Hi Brian! It was very nice meeting you on this cruise. We were the family from NJ, my husband first approached you (I was way too shy, lol) but, you were very nice! We love the content you and Kerry share!
THANK YOU for the Effy info! I'm so excited to try to get a logo charm or earrings! Our favorite location for Oasis class ships is room 6660, we love deck 6 right by the Schooner Bar! In addition to tipping, I HIGHLY encourage mentioning specific names in your end of cruise review. When we ask servers and buffet attendants "can I take a picture of your nametag, I want to mention you in my review" they sometimes get teary eyed, they're so excited. It's the difference between them getting a raise or another contract, and being let go at the end of their contract.
Another time I tip is when I see someone cleaning a bathroom, cleaning the stairs, sometimes in the buffet when the person comes around to give you lemonade or takes your plates. I always take extra cash and have it with me. Some of those people cleaning the public areas acted so shocked that anyone would give them something. You are so right that the crew work so hard. We always give everyone extra like you do. Our stateroom attendant always goes above and beyond for us, too.
I love tipping $2 bills for this exact reason! Cleaning staff and supporting staff are often forgotten. And their smiles after the fact as you hand them a special something, they light up 😊
G’day again. Happy Birthday Kerry. Thanks for video, great to sea! So the Frosted glass according to Just Don, is because people were concerned of the lack of privacy. Especially their teenage daughters. That’s true. So they actually responded. Enjoy the cruise.
I hope you had a great Happy Birthday Kerry. Brian you did a great job explaining tipping and without doubt you are fantastic vloggers. I wish you both many more fab cruises and life together🎉🎂
The effy bonus bracelet / gift are super popular with the younger crowd My 13-year-old has a whole basket of the string bracelets and loves them . The quality of the strings look a little thin so when you pull them on you may need to put a little knot yourself to keep it from on sliding (You slide to make it tighter and looser You can put it on and off) .
Great dinner time question today! Loved your long answer. I have heard what some people tip on the different discussions and there's a lot of arguing. I like what you guys tip and I've written it down on my notes for my cruise in December and next September. Thank you!
I had my birthday cruise on Utopia last week. I got on when you were getting off. I love Utopia too it’s my 2nd favorite ship and all the shows are amazing on Utopia. I can’t wait to go back. Such a beautiful ship. Happy Birthday!!!🎉
We tipped the Adventure Ocean staff at the end of our cruise and they seemed genuinely surprised so don’t forget the people making magic for junior cruisers (if you use them)!! 🥰
Happy Birthday and Happy back on Utopia!! 🌊 I'm glad you love your earrings! It will get easier to get them in. For me, I pull down on my ear lobe a bit and feel my way in. Sometimes, it's a bit of an angle. I really like french hook earrings and you can use a safety stopper on the back. My 70th Birthday was August 5th! Hurricane Debby 🌀 came to help me celebrate at home with my Kitties in Jacksonville. 🐈 💕 🐈
Except for the saltine crackers. Lol. But it's "free" so I guess it's fine. But still, I've never seen cheap crackers served as an app in a restaurant.
Very nice of you guys to tip in cash, it is definitely appreciated. As a service industry worker I appreciate mostly any type of tip but there are definitely some who seriously under tip. Thank you for your insightful answers❣ Happy Birthday Kerry!
I´ll never understand why this responsibilty is passed on to the customers in the US....if your business model does not work when paying staff decent wages well maybe you should´t be running a business in the first place. In Europe a tip is just that - a tip
@@lukasweidinger6839 Agree, tipping culture is insane in the US. Only there to make big business more money and less for the hard working people on the "ground".
Was so excited to see you back on Utopia (and a birthday cruise at that 🎉)! I loved your dinner time question and your thoughts on tipping! We went on our first cruise in March and did pretty much as you do, but like the additional suggestions that we will use on our next cruise ((my birthday in March!) You guys are my favorite cruise vloggers by far! ❤
I’ve only been on one cruise but I tipped a crew member that was working in a public restroom. I figured she probably rarely gets tips and would appreciate it. If I lived closer to a port, I’d probably cruise more!
The way that glass in the hot tub is shaped it magnifies the water and if you're in it basically your body looks huge for everyone around watching. I think that's why they frosted the glass
Happy birthday! I love your vids, I love that I get your humor, love your real commentary and I do prefer Philadelphia cream cheese on my (buttermilk) pancakes 😬🤤(yes my partner thinks I’m weird for it)
First and foremost, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🎉. Calamari with dessert 😮. I agree with Brian about gratuity issue; however, I would like to know the perspective of the cabin stewards and others it involves. Thanks for video, it was nice. Oh, I went on the Icon in Feb.
I think tipping comes down to how much you value their service. If you believe that a room attendant should make as much as a surgeon in their country because they make you some towel animals, then you should tip them. If you don't quite think they should make as much as a surgeon, then don't tip them extra.
Happy Birthday! Regarding tipping. We always do prepaid gratuities but tip along the way as well. We have had some absolutely amazing service in the main dining room and in bars (where they remember us from cruise to cruise, what drinks we ordered etc), coffee bars, by our room attendants, etc. Auto gratuities are customary and should be paid. Anything additional is to express gratitude. We are generally overly impressed with the service we receive on a cruise and are happy to tip additionally:)
Once again.. Great Video.. with the Tips, at first I was disagreeing with you until I have heard you thru.. I do add the tip to the booking then, we take $500 in cash just for tips on a 5-7 day cruise. When we look at the cost of a cruise (with the tip) we add that $500 into it. We tip well the first day and see who takes care of us and adjust as the days go on. Thanks for bringing it up !! Rich and Lynn.
Gave my state room attendant and my main dining waiter 75$each and the assistant waiter 30$ for a 7 night cruise on Oasis and it was worth every penny.
Tip your stateroom attendant on day one, I do it as soon as I meet them. I have found the service level is so much better if you grease the wheel on the first day instead of the last day. I usually do $50 for a 3-4 night, $100 for 5-7 night.
Great to see you two back on the Utopia so soon! I love seeing younger people falling in love with cruising. It fills me with so much joy and hope for the future of the industry as a whole. Kerry and Brian I wanted to ask: As part of your tipping practices onboard do you all tip your stateroom steward upon boarding and meeting them or do you do it bit bit through the cruise? Thanks! Utopia for me on 9/9! woot woot!
I was on the July 29th cruise. I heard from some on our FB group that there were people in the hot tub doing what they weren't supposed to and not realizing it was see-through. 😲😉
Well that’s why you read up on it before you go to another country. If I went to Australia, I’d be sure to research how things are done there beforehand. It baffles me that we get all these foreigners here that don’t know you’re supposed to tip wait staff. Or maybe they do and just don’t care
Have you been seeing the trending Gus the Ghost from pottery barn this year? It’s basically like a towel animal ghost, called Gus… I think pottery barn has some explaining to do 🤨😂
