I've just realised why Bach didn't write much orchestral music. In his day nobody could play it!! This is not easy but this ensemble just nail it. Wonderful musicianship, wonderful music. Surely, there has never been a better performance of this concerto ever. It wont be surpassed, I wish Bach could have heard it, something very special took place here.
@@trobinsson79 I think you will find that in comparison to today's high standards of teaching and performance the abilities of most musicians at the time of Bach were poor. His music is, as of course you know, very difficult.
What a dream team. This one recalls me the looong discussions I had with my grandpa. I was born in Bach, and more generally in ancient music. I come here to the source, when I leave, I am stronger. This is pure love.
At the end I would have been standing, clapping, and hollering "Bravo!". Brilliant musicians playing a piece of art composed by a genius. Love the encore where they changed things up a bit.
Massive respect to Reinhold Friedrich there. Playing the Brandenburg live then playing the 3rd movement again for the encore and sticking the last note up a fourth.. amazing
Truly a great and balanced performance. I have never seen the long piccolo trumpet used before and Friedrich played it flawlessly. Quite buoyant and motivating.
Yamaha YTR-9910. Only made in 1982....very few left in existence, and the ones that are still around are prized for their perfection of design to play this very work.
Indeed, it was not great. This one is (on further investigation and conversations) a Schilke custom instrument which was never in production, but which Yamaha used as the basis for the YTR-9910. It is build as a shortened C version of the P6 long bell Schilke Bb/A piccolo, to be pitched in C. The big differences are a slightly shorter bell (which can on the 9910 be extended to play in A and Bb with separate bell extenders), and a straight, shorter leadpipe (the P6 has a curved leadpipe). The Bach long bell piccolos from the last period of Vincent's life were simply not great instruments. I know a few who swear by, but a far greater majority who swear at, them. The 196 they made as a shortened Selmer 59 copy was little better (but did have Bach valves), and the more modern 196 is a great horn, albeit a Stomvi in Bach labeling. Probably too much discussion for here, but it is cool to talk shop. Even cooler to hear this great performance.
Just like a prayer fans, let's share good vibes and let only the music rule the world so no evil could ever touch us, keep up be strong everybody Ok? 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🥂🥂🥂💕💕👏👏❤️❤️💯💯👌👌🎶🎶💎💎💎💎💎🌹🌹👍👍🍀🍀🍀💐💐💐🍾🍾🎉🎉🎉👍👍👍🤗🤗🤗🤗😊😊✌️✌️✌️✌️😊
Why does classical music have to be portrayed as aristocratic and only for a particular social class? This music is for every one. It should be pulled out of the stagnant concert halls and performed on the streets around the world. Why are musicians timid about playing this music?
Why would playing Bach on the streets improve anything? The "every one" you refer to are all welcome to come inside these beautiful concert halls, which are only stagnant when the lights are out. There are lots of empty seats, I hear.
I think 13:25 is an encore of the third movement. Michala Petri uses a sopranino recorder. And the trumpet goes up from the fifth to the tonic, for the final note. Other than that, sounds like the same music.
So amazing seeing these musicians smiling while playing or when seeing another musician soloing! Your smiles are beautiful, this made this chamber piece an utterly joyful moment!
One of the best - if not THE BEST - performances of the Brangenburgies 2. WIth Carmignola on the violin of course! AMAZING. Just AMAZING!!!!!!. LOVE IT!!!!!!
Einfach perfekt.
what a very great performance !!! look at the glow on the faces of the performers ! they are so satisfied !!! a very glorious performance of Bach Brandenburg number 2 ! So happy to live !
