I think human primacy is the best option. Inhuman I feel actually violates most of the ideals of the colony, as I personally feel the Paragons are working to IMPROVE humanity, not forsake it. Not to mention the removal of all social relationships neuters much of the story due to the fact everyone's an emotionless psychopath. High life I feel also is a bit of a stretch, and drugs might be difficult to get. Human Primacy fits with the transhumanist ideals, and also provides some very nice buffs.
Gotta agree, transhumanist ideals tend to veer more towards eliminating weakness and the perfection of the human. To rely on drugs or chems would be seen as a weakness (dependency) and like you said, inhuman is to forsake humanity.
It doesnt remove all drama but it does need a lot more management to keep the charachters in charachter. My first colony had half of itself inhuman while the others were normal and it was very painful when the child of the none inhumans got turned in the middle of the end game scenario while hordes of zombies barreled towards my pawns. Lost a leg, her humanity and almost bled out too, while the rest of my pawns made a desperate last stand in liettarly 6 blocks of ground and a mountain to their back.
High life feels just fine for an ice sheet. According to some research I've read 5 years ago, the more north you live, the bigger the chance that you will drink alcohol or use drugs. Months in darkness, social and territorial isolation and all that stuff. And it synergizes nicely with the transhumanist philosophy.
Ideology-wise, it makes a certain amount of sense that a society that's already turned to the dark side of the Void for the sake of practicality, not to mention transhumanism, wouldn't shy away from drugs.
The colony is really starting to feel solid now. And you can see that in the size of the evasion from the pit .. that took some quick thinking to take them down.
I would like to suggest cannibalism, since they’re already dipping their toes into that with the 3 ghouls. Furthermore that would a decent way to feed the colony on the side with the amount of raids that happens.
You wanted consequences for leaving the pit gate open, looks like there are at least one. Some defenses might be a good idea, outer stone wall(s), mortars. I don't think a kill box is necessary per se, but something to keep enemies away from the main part of the base at least a little longer
Maybe you could make a "fire moat"? Just an area of flammable material, surrounding your base in a ring. Light on fire in emergency. I am just not sure what material to use for that. Ideally something that burns long?
haygrass is a no-go unless you are willing to grow it in the pit in the rare fertile soil patches wood is hard to come by carpet is the only option then
