Gotta start by saying I’m a fan and love what you’re doing. However’ speaking as a healthcare professional and registred nurse for 8 years, being used to actual sterile procedures. Please stop missusing the word ”sterile”. There’s one thing in this procedure that’s sterile and that’s the needle before you open the package. The plastic wrap isn’t sterile’ the vaseline isn’t sterile, the tissue paper isn’t sterile, the gloves aren’t sterile and as soon as you touch the needle/cartridge with your non sterile gloves. It isn’t sterile either. The tattoo procedure, when done correctly, is clean. And that’s good enough to prevent infections and cross contamination. Also, gloves are used to protect the tattooer from blood and other body fluids. Your hands are CLEANER if you wash them and use a proper hand sanitizer before setting up and not use gloves. Studies have shown that overuse of gloves INCREASE the risk of infections and cross contamination. Due to a sense of false security. Thank you for your time and keep up keeping gatekeeping out of tattooing.

First off, dope video. Really informative update on the basics. General question but any brand recommendations for Amazon pick ups for practicing, specifically cartridges and a little clarity on what makes up the quality gap if Amazon cartridges are a “no no” or not up to industry par for tattooing actual ppl? Regardless, thanks for contributing all that you do/have. You’re the man and a huge resource for us learning baby artists!
@Tattooing101
@Tattooing101 6 месяцев назад
So I usually always tell people not to buy their cartridges and inks off Amazon due to the amount of fakes being sold on there. I can recommend if you're looking for cartridges that are more budget friendly to check out EZ Tattoo supply. They have some good carts there for pretty reasonable prices.

Hi, I'm just starting learning the basics, still not knowing if this is something I'm going to enjoy and keep doing in the short/medium/long term (I tend to left proyects/hobbies half way through)... considering that, I'm using low price materials until I figure it out if I'm gonna keep doing this or not😅so my question is: what can I do with a thin fake skin to make it work for a beginners level practice? (I got one from a tattoing kit and it's like 2 mm) will it work if I put 2 of them together or just accept it's useless and wait until I can buy a better one? Thank you! love your content, very helpful uwu

How do I learn the correct depth if my fake skin is thinner than 2mm? I've gotten to the point where I don't have blowouts but it looks too "sketchy" or sketch like unless I go back over and pack the pigment.

@Tattooing101
@Tattooing101 6 месяцев назад
I don't think we have a video on that out just yet but typically if you're doing portraits in realism there wouldn't be the use of bold lines. But this can depend on the design as well.

Newer to your page but am loving the knowledge. A buddy of mine who wanted to get into it and the decided otherwise had given me some skins to practice on, but I've heard about the weird rubbery feel of the cheap ones vs the real ones. The real one he gave me is only 1mm. The cheap rubbery ones are 3mm but feel so weird to work on and I do not like them at all. What sites/brands would you recommend for a decent skin to practice on?

Big fan of all the content you put out guys. Got a burning question tho. I recently bought a flite nano and a critical connect shorty power supply (rca connection ofc), however the battery doesn't really fit the machine properly and feels loose/disconnects randomly. Are you guys familiar with the shorty battery and whether or not it is actually meant to fit the machine? Thanks in advance (Happy for anyone to answer my query, thanks)

@Tattooing101 I've tried doing that :( when I push it further than it seems to want to go it feels like the connection will push into the battery or something. Luckily I bought another power supply and that one clicks in and runs fine. Was just hoping I'd get to use the expensive battery🤣

im returning to tattoo and learning to use wands over coils. Im practicing with fake skins and getting the same issues I have always had with my linework: STENCILS! I keep losing my stencil as i wipe ink away. Ive tried to let the stencil sit on the fakeskin for days before tattooing but it still gets wiped away as im lining it. On real skin, its usually the same thing, maybe not as bad, but i cant let a stencil sit for day, i can only let it sit for 10-20 minutes to sink it.

After you stencil it blow dry it on hot about 3 inches away in a sway motion, if you still have a problem it’s going to be you or the fake skin, try reelskin or trueskin
