Dorothee Mields is so unassuming it's easy to miss the fact that her singing is flawless.

Absolutely love everything with Mr. Koopman in it when one can see the performance. No one by virtue of the visual gesture transmits the joy of the music more than he does. There exist others whose interpretation more appeals to me (they are all amazing of course), but none adds more joy from a live performance.

I'm beginning to love her voice more and more. So sharp and focused like a razor. And of course, it helps loads that she has a wonderful stage presence.

What a sweetheart, that Dorothee Mields! She has one of the greatest soprano voices I've ever heard - at once, powerful and subtle, impeccably controlled and mellifluous. Listening to her is like sliding into a hot tub - the warmth is enveloping. The clincher, however, is her captivating charm and humility, without the slightest trace of prima-donna airs.

Contrary to the comments saying the thumping is annoying or the 'waving head' of Koopman is distracting, I think this is a great rendition of this Cantata. Dorothee undoubtedly delivers, with meticulous care for intonation and precision. She's easily likeable. Her stage presence is immaculate. The rest, including Koopman's idiosyncratic way of orchestrating the whole performance doesn't make it any less than a great concert. Thank you, AVRO. I wholeheartedly subscribe to you!

Las Cantatas, en mi punto de vista, es lo más profundo de J. S. Bach porque es música muy íntima, se introduce en uno y provoca un estado de tranquilidad y emoción bello y hermoso.

Beautiful. Some people are commenting on Ton Koopman's idiosyncratic conducting. Rhetorical question: How can you not love this man and his love of this music. Listen to his introduction to part 1 of BWV 131 Aus def Tiefe, talking about the meaning of the text and the history. After hearing and seeing him in this way, I am a devotee and he can stand on his head and conduct with his toes and I will applaud it all.

"Weichet nur, betrübte Schatten" (littéralement traduit par "Disparaissez maintenant, ombres lugubres") est une cantate sacrée de Johann Sebastian Bach. La cantate a été composée pour le troisième jour du Festival de Pâques de Leipzig en 1725 et a été jouée le 2 avril de cette année. La cantate est structurée en onze mouvements, dont une sinfonia d'ouverture (une introduction instrumentale), sept arias (solos) pour différentes voix, deux récitatifs (passages ressemblant à des discours) et un choral final. Le texte de la cantate a été écrit par Georg Christian Lehms et reflète l'histoire pascale de la résurrection de Jésus-Christ et sa signification spirituelle pour les croyants. La cantate s'ouvre sur une sinfonia joyeuse et triomphale, qui donne le ton pour le reste de l'œuvre. Les airs et récitatifs suivants explorent divers aspects de l'histoire de Pâques, tels que le chagrin des disciples lors de la crucifixion, l'émerveillement et la joie des femmes qui ont découvert le tombeau vide, ainsi que l'espoir et le réconfort que la résurrection apporte aux croyants. La musique de Bach se caractérise par ses mélodies expressives, ses harmonies riches et son contrepoint complexe. Bravo les amis ! Air "Sich üben im Lieben" : Magnifique interprétation décontractée. la surprise du chef claveciniste qui frappe le côté de clavier est inattendue mais marque bien le rythme de la danse pour remettre les invités sur le bon temps. Si on a remarqué cette variante, on comprend mieux le sourire amusé des musiciens en arrière. Je regrette juste un peu l'effacement du basson dans le film car le hautbois sans le basson... ce n'est pas pareil,.... et sa présence effacée tant pendant la prise qu'au moment des applaudissements me manque un peu

Ah, Dorothee Mields, la plus grande soprano de notre époque pour les interprétations de Bach. Avec le Collegium Vocale Gent de Philippe Herreweghe, elle brille au firmament. Avec Ton Koopman aussi.

Ton Koopmann is an excellent conductor of refined sensitivity, but above all a cultured polyglot intellectual who also speaks my language, Italian; this version of Cantata BWV 202 is undoubtedly perfect, but I would recommend listening to the version performed by the Amsterdam Concerto under the direction of Jaap Schroeder which is better for me.

Gian-Andri Cuonz that's because is old German. What we known for German (or modern German) was made after the 95 thesis of Luther. It was a process (I would say that middle Mozart is kind of Modern German) and Bach write in old German. Also, Dorothee Mields is from Germany.

Tambourine? There is no tambourine. You're probably hearing the harpsichord.

An inside joke, Ton Koopman is well-known for having a heavy touch. This causes the extra noise. I do facetious whenever I can.

Please don' t generalise: I'm an atheist and I love Bach's music and there a great many of us who feel the same.. I'm sure there are also ignorant and tasteless christians who dislike Bach and other great religious composers. Besides the guy you're commenting on has been spreading his uninformed BS & hate all over youtube. Apparantly if he's miserable everybody else should be too. What he hopes to achieve with his spiteful comments is beyond me. Best not to feed the trolls, no?

"Miserable Church music as usual" - I really had to laugh. This cantata is not even religious. It's one of the funny secular cantatas of Bach. Before you unleash your ignorant comments, do some research before to avoid sounding like a nincompoop.

And what about the Branderburger Concerts of Bach, secular works, are they also miserable or are they great because they are unreligious? And if you find those great, where is then your rationalism based on, the religious and unreligious are written by one and the same composer?

Die Stimme von Frau Mields klingt schäbig. Vernünftig artiklúlieren kann sie auch nicht. Ein bißchen mehr Stimmbildung hätte ihr gut getan. Aber sie hatte sichelrich eine/n schlte/n Lehrer(in
