Good first reaction/introduction - welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊'Gimme Chocolate' can be too much of a shock and quite divisive as a first song to hear from BABYMETAL. Some people just don't get it so it wouldn't be my first recommendation ... but despite what I might think it does work for a lot of people. 'Gimme Chocolate' is one of their fun songs - they just want chocolate, but they're a bit worried about their weight ... but chocolate - it would be so nice and they would be so happy, can they just have a piece of chocolate please?🍫🍫🍫 They started in 2010 fusing metal with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics, including choreographed dancing. They really are unique and original ... they pioneered their very own new metal sub-genre (Kawaii Metal with kawaii meaning something like cute or adorable). Their choreography includes no suggestive or dubious moves - it is not like the choreography employed by most acts where the dancers are only there to fill the stage or to give you half dressed girls (or boys) to watch grabbing their crotches and spreading their legs. BABYMETAL's choreo is very often related to and helps with interpreting the meaning of the song or a lyric, but most importantly they use it to bridge the gap to the audience, to get everybody involved and joining in. They lead the crowd who will jump, pump their fists or whatever when the girls do. This video (it was a live performance but had the studio audio - shame as the live audio is even better) was filmed nearly 11 years ago in December 2013 the day after lead singer Su-metal's 16th birthday. Yuimetal and Moametal were both 14. It was their biggest concert at that time (about 8-9000 people), but that is a small crowd in comparison to their Japanese arena shows since then (they sold out the Tokyo Dome - 55,000 people - two nights running in 2016). When they started in 2010 Su was 12, Yui and Moa were 11 (they are not related, but Yui and Moa were styled to look alike). Today Su is 26, Moa is 25. Sadly Yui left the band in 2018 after a 12 month absence for undisclosed health reasons. Su and Moa continued as a duo for the next 4-5 years supported from 2019 in live shows by one of three dancers (the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko) dancing in the third spot. From about March 2020 only one Avenger, Momoko, remained. On 1st April 2023 Momoko was revealed as the new third member, so she is now Momometal. They have about 70 songs now, each one different to the last. Some are fun, some are deep. They have songs in every metal genre but, as well as the original JPop, they will mix and blend so many more musical styles and genres with the metal. There is no other band like them. We have watched them grow up to become one of the very best live bands on the planet (and the biggest of the current or new wave of Japanese metal and rock bands). The official videos are all very good and worth seeing, but they are at their very best in live performances. They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band (all of them world class musicians). You didn't see them in this video - BABYMETAL didn't always have the funds for a live band so early on the guys in skeleton suits (Babybones) would pretend to play the instruments. This concert was the last big one where the Babybones appeared (the Kami Band came on for the last 5 songs at this concert and became the full time support for all live shows from March 2014). My suggestion for your next reaction, their first major event outside of Japan as virtually unknown teenagers faced with over 50,000 UK metalheads. They had 25 minutes to impress them - singing in Japanese. This was the last of the 5 songs they played ... listen to the crowd at the end - 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' live at Sonisphere 2014.

Welcome to the Foxhole! (Babymetal version of rabbithole) Babymetal definitely bends the rule of genre. They started when they were 10 and 11 years old and now in their 20s, still going strong. You should definitely check out more. Maybe do, "Megitsune" next. Or, if you want more cultural mixing one, do their collaboration song with F.Hero, and Bodyslam - "Leave It All Behind". It's Japan Metal x Thai rapper x Thai rock band. Anyway, enjoy! 🦊🦊🦊

NOW, when I go back and watch/listen to their older stuff like this, it sounds completely normal in every way haha. I love it! Also! No two songs are the same. They blend LOTS of genres with metal. There are surprises around every corner. Enjoy!!!!❤

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🍫 💝 The whole concept of combining JPop with Metal could have been a disaster, but the quality of the singing, songwriting, choreography and staging take it to another level. 'Gimme Chocolate!!' is definitely one of their "poppier" tracks. They have been joined on stage for this song by members of Korn, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and DragonForce. Although not all at the same time. : ) They believe that if any song sounds too much like a single genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song. 'Gimme Chocolate!!' is a fun intro, but it barely scratches the surface of the singing and musicianship BABYMETAL are capable of. Still, those blast beats, and that bright young soprano voice definitely get you. Officially the explanation for the group name is that it represents a new born genre of metal. The music video has almost 200 million views.

Good one, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL! "Gimme Chocolate" is "just" a fun song about the girls wanting to eat chocolate but being a little worried worried about their weight. But, yeah those instrumentals are very, very metal and the juxtaposition with the cute vocals, lyrics and choreo was totally the point of the song and the reason why this music video went viral back in 2014. Helping them a lot tbh. It's their most "popular" song but probably not their best one. But that doesn't stop it from being a blast when they play it live. This music video has the studio version of the audio over the visuals from the concert Legend 1997 held to celebrate Su-metal's (the lead singer) 16th birthday. It was the song's live premiere. Yes, BABYMETAL are the three ladies. They are backed by a live band, the Kami Band, formed by session musicians, the best you can find. Unfortunately, they are not in this video: the guys in skeleton costumes (called "babybones") were there pretending to play the instruments while the music was in a backing track (Su-metal always sing live). It was like this because they couldn't afford and actual band at first. The real Kami Band was introduced progressively since October 2012 and they replaced the "babybones" for good since March 2014. Please check out some more serious stuff like "Road of Resistance" (Live in Japan) or "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (Live at Sonisphere 2014). Both videos from their official channel. 🤘🦊

