ASA was co-writer of the song BATTER UP, that's how talented she is, I mean before she debuted she was already credited as a writer.

she is talented that's why yg holds her back.. Yg wants ahyeon to be shine more than any other. In Treasure, there are 3 rapper (1 Korean and 2 Japanese)...It goese same to babymonster. In Treasure, Korean rapper is the yg favourite member and write and compose music. So Yg wants the same thing from his favourite member Ahyeon. Untill then YG won't give asa to write and contribute to album. Yg could allow asa to write and contribute to their first album but he didn't...so it shows clearly he wants to keep ASA under the shadow of Ahyeon

@@muzikzonee Interesting point, if that is true then YG is doing himself a HUGE disservice. Because by pushing his favorites and ignoring talented artists, then you are promoting favoritism. and pushing talent away from your company! I will have to wait and see in the upcoming months how YG handles the promotion of Babymonster to see if Ahyeon gets special treatment compared to the other girls.

Man their Trainee period is: Chiquita: 3 years Pharita : 4 years Ahyeon : 5 years Asa/Rami/Rora/Ruka: 6 years.

The pre-debut songs are called that because they are songs that are released but do not have promotions either in public, or in music programs, or on radio programs, and they do not have an album, etc., on the other hand, the debut song (SHEESH) does have promotions in the media and is part of an album, SHEESH is the main song of the group's first mini-album.

Whenever you see blurred out faces in any of the videos, those are the girls that did not make it. One of the YG girls that did not make Baby Monster is actually debuted in illit. Hybe's latest girl group just debuted.

Yg training is free they invest in their trainees. Big agencies like hybe entertainment is also free. However most smaller - mid size agencies will invest first and when they debut the idol , the idol has to pay it all back. So for a lot of group they make no money for their early career because they got to pay back their training days. Cost a million dollar to create 1 girl group. So if they debut and it doesn’t go well they will be in debt because of that training. Its basically like a loan even when they debut as a real singer. If they become successful and big, within a week they should able to pay it all back but for underrated group it may take many years to just pay back their training days only

That kind of situation is largely the reason why Korean law will not enforce any "idol contracts" beyond a period of 7 years (which is also why the period of 7 years has become a significant thing in the Kpop world). Many companies would often sign up the idols to 10-year and longer contract periods, with one-sided terms that were essentially "slave contracts". As you indicated, members of an idol group that was not successful would end up having to pay off the "loans" from the company, either through small time gigs or whatever...and they would never have the option of going to another company without permission. But it was bad for successful idols too. They would be stuck with rookie contract terms for almost their entire career, so the company would take almost all of the earnings and only distribute a small amount to the idols.

Yes, the pronunciation of Asa's name is like Ah-sah (or "awe" like in awesome and "saw"). She has a couple of nicknames: Chiquita gave her the nickname "Ace-sa" because she's an ace in so many areas. Rora gave her the nickname "Kim Asa". Kim is perhaps the most common family name in Korea. Rora calls her Kim Asa because even though Asa is Japanese, she speaks Korean so well that she may as well have a Korean family name.

when you watch the Last Evaluation, you can see the 8,9 10th girls, but their faces are blurred. This pool of girls started right after BlackPink debute, 2016 The first two girls listed were Chinese Girls, 2017 Rora, Ruka and Asa joined 2018 etc So the problem is not weather these girls have the talent, because if you make it to YG training camp, you have talent. the problem is do you want to train for 6 years, and find out you did not make the cut. Both Jane Wang and Vicky Wei introduced themselves as Babymonster in 2020 on Youth With You 2, a Chinese elimination show, Jane was #9th. but I guess the wait from 2020 til 2023 was too long and they moved on.

What an ARTIST ...man himself YHS ..CAN BE...to audition like from 1000/2000 kids & only PICK only 1...& keep going till u have 7 talents...Pharita was chosen out of more than 1300 kids...IT'S CRAZY...ALL OF THEM JUST LIKE THAT...WHAT AN EYE..WHAT A EAR...CAN THIS MAN HAVE...IT'S WOW.SIMPLY 🙌

If you recall, in Chiquita's video there was a dance performance that had 10 trainees so at least 3 were eliminated at some point.

