Thank you for sharing this. I can't express it properly without going into personal mushroom trips, but your explanation and insights really resonates with me and made me stop and think about how I smoke my own pipe.

I hear you. I got into smoking for both the enjoyment of the aroma and the contemplation enhancement it provokes. Yet the newness of it started a compulsion that really served to take away the purpose of why I began. I’m 3 months in and have 9 briars, 5 cobs, and 40 blends! Toward the end of June I told myself “This can’t continue!” So now a I’ve limited myself to one pipe a month. I’ve also determined to spend some time with the blends I have and try to figure out what type I prefer. I already have some leanings but want to continue to try smoking the same blend multiple times and in different pipes.

Glad the cardboard taste went away, “Latakia blindness” wow never heard of that, well I have been told playing with it too much will make it fall off lol 🤙

I feel ya! I can understand what you’re saying. It’s happened a couple times to me. It sucks. But after a day or two reset it’s usually fine. Not sure myself where it comes from. Maybe some of what you mentioned or higher nicotine levels in certain blends you try, or just an off day 🤷 happy it work through for you, great chat, I’m glad you’re back!👍😊

What you went through has happened to me. I threw my taste buds out of wack due to hoarding all these different blends. I never gave my palate a chance to absorb all the subtle notes in the different tobacco’s. When I couldn’t pick out a certain note I would be upset because in the reviews I was expecting hay , bread and cinnamon and I unfortunately didn’t taste that..I then would try another blend and the misery would continue..We have to give our palates a chance to adjust to the tobacco.. I have 25 mason jars of blends that I never gave my palate a chance to like and now since I’m retired I am smoking a jar each month and what a difference slowing down can make…Out of all my premium tobacco’s Velvet is my to go tobacco..Try adding a little unflavored black cavendish to a blend that is boring and you will see the difference…especially Prince Albert…. Keep on smoking!!!
