I'm so jealous, these shows look unreal. The stage setup, and the lighting, like it's just incredible. This was sort of their official comeback show, correct? The show that was post Other One release and them confirming they were adding Momo and sticking with it for the foreseeable future? That crowd must have been super into it, but this song ripping for the first time live must have tore the place down. I love the newer, more mature sounding Babymetal that isn't just being cute. It's such a fantastic concept, and they came back when the world needed them most.

@@actuallynotsteve Babymetal Returns on January 28th and 29th was the first show back following the 18 month hiatus after 10 Babymetal Budokan in 2021. This performance actually took place at Babymetal Begins - The Other One: Black Night & Clear on April 1st and 2nd, which served as the second part of this storyline. At Babymetal Returns in January, it was still just Su and Moa performing as Babymetal, with Momoko serving as Avenger once again, and they were still in their 10 BB attire. It was only at the end of the second night that they announced Babymetal Begins. The show ended with Su and Moa walking up a set of stairs where crystal coffins stood waiting. They walked up to the coffins and stood in front of them, then a third coffin rose up out of the floor, and a third figure (who was lit in such a way that you couldn't see who it was) walked up the stairs to stand in front of the third coffin, and then the lights went out. They then showed a lore video explaining that on Fox Day (April 1st) a new Babymetal would be born, and given what we had just seen, it was pretty clear that the implication was that a new permanent third member would finally be joining Su and Moa. I originally only intended to go to Japan for the January shows, but after seeing that, I knew I had to go back for the April shows, since everyone was convinced that it would be Momoko who would be the new third member (though some were still holding out for Yui to come back), and I wanted to be there for the moment when the new member was unveiled. At Black Night on April 1st, the show opened with just Su and Moa against, and they were still in the 10BB outfits and it was mostly a pretty normal show with Momoko serving as Avenger again, but at the end of the main set, they finished with Babymetal Death (Shin version) and had Su, Moa, and (significantly) Momoko on clear crystal crosses, then they did IDZ as an encore. There was then a lore video that explained that Babymetal had completed the ten year journey of the Metal Resistance and that they had traveled beyond the Metal Galaxy into the Metalverse, where they encountered worlds where other versions of Babymetal existed, each represented by one of the songs on The Other One. It then declared that the Fox God was sending Babymetal on a new journey, and that a new Babymetal was being summoned for this new adventure. They then announced the new line up of Su-metal, Moametal, and Momometal, and the crowd absolutely roared. The second night (Clear Night) of the show was the first time they wore their new outfits, and it was the first show that Momo had a mic now that she was a full member of Babymetal. The whole of Clear Night was basically a "welcome Momometal party". As I understand it, the Metal Resistance era officially ended at 10 BB, and Babymetal Returns was kind of like an epilogue for that era and the intro to the transitional period that is The Other One. Babymetal Begins Clear Night was the official beginning of the new era, represented by the introduction of a new member, and the unveiling of the new outfits. One thing that I think is important to note is that Babymetal have been very clear in interviews that TOO is NOT the 4th Babymetal album, and have described it as a "gaiden" (side story), and I think that it serves as a kind of interlude between the end of the Metal Resistance era, and the beginning of the Metalverse era. My take is that the Metalverse era fully began with "Metali", as it is the first song with Momometal on vocals. The crowd definitely went hard, but it was difficult to get good mosh pits going, as the the crowd blocks in the arena were very small and there wasn't much room to get a circle going, but we tried out best.