Awesome, thanks for introducing a friend to Babymetal. These ladies are amazing, and they are even stronger now, 14 years since they started. They just played at the Futenma Flight Line Fair in Okinawa, and the venue had to enforce no moshing (twice) because the crowd got too rowdy haha. Babymetal went so hard, that they had to have US Marines as security guards for the venue... joking, it was a US Marine base after all, but still, hahaha! 🤣 🤘🦊

This was a really fun reaction and introduction. FYI: the girls at this time were (from left to right) Yui 13, Su 16 (her birthday was the day before this concert) and Moa 13. The girls now ladies have only had one personnel change in their career. Yui officially left in 2018 due to still undisclosed health reasons. And the ladies just this summer finished their sixth world tour and are currently touring South and North America. Babymetal and Electric Callboy both started in 2010. Seeing as how your a culture channel you have stumbled across the right band, Not only do Babymetal blend different genres they also love to throw in different cultures into the mix as well. I don't of any other group that has blended metal, pop and other cultures music like BM has. Here are some of their recent tunes you should react to. Shanti Santi Shanti - Indian, could be right out of a Bollywood movie, the girls choreography is a salute to Indian dance forms - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NgeYIqd-ZHI.htmlfeature=shared Metalizm - Middle Eastern or perhaps Egyptian with some Trance thrown in to mix things up further, visually stunning - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O7KUxBcU2rs.htmlfeature=shared Night Night Burn - Latin, Salsa on the dance floor, spicy - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q0E3lYBtuNQ.htmlfeature=shared Oh! Majinai - Eastern European/Celtic/Finnish Folk?? Well their cocept was quite simple. The old metal induszry of Japan had some quite famous male Bands and their male followers but younger generations didn't appear. So year over year the Fans became older. They had no female fans. So the concept was, we need female fans. So the dancing wss considered important. So Su , Moa and Yui learned that it can be helpful to shock your Fans from time to time. An Element that Koba had no control, how would the World react to the girls. They were created for a japanese problem with japanese solutions. But they had luck. The Phographer of Metallica dicovered them and alertedvthe Band. And when Kobametal ülanned their first visit to Europe Metallica wrote a raving review about them when they came 2014 to Sonicsphere. Give me chocolate went viral on RU-vid and the managen recogniced several tries to push these girls, but they decided to acknowledge these manneuvers so they moved them from a small stage 2.000 to the Main stage 50.000+ . So this were not necessarily their fans, but. The girls were quite nervous, they couldn't see any visitors, but many fans were already waiting for the main Acts, when suddenly corpses appeared together with three little girls. And they started to sing in a totally unknown language. British fans were feared but Su recogniced that they tried to react to Callbacks and at the end they left the stage under standen Ovationen.

Adorable. Powerful. Inspiring. That's what these ladies are! Just a random thought, yes they're heavily manufactured, but I think that has a negative connotation that I no longer agree with. It takes top notch songwriting, insane stage crew planning and work (as y'all will see more of), but for me what can easily get lost in all the insanity is how much hard work they ladies have to put in learning and practicing the extremely distinct deliberate choreography for every single song, then perform with the exact same intensity every single time! They are true athletes as far as I'm concerned, and also great actresses. A lot goes into the kawaii personality they convey on stage down to the details of their facial expressions. Its truly a marvel! So I'm 47, somewhat of a used to be music snob. Dream Theater is my favorite band of all time. But these ladies are a close second for my favorite music act ever now! My wife and I saw them in Texas back to back in Houston and Dallas last year and even now being in their mid 20s it felt like they have even MORE relentless energy! I don't know how they do it. Also watching a lot of the choreo and how in sync and perfect they are is mezmerizing in person. Su's voice (as have all of them of course) has matured and her singing is on another level now! And the amount of personal crowd interaction they did was insane! We were 6 feet from the stage in Dallas and got a smile and wave from Moa. They work very hard for their fans and want to show them their appreciation also, and that's so special and cool!
@Ganimal83
@Ganimal83 5 дней назад
I would also like to add: While the "negative" connotations can apply to other groups, it really doesn't to Babymetal. Ultimately, the core of what makes a produced group "negative" is authenticity. Babymetal wasn't a copy-and-paste job on an existing money-making concept, it was the invention of a metal-head producer stuck in the idol industry and a true passion project for everyone involved. Also, due to the above reason, they truly had to earn their way to the top despite early criticisms, and in the process, validated and popularized this concept. That, combined with all your bullet points, makes Babymetal METAL AF in spirit if nothing else! 🤘🦊

Gimme Chocolate:- Old school Thrash Metal. Combinations of Metallica "Fight Fire With Fire" and Slayer "Raining Blood". Heaviest, Brutal song about Chocolate. React to the song on late night show with Stephen Colbert. Old school metalheads can appreciate the metal 🤘, younger audience can appreciate the Pop with a very catchy chorus. "Babymetal" is a visual band like "X Japan 🇯🇵". This video features of the original BABYMETAL Trio "The Trinity" of Suzuka Nakamoto aka Su-Metal, Yui Mizuno aka Yuimetal and Moa Kikuchi aka Moametal. Yuimetal left Babymetal in 2018 due to an undisclosed medical issue.