Pre debut means that they are still trainees. They are not paid idols ie they have not yet been signed as idols. Debut means they are now fully paid idols with 7 year contract. Batter Up is the debut for 6 of the girls because Ahyeon was sick. They did not do any promotions or radio shows with Batter Up and Stuck in the middle so it was a unofficial debut clearly waiting for Ahyeon to recover from illness. But Sheesh is now the official debut because all 7 girls are now debuted. And they have kicked off all the promotions and World wide tours since launching Sheesh. Why did they not wait? Baby Monster signed with Adidas promotions launched in Batter Up. Pepsi Thailand and Pepsi Vietnam signed to use Batter Up in their advertising jingle and the girls on large posters on trains and buses nationwide.

Just to give you some context, Asa (you pronounced it correctly... Ah-sa) is covering "Look Alive" by Joyner Lucas, an extremely talented rapper with very fast flows. When she jumps into the 3rd verse and starts spitting bars fast, she actually says "Joyner Lucas sicker than a strep throat". To be able to cover this rap at her age is phenomenal. She killed it! She has "next level" breath control. She actually says "my Jamaican chick got socks on, every time I hear that she be like wagwan". Wagwan is Jamaican for "what's going on", according to google.

some of these clips show girls with blurred out faces. they are the trainees that didn't make it to the 7. i'm not sure of numbers but at any given time there will be young trainees signed to YG and receiving vocal training, dance/choreography training or acting lessons (Jisoo). some like MiYeon from (G)I-DLE, who was shortlisted for Blackpink, or Jinny (Secret Number) leave (for reasons) and end up at other companies. others like Yuk Jidam who appeared in Season 1 of Unpretty Rapstar gain and lose popularity and disappear from the limelight and of course there will be many who just fail to make the grade or reach the limits of their potential and move onto different career paths. unless YG has plans for a Japanese group in the near future i doubt they're investing in potential girl group trainees but there's likely to be solo artists waiting in the wings and honing their skills.

There is a former YG trainee, that fits the age range of the trainees for the Babymonster project, that is currently on the MNET I-Land 2 reality survival show to create a 5th gen girl group for Wake One Entertainment. YGE and YG Japan are curently auditioning for new trainees.

The new YG ENTERTAIMENT headquarters building is the most expensive and modern kpop agency building in the entire kpop industry, it opened in 2021 and is ultra technological, on the outside it is super modern and on the inside it looks like a spaceship From a science fiction movie, YG always gives the best to its workers and artists.

Design and construction of the new YG building began in 2017 and it officially opened in 2021. Since 2017, the YGE Board of Directors had voted that the majority of the debt for the new building had to be paid off before YGE could expand their staff (hire more producers, managers, etc). In 2022, that directive was met and YGE restructured, then started hiring more producers. Before 2022, YGE had 10 producers and by the end of 2023, YGE had around 30 producers divided into multiple teams. The increase in producers was to address the criticism of the low amount of songs and slow rate of comebacks by YG groups.

I think it's appropriate in this context to express gratitude to Blackpink for making it possible. Certainly all of the artists at YG contributed. But It's quite obvious that, without Blackpink, YG would probably be in a financially precarious position even now. The earnings from the 2023 concert tour (an exhausting year-long series of 70 sold-out performances (incl. Hyde Park and Coachella) in 24 different countries) added a huge amount of additional profits over and above the amount needed to pay off existing debt in 2022. I love Babymonster and I fully realize that Blackpink's success made it possible for BM to: (1) debut under financially prosperous circumstances at YG; and (2) receive the kind of priority and promotional support that no girl group at YG ever received before when they debuted.

ASA and PHARITA are my 2 favorites, not only because of their great talent but also because of their beautiful personality, that is why you have to see LAST EVALUATION so that you can get to know them much better as a person and artists.
