The Fox Festival series took place in Japan in 2017. These are performances at small venues, with the exception of the final Big Fox Festival, which took place on a large stage. These were the last performances of Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal) as part of Babymetal. After the Big Fox Festival, Yui stopped performing and later left the band due to health reasons.
The Fox Festival Series is a very good introduction to Babymetal if you are a metalhead. Small venues, in classic western design, powerful sound, will be close to the western metal fan.

It's not just about hide and seek. This is ancient Japanese mythology dealing with evil spirits. Essentially playing a game of "chicken" with them. Translating very dark events into more palatable children's games is also part of cultures all over the world. Think of "the boogeyman" and "monsters under your bed" with kids hearing ghost stories around a campfire.

So I'm late to the game and saw them for the third time this week, but seeing the English lyrics has me thinking that this song was a dual meaning thing. It's about hide and seek, and playing tag, but it's also seemingly about not sexualizing the girls and just appreciating that they fucking rock. And to their or our credit, I feel like the Babymetal crowd is one of the best and most positive there is, and the most respectful of what we're getting. It's just shredding faces, and I've yet to see anybody being a creep at one of their shows Maybe I'm overthinking it and am biased, but nothing makes me happier than seeing people come out of their shows just talking about how awesome the music was, or the dancing, or both. Gives me hope for the masses, and it was amazing to bring a new person to the Fox Gods this week and read their babbling texts about how fucking fun Babymetal is all week.

it's now on my bucket list as 40 year old to go to one of their mega shows and do the dance and pirouette during the chorus with a million other Foxhole enjoyers. They're just beyond amazing, I love them and can't get enough lately.

THIS is the video that was my first exposure to BabyMetal. At first I thought it was just the Kami Band, and was floored. Most bad-ass thing I had ever seen or heard. Then Hello Kitty comes prancing out and starts beating you over the head with a teddy bear. I think this is probably the greatest live hard rock/metal performance of all time.

For me this was BM at their absolute best. This version of the Kami band is just on-fire. Mikio (RIP) on guitar, Boh on bass, Takayoshi on guitar, and Hideki murdering the drums. Sadly, Yui left the trio, and it is just not the same. But I still enjoy them, however, 2017 was peak BM for me.

I keep coming back to this vid, and thinking it's the most perfect Babymetal cut ever. It's a song about hide and seek, the choreography is so brutal that the girls might not have even understood its roots. In a good way. Djent gonna djent, and I want that pink guitar.

I met you all backstage in melbourne 12 years ago the first time you came to Australia. 12 yesrs later im a huge fan but gave my ticket to my friend Dan for this Sundays show because im in Dandenong hospital, but ill be having a Babymetal video night on Sunday in tribute to this world class act who's music will live forever!! I can see that Yui's face was a bit puffier than usual, likely side effects of steroid use for treating pain. Also, her uniform was a bit larger than usual, likely to accomodate for a brace on her back (the probable reason why she couldn't bend too well at the waist).

Nobody knows for sure, but I don't think it's related to the injury. Perhaps she has diabetes or some kind of hormonal imbalance, which has led to increased weight and facial volume

I think Yui really left due to health problems. At her last performance, Big Fox Festival, she changed a lot in appearance and didn't look very good. In 2023, there were rumors that Yui had recovered and even had a chance to return to Babymetal. Why she did not return is unknown. Perhaps the doctors still did not advise her to return to performing, or maybe she herself did not want to risk letting the others down. Actually being in Babymetal is a completely crazy life. They are constantly on tour, every day in a new city. So many performances, so many rehearsals. Not every person can handle such a life. Of course, I don't know for sure, but I think they only accepted Momoko after they gave Yui a chance to come back. And when she refused, or couldn't, they decided to finally accept Momoko as an official member.

Yeah i also think health comes first!! I also have health issues i love to dance but imagine being in a group where you tour all year long it must be harder than it looks!! This is the classic lineup here, and it has all the silliness and fun vibes that they lost with Mikio's passing, then Yui's departure. They have matured, and now they are a staple, like Iron Maiden.

I'll never get tired of seeing the average concert goer marking out for a drum solo, even though it's probably the least interesting Kami band bit. And that's not a knock on him at all, he's a fucking shredder, but like Mikio does a super original whammy bar phrased solo and nobody even cares, because here comes some double kick. I love both Kami Bands, I guess is what I'm saying. Babymetal too, but like....the Kamis just operate on a different level.

officially musicians is not Babymetal. But they perform together many years. Since 2019 Babymetal has a 2nd set of musicians (from the US), who are called West Kami.
