What an insult! They should be paying Kapellmeister Bach for the honour of playing for their congregation. A wonderful series! Thank you so much

Thank you very much, Phil. Yes, it's a period I wanted to highlight, Bach just having lost his beloved wife, his oldest daughter having to run the household while he was trying to run away from his misery like he had always done when life became too hard, in Arnstadt, Mühlhausen, Weimar and now again in Köthen. We know extremely little about who Bach must have been as a person, but I can only see him as a broken man.

I really like the music that plays in the various episodes, both for the sound quality and the interpretation, and particularly you playing piano. Do you ever intend to make available your performances on piano of the pieces you play in the various episodes like the Sarabande from the Partita in B flat, or Sheep May Safely Graze? There are videos on RU-vid of other people playing Sheep May Safely Graze, but in the words of Prince Leopold, they all sound "ghastly" in comparison with the way you play it.

@@robbes7rh Thank you very much for your kind words. During the first episodes I had to construct all the orchestral music on the PC, which sounded awful, but meanwhile many orchestras and musicians are so generous that they're willing to contribute and this has greatly enhanced the series. My sincere thanks also for your compliments about my piano play. 😊 In fact, I am working on a (digital) CD with the keyboard music of the series and 8 tracks or so have already been published. The rest will still have to wait as the work on the series itself already takes so much time, but eventually this CD will also be finished. You can already listen to the published tracks here: bachtheanimatedseries.bandcamp.com/album/bach-the-animated-series-soundtrack

Just a small thing to note. Notice the night sky. Free of the air and artificial light pollution of today, most people back then had little problem with believing in a God, however considered. The marvel of the Milky Way galaxy was always there to remind them. Now fewer and fewer people can see it with all of the pollution of today, which is also a pollution of the mind and the soul.

As an astronomy enthusiast, I can only concur. The strange thing is that scientific studies have shown that street lights actually cause more crime and accidents, but we still insist to keep them on, even though they are the number 1 consumer of electric power in the World, just because our animal instinct tells us to be afraid of the dark. 🙄

Thank you so much, Alexandru, and my apologies that it took me so long. The thing is that I'm learning more about animation with every episode, but this means that every episode becomes more complicated to make as well. Anyway, thank you once more for your wonderful comments... they mean so much to me. 😊

@@BachTheAnimatedSeries - you’re most welcome. The series breathes so much vibrancy and meaning into J.S. Bach’s music. I’ve known Bach’s music for decades but so little about him and his environs. And I’m very fond of cartoons, so what better way to discard my misconceptions and become acquainted anew with the most badass keyboard player in all of Europe.

The episode was good. However, I have a doubt. Don't take it so badly, please. I have no intention of hurting you. And I'm afraid to do it, since your series receives a lot of praise from many loyal Bach fans and some other people interested in his life. However, this question really eats me up and now I come to the point: Didn't Bach try to see Reicken in episode 4, but couldn't? It is that episode in which he later spends money on that opera. Well, and it turns out that this episode that I'm commenting on right now... Bach suddenly finds Reicken and talks to him as if he had met him. Seriously, it seemed like nonsense to me. I'm so sorry if I offended you... I'm just telling you. That is all. Have a very good night.

Wonderful episode! The facts are told with enormous purity and with a big heart. I've studied for eight years on the Hamburg events and on the competition for the organ of the Church of St. Jackob and I've also written a small essay on it. In his story all the most important contents are there with great sincerity. The Hamburg events are Sebastian's profound rereading of both his life and his faith. The great Fugue BWV 542 which surely played in those days is the turning point between the before and after the death of Maria Barbara. Thank you so much for his excellent work!

Getting such a compliment from someone who knows Bach as profoundly as you is more than I ever hoped for. You'll have noticed though that I placed Christoph's death before Hamburg whereas in reality it was a couple of months after. I just wanted to enhance the drama a bit, but I hope that you'll forgive me this little bit of artistic freedom. 😊 Thank you, with all of my heart! You're very kind!

@@BachTheAnimatedSeries In a job like this, what is more important is to convey the correctness of the content, not to list the facts in a specific chronological order. Otherwise we should also say that it was not Reincken (who was present and expressed all his appreciation of him to Bach) who said that sarcastic phrase about the angels who had to run away, but it was Pastor Erdmann Neumeister in a sermon of him a few days later. Who cares? It is not a documentary: it is a transmission of the authentic meaning of Bach's life. And this series is doing it perfectly.

Again a true entertainment. Professional in all of ist dsiciplines: a pleasure to watch it. Meanwhile I am running out of new, exciting words to honor your artwork, as I am part of your audience since volume one. What’s new ist he comments of more lovers of your cartoon film. I read their comments and it’s a pleasure they also discover the details in your work and write about them here. So that adds - for me - tot he joy of every new episode as I can see the numbers of viewers and Bach fans climb on both each episode and the subscribers. Mewnahile it’s like a common project and I love to see it’s development. Of course by the way, I love all the sub „disciplines“ on more time: the shadow play, the music, the combination of old artwork like wooden engravings with your drawings and so on and so on. BRAVO, Peter, I love it Best from Germany, Peter

Thank you very much! Every new episode's a new challenge and I keep learning and improving, but this makes the production process harder and longer as well. Fortunately I'm getting more and more help and I've found some real music that I can use, copyright-free, and this is a huge leap forward as well. I'm very fortunate to have such great "fans" who've been with me almost right from the start. Thank you once more!

What a leap forward! The appearance, which surely took a bunch of research, is finer than ever. Those backgrounds! And that's not all. And the pacing seems more deft than ever, too, subtle and so strong. I had faith that the wait was going to be well worth it. Thank you! I should add that the prevalence of death was of course strong in those days; your episodes reflect that well. And Bach's cantatas--I am listening to them all for the first time--make so much mention of it. But I agree with JSB, that God's grace is yet far more astonishing. Thank you again!

Thank you so much for your kind words. 😊 Obviously, animation's a long and difficult learning process and every new episode pushes the boundaries, but also takes more time to create. I'm also getting more and more help from friends for the voices but also for the music and especially this means a huge leap forward with the past where I was forced to create all of the music on the PC, with terrible results. Anyway, I'm overjoyed that you liked it and hopefully you'll enjoy the next episode just as much... whenever I finish it. 🤣 Cheers!
