Would be cool to have a video showing how much ink you’re getting in the cartridge before you start pulling lines. I’m just discovering your channel so this might exist but that’s the basic kind of stuff I’d like to see. Also what you’re wiping with and how you clean it off to see what you’re doing.

Hey hey I'd love if you'd cover extra super thick lines for Traditional and which kinds of needles to use, the pluses and minuses of using shaders to do linework, what's the max size lining cartridge and is that necessary, and on the other end about thin micro lines- are 1rl liners safe to use for any kind of ordinary linework (we have so many clients coming in wanting micro, micro-micro mini tats and one client actually -requested- I use a 1rl, she wanted it as "fine" and "dainty" as possible, she wanted the smallest line that exists.) I'd love also if you'd touch on how to do geometry with linework and how to approach the criss-crossing lines. My mentor said to avoid criss-crossing lines even with geometry but I don't know if that's always possible?

Hello ❤ please talk on different types of skin on the body and the appropriate depth, ankles for example the back of the arm or wrists. Do you change settings on the machine when you move towards the back of the arm for example? Also positioning of the client for different tattoos. And the last one that came to mind: stencil placement: what kind of marks to do to properly align it and how to do an arm band stencil for example. (I know that all of this is probably here on RU-vid already, however I’d like to know how you do it ) thank you for this content and everything that you do🙏🏻

Hi threre, just wanted to say a big thanks for you channel, have subscibed and once back in work will donate a bit :) Only came across it about 15 minutes ago. Got a tattoo about 35 years ago. Not been a single time that I've regretted it since. Am not an artist but have got a cheap rotary gun ... and a lot of sythetic skin :) Won't touch my skin ( or anyone elses, obviously ) for quite a while, even though I'm not working I am quite busy with a CIC and doing a course on mental health awarness. However looking forward to this as being a new hobby in my 50's :)

Hey, love these new basics videos as I’m just starting on my tattoo journey. Something I’d love to see you cover would be varied line weights in a one pass line. I appreciate it’s probably not a traditional technique (or your style either) but it’s something I will be doing with my own style. I see most artist who do this using a sort of scribble technique to create a bit of a visual trick to make the line look thicker/thinner as it progresses. Is this a decent way to get that effect?

A very good tattoo artist told me that pull the line is the correct way. When I push the line the needle push back that makes hard to make a solid crispy line.

Hey Brandon, thanks for all the information, we really appreciate it. I have a question. I have a cheyenne hawk pen 3.5 and i practice realism. I want to get into micro portraits etc, but i am not really sure which is the right stroke for that kind of work. I am thinking of buying the bishop packer, would you suggest that or should i stick to the 3.5 stroke? Thanks in advance!

Great video. One question: Should I hold my machine rigid in my hand as I push/pull lines or can I move my wrist similarly to how I might use a pen?
@Tattooing101
@Tattooing101 7 месяцев назад
You can try to see which one works best for you. The important thing with how you hold your machine essentially is that as long as you feel comfortable and it allows you to pull/push your lines steadily. In the video the way I describe to hold the machine is what works for most people generally, but it's not a one stop rule for everyone

most videos seem to skip the part where they're adding ink to the cartridges and spreading vaseline on the lines before/after making a line. For whatever reason on the first time practicing i wasn't drawing enough ink in to the cartridge. Most likely due to having my needles too far out?

One question, does it matter what way the needle is when your tattooing or no matter what way it faces it will do the same thing such as in when u pull a line or push one but what if you were doing a circle would you stop and reset the angle of the needle or could you use the side of of the needle

It matters if you're only taking a break in the line and plan on continuing the line. In those cases you want to taper out your needle instead of lifting up directly

I don't know if you already have videos for my next questions. How do you know the depth of the neddle without cutting your fake skin? Do you have a how to adjust it once the needle is in the pen? Is it always 2mm, is that for fake skin or on actual skin or does it depends on the tattoo style? I've seen other videos that say 4mm.

It's OK to use it as a glide. You don't want to use it as a healing ointment. Tattoo glides are better for the skin than Vaseline because most of them have additives to help with moisturizing and swelling during the tattoo application.
