It might be about fighting their inner demons (with help from the Fox God) and how they are leaving the traditional Japanese music industry behind. Some of the imagery can be how metal music is seen as being dark but it allows you to be yourself, while traditional J-Pop is seen as more pure but in reality is like a machine just turning out stars.

Ironic that a death metal band with skeletons in the video is substantially more wholesome and uplifting (3:15) than a great majority of pop and hip hop videos. Kudos all around. This was the very first Babymetal song, video I heard. I thought I was going to hate them. I did not even know they were Japanese until I saw this video. I just remember some metal people ragging on "Babymetal". I watched this video the first time and I thought to myself, "this was not bad, the song was kind of cool, the lead singer seemed to have some pipes". Then I watched as second time and I thought, "this is actually good, I really like this". Then I watched some more of their videos and they do what Babymetal does, steal your soul with awesome metal.

Just discovered them yesterday, here's my story: I was bored and listening a hardcore band called Moscow Death Brigade, then the RU-vid recommended me a Indian metal band, which was really good, so I started listening to other Asian metal bands from the recommended section, that's when for no reason I decided to literally search for "Japanese metal", and then I saw Gimme chocolate thumbnail, and honestly it got me intrigued, my first reaction was "WTF is this Japanese metal apparently talking about chocolate with 3 "anime" girls on the thumbnail with 100M+ views, must be worth checking", so I clicked..... BEST DECISION EVER, I'm already addicted to their music, it's absolutely awesome!!

Some people just have a certain mind set about what metal is or should be and anything that challenges that perception sets them off. Me, I've been a metalhead since the 80's, got stuck in a rut, wasn't liking anything new I listened to and Babymetal was just the shot in the arm I needed. I'll never stop loving it.

A lot of the big names in metal support them. The thing with this band is this; you can't just listen to one song, have that first WTF is this knee-jerk reaction and turn your back on them. Because you don't know what the band is about then. You think you do, but you don't. I think it was Moa who said in an interview one time... the first album is like their business card. Just saying, "Here's what we can do." The second album goes deeper into different metal genres. The Kami Band is incredible and I'd put them up against any band performing live today. My journey of emotions I have had with this band: First time listening to Babymetal: "Man, this is fucking dumb. Weeb garbage ruining my genre of music. Fucking stupid" Second listen: "Eh, it's actually not that bad. A lot of interesting aspects to it actually. Still, not a big fan. Won't be something I listen to often." Third listen: "Alright, it's growing on me a bit. I mean, I'll listen every once and awhile. Not gonna, like, blast it in my car or anything." Fourth listen: "Holly shit. It's like fucking crack. I can't stop replaying it. I don't even feel like listening to anything else right now." Fifth listen: *blasts in car on way to work* Sixth to current listen: "This band is the greatest thing to happen to metal in the past decade."

I use to look at new branches in the metal genre the same way you do...now , i'm more open minded , cause regardless of how they tell their story to the listener , atleast they play it in a style i understand and can relate to. and to be honest ,, they are the best thing to come from japan as far as music , that i have ever heard....thats just my opinion though.
