Reviews of Model Locomotives without talking or boxes, in many cases with DCC sound.
I am not Mr Soundguy, although obviously I support his products and his continuous striving for excellence in the field of model locomotive sound engineering.
After many years he has now retired, although his talents continue to be used by a major manufacturer.

Just got myself Resolven Grange today. Unfortunately, the DCC socket is in the locomotive and not the tender and my model shop said fitting her with sound (ESU Loksound) is impossible. So, I wanted to ask, how you did this. Does it require any modification to the body? What decoder and speaker is in there? Where did you get the sound from? The Grange is my only modern GWR locomotive and I want to have a Sound fitted locomotive of each of the big four. Can you please help me out? Thanks
Absolutly beautiful model! As you have said, runs like a dream. Very best wishes to Y, Kith & yourself R & look forward to catching up on the 23rd March!
Only gripe is the chuff rate is off. Watch at 0:51 and you can see it to be about 4 beats/rev. DOG is a 3-cylinder loco which equates to 6 beats/rev. If it was a Britannia it would fit well
hi there,i have just got mine in the same colour, its a FAB loco, i am one of a few who have seen these locos in real life as used to live in east sussex near Newhaven, i was seven, and remember then well in 1962,why its taken so long to produce these i don't know.20003 was a different shape, great memories, look forward to the next video,do you still have the Brighton Belle ?
Yes, it's a really good effort. Like you, I remember this one 70 years ago, startling me on West Byfleet down main platform! The BB has passed on - not as good a model as this...........
I agree its a good model but had trouble with its pulling capabilities on my layout at least, had trouble pulling 4 of the latest maunsell coaches up a slight incline, wish they had included a set of drivers with the "dreaded" traction tyres ! Hope you are keeping well Reinhard, great sound by the way, Stewart
Had the same thing with this one. Turned out the drivers were a bit 'greasy' on the treads. Wiped some 'Tidy Track' ' Clean Track Solution' on the track where the engine was. Magic ! It worked ! Problem over. Try this stuff on yours. It comes as a complete set with a couple of different applicators. Expensive, but worth every penny. Hope this works, Reinhard.
Another lovely model from Dapol, enhanced by Keith's sound files! Hope all is well with Y & yourself R. As soon as the brats go back I'll email about popping over to see you both! Until then take care! Boa
Hallo, Thanks a lot for making the time to make this video which has solved the problem I had with my Dapol Large Prairie. Besides the stalling at low speed on points , mine was also faulty as the trailing wheels were derailing on a given point and I could not figure out why. Initial try to fix was following an another advice ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oQv4xYinNWg.html ) but that did not cure the derailling problem. Removing the springs, as per your advice, was THE solution. My Large Prairie is now very happy with all the points on my layout and so am I ! Cheers!
This is amazing. I have just purchased this locomotive on DC but hopefully at some point will change it to DCC with the sound. It's such a smooth runner and built really well. I love the clip in tender and glowing firebox. Managed to get it for £126. Amazing locomotive.
