Baccaurea courtallensis is a species of flowering plant belonging to the family Phyllanthaceae. It is endemic to the Western Ghats mountains in India. It is a medium size evergreen understory tree frequent in tropical wet evergreen forests of the low and mid-elevations (40-1000m). It is a Near Threatened species according to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.t is a medium size tree up to 10-18m tall and girth up to 1.3 m.Bark is grey and generally smooth or scaly. The leaves are simple, alternate and clustered at twig end. The leaf petiole is 1.2 to 3.8 cm long and swollen at both ends.
The flowers are scarlet in colour and dioecious. Inflorescence are in long stalks arranged in clusters growing on the trunk of the tree i.e. cauliflorous. Male inflorescence is clustered all over the trunk. Female inflorescence is clustered mostly at the base of the trunk.The fruit are globose, crimson coloured and ribbed.
ഫില്ലന്തേസി കുടുംബത്തിൽ പെട്ട ഒരു ഇനം പൂച്ചെടിയാണ് ബക്കൗറിയ കോർട്ടല്ലെൻസിസ്. ഇത് ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പശ്ചിമഘട്ട മലനിരകളിൽ മാത്രം കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇടത്തരം വലിപ്പമുള്ള നിത്യഹരിത അടിവസ്‌ത്ര മരമാണിത്‌, താഴ്ന്നതും മധ്യഭാഗവും (40-1000 മീറ്റർ) ഉഷ്ണമേഖലാ ആർദ്ര നിത്യഹരിത വനങ്ങളിൽ ഇടയ്‌ക്കിടെ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. IUCN റെഡ് ലിസ്റ്റ് ഓഫ് ത്രെറ്റന്ഡ് സ്പീഷീസുകൾ പ്രകാരം ഇത് വംശനാശ ഭീഷണി നേരിടുന്ന ഒരു ഇനമാണ്.t 10-18 മീറ്റർ വരെ ഉയരവും 1.3 മീറ്റർ വരെ ചുറ്റളവുമുള്ള ഇടത്തരം വലിപ്പമുള്ള മരമാണ്. ഇലകൾ ലളിതവും, ഒന്നിടവിട്ട്, തണ്ടുകളുടെ അറ്റത്ത് കൂട്ടം കൂടിയതുമാണ്. ഇലയുടെ ഇലഞെട്ടിന് 1.2 മുതൽ 3.8 സെന്റീമീറ്റർ വരെ നീളവും രണ്ടറ്റത്തും വീർത്തതുമാണ്.
പൂക്കൾക്ക് കടും ചുവപ്പ് നിറവും ഡയീഷ്യസും ഉണ്ട്. പൂങ്കുലകൾ മരത്തിന്റെ തുമ്പിക്കൈയിൽ വളരുന്ന കുലകളായി ക്രമീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന നീളമുള്ള തണ്ടിലാണ്, അതായത് കോളിഫ്ളോറസ്. ആൺ പൂങ്കുലകൾ തുമ്പിക്കൈ മുഴുവൻ കൂട്ടമായി കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. പെൺ പൂങ്കുലകൾ തുമ്പിക്കൈയുടെ അടിഭാഗത്ത് കൂട്ടമായി കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. കായ്കൾക്ക് ഗോളാകൃതിയും കടും ചുവപ്പും വാരിയെല്ലുകളുമുണ്ട്
