Happy 2023 everyone!
On this channel, it is always my goal to feature content from from an assortment of different locations. Many of the locations I have featured are places that I collected shells at, or traveled to when I was much younger. Being born and raised in northern New England, today's location is near and dear for this reason.
Today, we are headed back to the beautiful and remote beachscapes of Plum Island, Massachusetts to find an assortment of shells washed in from the Gulf of Maine.

As I get older I keep hearing that same question in my heart that has haunted me my entire life "what would you do the rest of your life that would bring you immense joy?" This ... I would travel the world and hunt for treasures on the beaches and share the art of God and the sea with the world. My soul aches for this ... and given my life and its challenges and everyone must come before my own desires, I follow you here. YOU and your videos are the closest I may ever get to this dream. For that, I am most grateful. Thank you for this gift. People who have never shelled have no idea the healing, the love, the peace, the perspective of everything that comes with it. Shell on!

Your words have have truly captured the essence of meaning for why I enjoy creating, and sharing these experiences with everyone. Years and years ago, when I was 11 years old, my parents took me to Miami Beach, for the first time. I played in the trough where the waves were hitting the beach, and I saw that there were shells being washed and tossed around me. I collected a couple handfuls, analyzed, and appreciated the beauty - this was the moment...and I haven't looked back since. You have reminded me of the importance of capturing the beautiful perspective. Shell on, my dear friend!

We live close to Plumb Island and must have just missed you there last week. We ended up with some nice moonsnails. Plumb island is best appreciated in winter as the limited parking lots fill up quickly in the summer. It is truly a beautiful place, especially the lighting in winter.

Hello! This episode was actually filmed a couple months ago - I only saw one person on the area of the beach I was at, so it was a quiet day at PI, for me! Winter is the BEST time to shell and beach-comb here, so I agree with your sentiment - thanks so much for coming along!

Hello! It's so funny you mention this because, I realized(when editing this video), I only kept a handful of these goodies when I left the beach this day. After I did the outro, I left most of the shells on the beach. I LOVE to collect shells, but as my collection grows, I find that I only take specimens that are, new species(that I don't currently have in my collection), or, unique specimens of species - variations in color, shape, or biological mutation etc. Thanks for watching!

What a great day - no people, beautiful weather, my kind of shelling! So @ 8:20 when you showed us a "mollusc operculum," what is your guess as to what it belongs to? It is pretty large (my first thought would be a moonsnail) and it definitely has an interesting shape - not flat like like most operculums I have come across and it looks fairly thick. Additionally, considering how many moonsnails show up on this beach, from the videos I have seen from you and from others, from my vantage point anyway, it doesn't seem there are a lot of shells that show moonsnail drilling - even other moonsnails, unless, of course, their prey don't get to the beach. That one moonsnail that had been in a state of being broken down by organisms @11:25 - very cool would have made a great shell cleaned up. All interesting! Plum Island on my list to get to - LOVE the moonsnails! Thanks for taking us on another great hunt!
@solaceinshelling6552
@solaceinshelling6552 Год назад
Hello! Wow - such great observations! This operculum, given the size and shape, would most likely belong to a Northern Moonsnail - my best guess! Moonsnails are VORACIOUS predators, and will even eat each other! I may not have captured it here, but if you observe dead molluscs in this area, there are MANY times, drill holes, or attempted drill holes in the shells. Thanks so much for watching, and engaging with the content!
