Bachmann 35-410 Class 47 D156 BR Two-tone Green

This is the latest class 47 diesel-electric incarnation from Bachmann. This was not really a planned purchase as we have a couple of class 47s already. However, the fact that it has speakers already installed and has a PLux22 decoder interface was enough to trigger a spontaneous purchase. The advantage of the Plux22 interface over the more ‘normal’ 21-pin interface is that there are no ‘logic-level’ outputs and therefore there are none of the problems that can occur as a result of incompatibility between decoder brands. I applaud the fact that Bachmann choose the Plux22 because some other manufacturers stick with the 21-pin and sometimes using my preferred Zimo brand of decoders means that not all the lights will work. This is due to the differing implementation of said ‘logic-level’ circuits.
This will be sound-fitted in due course with a new version of the Mr Soundguy project that will make full use of the pre-installed speakers, will work all the lighting and will incorporate some new features such as the lights dimming on startup. Watch this space!
