Matraca is too good for Nashville mainstream radio play and album sales. she's the real deal born and raised in Nashville Tennessee her music is pure earthy and many times possesses a hauntingly and appalling emotional beauty that leaves the listener awe struck and wondering why there are not volumes of her music available. in 1991 her album Bitter Sweet Surrender was rejected by RCA because it was too damn good and not "commercial country" She's' a song writing genius who's songs are recorded by some of the biggest names in country- Trish Yearwood, Randy Travis, Tanya Tucker, Reba McEntire.. I put her up there with Bob Dylan as far as song writing talent and ability is concerned . Buy anything she's ever made you wont regret it.
Such a fun song with a very fun video to go with it! I remember seeing it often on GAC. Most of the people that have been on the radio in the last decade or so have absolutely NOTHING on these legendary ladies!
This song is my favorite song from its era. The video is epic. I remember losing my mind every time it came on CMT and I still blast it on Spotify all the time 💙💙
patsy Cline and Willie Nelson were the reasons why i started listening to country music.....Matraca Berg and Mary Chapin Carpenter are the reasons why i keep listening to it...never have i heard a songwriter who is more creative with words as matraca....
I wish there were more Matraca videos on RU-vid, like "Baby, Walk On." She is a talent who won a Grammy at 18 for writing the song "The Last One to Know" by Reba McIntyre. If you look closely, you'll see her husband Jeff Hanna from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in this video.
The Fun Girls in Mayberry don’t hold a candle to these Fun Girls. Seeing Patty Loveless in handcuffs has me humming Chains, Chains,Shackles and Chains lol 🤪
I just Luvvvvvvvvv SINGER SONGWRITER'S. I feel they do 'more justice' to their song's than there "Star" Hit Singer's. Matraca Berg OUTSHINE'S all those who cover / sing her song's.
Catherine S. Todd, "... Big Names ..." AND Big Voices. Shoulda made 'em all sing for their supper before letting them out, long as they were all together at the same time.
2020 , i just heard this for the first time, on a classic country station. It's the best "new" song i've heard in forever. Why was it not more famous ?
@@edwardprice140 I’d be careful sharing any info with this person. About 5 hours ago, I got the same reply to one of my posts from 10 years ago. As much as I love her music and I know she appreciates her fans, Matraca Berg is not going to volunteer personal info. C’mon man, use your nugget (head).
@Matraca Berg🎶 Matraca, you have no idea how much I love this song of your & how many times I have listened to this AWESOMELY GREAT SONG while walking my dogs thru my neighborhood. Thank you so much for this "REAL COUNTRY SONG"!!! Much love from Mobile Alabama.
@@FXMAN66 Yeah, it puzzles me, fx, why some one would want to try to be Matraca. I love Matraca but she isn't all that popular except among us. Fuck you, fake Matraca!
I bought this CD when it first came out, but "Along For the Ride" became my favorite song. She is so talented and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (her husband's band) has always been near and dear to my heart.
I fell in love with a song that a contestant on Nashville Star performed "Strawberry Wine" (Angela Hacker ended up winning.) When I stumbled on Matraca's name and found out she co-wrote that song I immediately bought a copy of SUNDAY MORNING TO SATURDAY NIGHT and was blown away! What a great artist and find she turned out to be! I'm now a huge fan and news on her MySpace page is that she should have a new album out soon! I can't wait! Thanks for posting this great video!
This great song was co-written by the great Stan Lynch, first drummer for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He has gone on to have a great producing and writing career!
This song is delightful and hilarious by itself but the video .... They are having so much fun. Plus how can an incredibly talented singer songwriter be so damn cute too?
Great lineup! Matraca, Suzi, Faith, Martina, Trisha. Just missing Deana Carter, Matraca's friend, who did a super job with Strawberry Wine, written by Matraca and her writing partner Gary Harrison. As I remember the song won CMA Award for best country song of the year.
GREAT Country Song. I stumbled upon this Country Music Singer accidentally when i was reading the Wikipedia regarding another Singer. I knew Wikipedia was useful for something. :)
I agree. A brilliant album sung by a very talented woman. Shame she doesn't like recording stuff and preferred to write for other artists...she wrote Strawberry Wine amongst others. She's also gorgeous!
@Matraca Berg🎶 you are a gifted songwriter and singer that song along with back when we were beautiful will always be one of my favs. Your personal info? Lol
Came down from the Cadillac Dude ranch, health spa Nestled on the edge of town For fourteen days I've been Herbal wrapped, mud packed Now I'm bustin' out Well, I thought the wild west wasn't for me You walked up like a bow legged dream When you said yes ma'am, I thought I'd scream Oh, put me in your big ol' pick up truck Take me to the rodeo I don't know a thing about broncin' bucks And I can't do si do
If I had run into that crowd in that bar that night, I'da been Mr. Cool. Not star-struck or nuthin'. "How are you ladies all doin' tonight?" Yeah, sure.
I've loved this song since I was a kid. Okay so Matraca Berg (obviously), Faith Hill, Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless and Martina McBride are all in this video. Who's the last one? I can't read her card/don't recognize her.
You bring the barbecue And I'll bring the wine We'll dance all night 'Til your belt buckle shines Oh, put me in your big ol' pick up truck Take me to the rodeo I don't know a thing about broncin' bucks And I can't do si do But I can put you back in the saddle, baby Yeah, stand you up tall I can put you back in the saddle, baby Every time you fall
