I have heard other versions of this piece, mostly very good or excellent ones, but none had this elegance and lightness, To my ears and soul, this is what Bach really is about. This performance has this lack of pomp and pretension that correponds to the innermost of the Bach's music, and which is not very usual for his contemporaries. Abado and orchestra, deserve highest praise for getting hold of this and bringing it over to us. Simply beautiful, Bravo!

i'm back--i just love these great musicians and their conductor doing the brandenburg concerti. not only do they play so well, they also are really enjoying it. in the R and B world you would say they are really a tight group. love this--thanx again for posting!

I was singing this music on my head this morning, so i decided to look for it on youtube... i was singing in a normal-Bach.XVIIcent. speed... and now i'm listenning to something similar to hip-pop dance, rock'nroll, pop break dance speed... BLEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

you should all hear the performance (and the right tempo) of Stuttgart Chammbre Orchestra doing Bach 3rd Brandenburger - even Keith emerson in his rock/jazzy version of it did not go too fast
@roorroorroorroor Io sono tra quelli che non capiscono una... Anche a me, trent'anni fa, piaceva di più Harnoncourt. Adesso ho cambiato idea. Comunque è sempre interessante vedere come certa gente s'impanchi a giudice assoluto del bello.
non sono certo un critico musicale...ma non mi sembra certo una delle migliori interpretazioni di Bach, sembra che l'abbiano fatto rinascere nel romanticismo...
Sto notando che da qualche tempo le orchestre si arricchiscono di elementi femminili che a mio parere conferiscono un'aria di gentilezza e di grazia all'arte dei suoni che nel caso di Bach è come portare in gioia e gioco la festa della vita,del mondo.
Abbado non è in grado di dirigere Bach! tutte le cose a discrezione del Direttore sono pessime (vedi ad esempio gli attacchi!!!) per fortuna i musicisti, di fama internazionale, non hanno visibilmente bisogno delle sue indicazioni e... suonano da soli!!!
Sul fatto che i musicisti così talentuosi non abbiano bisogno dell ' attacco sono d' accordo. Ma non esprimere commenti insensati sul maestro Abbado!!!
Musica Antiqua Köln and L'Ensemble Caprice have faster versions. I know, this is not a contest, trying to prove who can play faster and who couldn't, but I do like it that way. A matter of tastes...
