Just got back from a trip with Arluk Outfitters. Spent 4 days at Main River camp and 3 days at Caribou Lake camp. Water temps were unusually warm and the river was very low. Only rose a couple of fish at Main River, things turned around once we got to Caribou. Fishing was still tough but we caught fish every day. Can't say enough good things about the guides and staff, they were fantastic. Guides worked really hard to get us onto fish. Already planning a return trip!

I really like how Mark faces different conditions and explains how he handles them. I listened to him on outdoor journal radio podcast and he has earned my respect in being successful in a very difficult to survive industry. I also like his sense of humor - bailing into Scotts boat! I don’t know if I can make it to Arluck outfitters but I am going to try!

The provided definition of what constitutes a grilse is wrong! A grilse is a single winter ocean fish. Multi winter fish are larger and are salmon. It has nothing to do with the number of times a fish returns to the river. In fact, very few Atlantic salmon ever do return again after spawning.

Nice video but a couple of minor quibbles. First, these are Atlantic salmon and we refer to takes, not eats, when the fish takes the fly. Second, and I know lots would disagree, but I hate the sound of that reel. 🙄
