Agreed! I listened since middle school but have finally realized the genius lately! I've already told my family Fire Water Burn is my favorite song of all time. Odd but you could play it 100 times a day and I would still sing along!
They were loved In Germany. I was living g there when they came out with hooray and hefty fine the germans I knew loved that shit. Didnt get half the jokes. BUt loved the sound
I was in the army when this album came out. My buddy who I went to basic training with was also my neighbor who lived below me at the time, he grew up with these guy's. I hop in his jeep to head work one morning and this album starts playing. I was like dude... "How'd you get this" and he was like "Oh yea, I grew up with them. They sent me a copy" Keep in mind this was in like 05-06 I can't remember exactly but I do remember it was a full 2 months or so before the album was actually available on shelves or anywhere lol. Long before people sold digital copies of anything. I was so so blown away and stoked. I burned a copy under the condition I burned no more and Didn't share it or upload it! which I didn't I didn't wanna do Jimmy and the band that way or my buddy! But I did get to rock this album Months before its release! I never took it out of my cd player and then when it was finally released I went and bought a copy to make sure I supported their release either way! Everyone who got in my car was like Dude!!! How!!! I never told anyone how because I didn't want them to ask my buddy for a copy or anything I just said I know people that Know people lol... Still remember how many people were like this is gonna be their best album and I was like eh all of them are good and this one is great too! I never made another copy for anyone though! I've never before that point got anything early lol or ever since to be completely honest. I was so fkn stoked! I bumped that shit for months and still do today sometimes lol as its almost 2024 and I'm still rocking this shit. fk... I can't believe that was almost 20 years ago... Remember kids... the older you get the faster time flys... It begins to move so fast and nothing you do will slow it down. You know those times you wish you knew you were in the moment and wished you paid more attention... Believe it or not that's literally ever moment... of every day... even if it seems mundane... one day you will look back on that moment and wish you were there again. even if you're set now. It's weird how nostalgia works lol
I read your story there, and enjoyed it man. I too, was from that era and have a similar story with Shifty from Crazytown and Club La Vela in Panama City in the year 1999. Their big hit was “Butterfly”, in case you forgot them. But I very much was taken back when I read yours. I graduated hs in 2001, right before the world changed forever. I appreciated the nostalgia man. 😎
@@alexjanons499 they self-advertised as a comedic rock-, rap- and popband. And as a comedic pop song it is an absolute gem. Genre has been a thing since the 50s, but it's been fairly niche for most of those seventy years. Bloodhound Gang is the only band I can think of who had any real success with it, and primarily because of Jimmy's songwriting abilities. If you read the lyrics word for word youll notice things few might ever come up with. Case and point, the two main verses of this song: "Dog will hunt I'm the front end loader travoltin' over so try my slam on for size Drive stick with that kung-fu grip let the banana split and watch it go right to your thighs Cop a feel copperfield style abracadabra that bra do you think I can pull it off? Wanna bang around? Just jot me down on your to-do list under "put out like a fire" 'cause..." and "Edible strange how do I get in your pants when you're tick tockin' them Serious Levis? So tight can't be classified that's why I'm here to fill that opening Make a seasoned pass to mount that ass and bob hope that I might one night stand a chance Let's go feng shui and fuck around my digs like a superball bring that sunny side up and..." My favourite line is "Cop a feel copperfield style abracadabra that bra do you think I can pull it off?". And why I said theyre the only band I can think of with any success in the genre is that, already, there are very few good comedians that can sing, fewer who combine the two in an impressive and meaningful (relatively speaking) way, who also really have the social skills to keep a band together. The only other guys doing anything in the genre that I can think of off the top of my head are solos, like the director of the Hangover series, whatever his name was. The song may not be everyone's cup of tea, and they might get some very unpleasant threats over the video if it was made today just because of the part with the dog, but it is a fabulous masterpiece in its own way.
Still listening in2024, god I remember hearing this song for the first time. I was a lil teen and thought it was the cleverest thing I’d ever heard. Somethings never change
+96rottie Hahaa. I still have VCRs where I used to dub music videos from MTV and then attempt to copy dance moves. I used to believe I was going to be a musician. Lol, coz I can't sing for shit. But it was so much fun!
+Valerie Lwile In my Country MTV was basically dead at that point. The music videos were very rare, stupid shows and idiotic ads for cellphone ringtones were the program. So it's funny, because i said the same thang you said at that time. :/
The 90s and early 2000s are irreplaceable and I can sense the era in this song. Everything was just so much more lighthearted and comical back then. Really I wish I could turn back time sometimes. :,)
@insanity wolf they have no clue. In the best case they may just stay bitter. I want to do something for them but they are hard to get by. Its like they never got to understand where north and south is...
This song was a decade before it's time. It sounds like a new EDM song, mentions tiktok, siri, and even has a smile squad moment. Setting the trend 10 years in advance.
Why is he so attractive? What the heck, I’m watching all of his music videos and the music is fantastic and he’s lyrically gifted - but my god, he’s my type! Lol!
+Graham Arms you saying "switcharoo" makes me vomit out loudAlso you spelled                     ^ wrong its, switcheroo
You need to look up "Alternative word forms in English language" through a search engine. After Elementary school, where you obviously stopped, the English language becomes a beautiful tapestry of words with a veritable swiss-army knife of uses in a near infinite variety of shapes and colors. Swicharoo, alternative of Swicheroo. Normally given in verbal form, i.e.: Swich'uh'roo. This public message has been brought to you by your friendly internet Grammar Nazi. Oh, and *cough* Hail Hydra *cough*
I started listening to BloodHound Gang when I was 6 and to be honest, I had no clue what the lyrics meant, but the beat and music videos were so amazing and various in styles and settings, that I just didn't care. Now that I can actually comprehend it more efficiently, I am never exposing my children to this comedic genius until they are teens.
+Veggie Militia ..used to listen to them during my middle/high school years and just started listening again.. brilliant lyric work ..it's a shame they had to do safe versions of their work
I was born in the 90s and I found this track long after of Its original release date. I was so hyped that I even did a remix for this song. Internet saved that day for me. Fucking awesome track.
It's weird to think that almost everything in BHG is done by Jimmy Pop. The synths, guitars, lyrics, all Jimmy. It's actually funny that a guy as juvenile and childish is also a really talented multi-instrumentalist.
I know they played tons of "joke" songs but many of them where so catchy and good. Then they had serious songs that were great but no one took seriously . Their cover of "Along Comes Mary" is amazing. I'm a big fan of "I'm the least you could do". I wish they would make a comeback.
@@rollvtpk9564 along comes Mary is serious. I'm the least you could do is rather serious. While every song will have some line in it some songs have more of a meaning than Mope, Kiss me Where it Smells funny, Foxtrot and such. What I mean is plenty of songs are good musically without a goofy message
@@LudaChez We can not love all the songs....but I don't hate one. And if you don't speak english very well like me, it's hard to understand everything.
The combination of clever innuendos and melodic feel in their songs makes me regret being too stuck-up to appreciate them back in the day. It's easy to brush them off as just immature, and it's probably true but only to a certain extent. Smarter than they were given credit for.
Bloodhound gang is the one guy in class who would distract the teacher for 45 minutes so that the whole class wouldn't need to write the test they were all preparing for...
It's the weekend You're 13 years old in 2008, You get home from school and play SmackDown Vs Raw 2007 with this song playing in the background. #Memories
