Served aboard Big Blue from Apr 1971 until Sept 1974. Made her first two Wespac tours with her. Back then we were COMPHIBFOR SEVENTH FLEET.

I was on the Blue Ridge shortly after it was commissioned in Philadelphia and served on it in the early to mid 1970s when it was homeported in San Diego, making two cruises to southeast Asia. I appreciate your trip down memory lane while at the same time I was taking my personal trip down memory lane on the ship.

Good stuff Shipmate, I served in BR from 1995-1997 and by far was the best tour of my 20 year Navy career! Kitty Hawk got Decom'd many years ago.

I was stationed at Marine Barracks Japan Atsugi Detachment 88-90. During that time, I was TAD to the USS BlueRidge. We made port in Hing Kong, Philippines, and Shanghai China.

I live in Yokosuka from 1988-1991 as a kid my dad served on the USS Midway there. You bring back memories! Nice video!

I served in Yokosuka many years ago, i Miss it so much. The fleet Rec, the McDonald’s on base, and the mall you went to, i think it was called Daiei mall back when i was there.

Great video. Got me emotional too. Think your getting old - I served on her from very early 71 till soon after the evacuation of Viet Nam in 75. 3 WestPacs. We visited Yokuska at least once each cruise. Didn’t spend much time in our home port of San Diego. She was one of the newest ships of the fleet the.

I last saw NQHS at Buckner Bay, early '75. OK City was COM7thFLT. BR is still over there, and will be until 2039!

I always had high praise for people who served in any type of risky jobs like the navy marines and military and so much more but i always wanted to visit some type of site but thank you for the video and your service.
