I just learned that the Genie's outfit at the end of Disney's Aladdin when he decides to take a vacation is a tribute to the outfit Robin Williams is wearing in this special--the Hawaiian shirt and Goofy hat.

"Where is Peter Pan hiding?!" Was anyone else expecting Robin to say, "You know, Hook, I am just as stumped as you are."

Glad y'all like it; we loved making this for you. It wasn't made at Disney; it was subcontracted to a studio called BRC. Directed by Jerry Rees with Captain Hook animation by Bruce Smith and Mark Kausler. I was the lead key assistant on Hook. Most of us who worked on it got hired on "Little Mermaid". I later got to work at the Florida studio on "Brother Bear".

I just learned the little Lost Boy in yellow clothes (played by Robin Williams) was in the new short film, Once Upon A Studio, right before Genie shows up.

Started out as a lost boy. Became famous as an all powerful genie. Good lord Robin you stepped up high in the animated Disney world.

Did anyone else see Robin’s lost boy appear in Once Upon a Studio? I squealed when I saw him!

Rest in Peace, Robin Williams. You truly were a one of a kind comedian ❤️❤️

This makes me miss Robin Williams and Walter Cronkite even more. I have never seen this until now.

Peter Pan is my absolute favorite animated Disney movie. Ever since I was little I would always watch Peter Pan and Hook back to back.

Nice, cool, not bad, and funny! :) LOL! Robin Williams was born in 1951 (the year Disney's Alice in Wonderland came to life) and by the time he was 2 years old, that's when Disney's Peter Pan came to life (probably the first Disney animated movie he saw in theaters or on T.V. or cassette). That might explain why Peter Pan was his favorite Disney movie besides Fantasia.

7:39 GOT ME LAUGHING SO HARD!!!!!!!! How come no one is talking about Captain Hook screaming like an idiot?

This short not only seems to be a precursor for Robin Williams playing the role of Peter Pan in hook, but also his memorable role as the Genie.

Apparently we’re seeing this character in Once Upon A Studio in front of Wish in theaters this Thanksgiving.

I remember seeing this inside The Magic of Disney Animation (now closed) at the Disney-MGM Studios (now Disney's Hollywood Studios) back in 2001 and 2002! R.I.P. to both Walter and Robin.

In loving memories of not only Walter Cronkite and Robin Williams but also to Disney MGM studios itself.

I wish Robin Williams was still alive.

This short reminds me of the 1941 film "The Reluctant Dragon", where they showed the process of making an animated film. In "Back to Neverland" they resumed perfectly the same process in a few minutes.

I really miss the old Magic of Disney Animation. I first went there on my senior class trip in 1991, when it was still Disney-MGM Studios and had only recently opened. I fell in love with the whole attraction--the wonderful Robin Williams film, the glimpse of animators at work, the terrific montage of classic Disney animation clips. Best of all, I glimpsed some storyboards for Beauty and the Beast. When my friends and I left the building, it was growing dark and the sound system was playing "When You Wish Upon A Star." All was right with the world. It's such a shame they changed it the way they did--Eddie Murphy as Mushu was no match for Robin Williams. Even if it wasn't a working studio anymore, couldn't they have at least had a better/more classic character representing Disney animation? Now, of course, it's gone completely. I'd like to see them have some attraction that showcases classic Disney animation--the stuff that put Disney on the map. It's all well and good to showcase the new/popular movies and characters, but Disney shouldn't lose sight of the old classic stuff either.

For anyone who’s seen Disney’s recent short, once upon a studio, did anyone happen to notice the cameo from the Robin Williams lost boy from this show? I thought it was an excellent touch.

Back then when Disney created classic masterpieces that came alive

I saw that back in Disney World 2000. We learned how animation works, not to mention when we talk with one of the Disney animators showing a drawing of Sabor.

How come I'm only finding out about this treasure now?

Interestingly, he ends up playing Peter Pan.

From 3:09 onwards, THIS is what I miss in the art of filmmaking. 2D/hand-drawn animation. Also, who are the actors who voiced Captain Hook and Peter Pan nearing the end of this short film? They sound EXACTLY like Bobby Driscoll (1937 - 1968) and Hans Conried (1917 - 1982). Whoever they are, they did amazing impressions of the original actors.

Now Rodin is forever flying with Peter Pan.

I believe this is the video was the inspiration of casting him as the Genie in Aladdin.

I didn’t know this existed. Who would have thought Robin Williams would have been in something both Disney & Peter Pan related before Aladdin and Hook.

I remember when I went to Disney Land and saw this, before he was Genie, he was a lost boy! Which is funny seeing how he was Pan too, was this before or after Hook was made?

Heh, it always felt like a running joke that Robin would be afraid of the crocodile.

I seem to remember when they switched to the CAPS program, instead of them inking and painting Robin, they put him in the computer. At one point he seemed to disagree with the color scheme they gave him, so they made him random colors then he went “Fine. Do whatever you want.”

This 3:44 and this 3:55 are kind like Genie's funny transformations. That why they thing Robin Williams was perfect to voicing him from Aladdin. :)

Like everyone else, I wish Disney went back to hand drawn animation. Their movies and cartoons used to have that kind of appeal before they went with CGI.

I love how Robin's introduced acting like a suburban American tourist hick, but then immediately namedrops both Disney's classiest film and Italian director Federico Fellini (even if his character probably doesn't know what Fellini-esque even means).

And this is one of the things that eventually led me to film school

Fun Fact of the Day: this show has The Peddler/The Genie of the Lamp and Prince Achmed’s voices from Aladdin.

The story goes that they had trouble filming this because Robin kept cracking Walter up.
