Who's Rem? Guys, I think you're misspelling it. It's actually Ram, and this pink-haired girl has barely shown up in this episode, so why did you bring her up all of a sudden?
@@keithwallace5277 The person affected by gluttony loses their memory and is forgotten. But not only that, all of the person's belongings disappear as if they had never existed. For example, the content of the letter Rem wrote is completely gone.
@@keithwallace5277 Basically rem wrote the letter, rem existence basically poof (only body remains), the letter became blank because rem does not exist.
I'm anime-only, so I don't know if I'm reading too much into this, but each Sin Archbishop we've met so far has been named after a star, and their names seem like they might be related to their ability and/or character: Betelgeuse: from the Arabic _Yad al-Jawzā’_ or "the hand of al-Jawzā' (aka Orion)" -had the ability Unseen Hand Regulus: Latin for "prince" or "little king" -because he's a pompous prick, maybe? Baten Kaitos: from the Arabic _batn qaytus_ or "belly of the sea monster" -apt name for Gluttony, especially when he described the whale as his pet
There was a specific scene that got cut out from the light novell. Before the fight with Betelgeuse, Subaru was talking with Julius about the Archbishops and Julius told him that most are a mystery except for two. Sloth is known for being the most active one popping out here and there Greed is known for the one time he waltzed into a fortified city and singlehandedly killed everyone in there including alegendary general.
The abilities lies on the sins. Both the archbishop and beast of Gluttony have similar powers, and all of that comes from their respective witch. For example, the unseen hand is the witch of Sloth's specialty that's why it's Geuse's powers. Satella having those hands will be explained later on.
Misconception. The abilites don't come from the witches. They come from the witchfactor. And each holder of the Witch factor has a different authority manifest
Did I get them mixed up? 😆 I always interchange those 2 for some reason! Im confusing PRIDE with them. I can never remember which scent beetle juice could smell. I wont forget now! Sorry, it must be frustrating. Ive probably said like 5 different sins now 🤣
@@CarlieAndAngeyou already watch Full Metal Alchemist man.... You just remember all the sins again.... Greed, wrath, Pride, Envy, Lust, etc.... And there'll be 7 witch and 7 Archibald Sins (Idk exactly 😅) We already know, Archibald Sins sloth (Betelguese), Gluthony (Lyle), Greed (Corneas).... And the for witch of Envy (Satella), you'll know all other witch in this Season, so don't worry
Otto throwing him to the Whale wad not his own fault. You've seen the effect it has on people's minds. Otto actually turned back as soon as his sanity returned but was ambushed. That's why his dragon came back without him. Plus, Subaru had just punched him
@@nathanjarrett728 ah right, but personally, when im on otto's shoes, it'd be a total fact that i would have pushed subaru to his death to save myself i got paid to transport, not to die young
If you could re-watch your youtube video and pause at 6:42 right as soon Rye, Gluttony bites Rem. You will see a small glimpse of what Rem imagines her future memories. It makes it really sad.
Betelgeuse and the fingers of Sloth were assuming Subaru to be Pride, not Greed. So Regulus is not connected to Subaru through his aspect of Greed, totally different sins. However, without giving anything away, it is interesting that you came to the incorrect conclusion that Subaru has a connection to Greed.
Something that makes this sadder is in Rem's final moments she thinks to herself that she hopes when she dies that it sends a small ripple through Subaru's heart because she doesn't think her death would bother him because he has Emilia. She never knew how much she truly meant to him. Also in the novel Regulus slung his arm up in the air which cut Crusch's arm and that he attacked Rem because when she ignored his words that he doesn't like fighting she violated his rights and had to be punished accordingly.
Subaru is connected to the witch of ENVY (The Jealous Witch). Subaru and Regulus are not connected (yet) because Regulus is the Sin Archbishop of GREED. Cmon lads, step up ur memory game. Thats why u gotta binge.
Ange : I guess Rem's gone again. Carlie : But she's worth the fight. Carlie knows whats up. As long tissue boxes are nearby, everything's gonna be fine.
just wanted to say I'm glad to hear you watched Frozen Bond but I do also strongly recommend watching "Memory Snow" its less plot critical compared to Frozen bond but still provides a nice opportunity to see what Subaru's time at the Roswall mansion was like between arcs 2 and 3 and introduces some magic concepts that are good to be aware of.
Carlie and Ange. You can see a lot neat stuff if you go through the flashes that Rem was thinking frame-by-frame. 7:07 Crusch isn't dead here. Felix is upset at her wound. Since Felix is Felix he's able to reattach the arm. (There's no alternate time loop involved in Crusch's survival.)
So about Subaru's self-hatred that seemingly got "fixed" in episode 18: I think it is important to realize that that moment might have helped Subaru in the moment to find his resolve to continue after going through the hell that was Arc 3 to that point, but it really did not change all too much about Subaru's perception of himself. This does not shine through as clearly in the anime, but the external validation he got from Rem, while ofc. being very helpful, didn't magically fix everything about his character. So in a sense, what you pointed out about Subaru reverting to his old selve is only partially true. "From Zero" was only the start of this guy's character arc. Part of the inner monologue of the LN chapter that episode 18 adapted spells this out pretty succinctly (if you do not want to know about this "cut" content from the novels, do not read what follows: Even then, Subaru could not like himself. He still hated himself. But a girl had told Subaru she liked him. If there was a girl who could like him, just as he was… -Emilia was watching. Rem was watching. He could not yield. “-” The tale of Subaru Natsuki would begin anew. His life in another world would start over. -From zero
I still remember at this episode when sin archbishop said their names i immediately search it in google and it showed star name I wonder if there is hidden plot or its just a fun fact added by author
@@naghar9827It's important to note that "Petelgeuse" is the misspelled version of the star "Betelgeuse" and out of all the characters who are named after stars only his name is misspelled and according to the author it's done on purpose and is going to be important later. Spoilers (if you want) : Yeah, all of the archbishops have star related names, and the characters you have already met in seasons 1/2 who are not archbishops and have star related names are "subaru" and "aldebaran" (Priscilla’s helmeted knight
Even Subaru is related to stars. Subaru is the Japanese name for the Pleiades star cluster, also known as Seven Sisters. That's why the Japanese car brand Subaru has stars in its logo. Even Petelgeuse's name is fitting since Betelgeuse is a dimming star that's sometimes called the Hand of Orion. That's perfect for his Authority Unseen Hand.
I honestly dont know why Puck called the whale gluttony, i do have a theory puck is extremely old, it could be the whale lacked an official name when he knew it way back in the past so he just called it gluttony since it came from gluttony. thats really the only thing i can think of, puck has a vast knowledge of things. in the OVA, its shown rhat he lost his memories when he made the contract with emilia. so when she died in that route, he gained the 400+ year old memories he had.
I know I’m late to the part but I just got to this episode yesterday lol, but I had the exact same reaction to crusch loosing her arm, like they didn’t have to make me care about a side character so much
First of all, I don't understand English, so I'm sorry if my English is a little weird. I love both of your reactions. I think it was quite a shock that in the first episode of Season 2, Rem was forgotten by everyone other than Subaru and fell asleep. I was also shocked when I first learned about it. The original author does something cruel. Also, didn't you watch "The Frozen Bond" before watching Season 2? It's important to watch "The Frozen Bond" before watching Season 2.
I think, and could be wrong as an anime only dude, that the whale was created by the witch of Gluttony so has those same aspects given to it that the Archbishop of Gluttony also has, who also gets his power from the Witch.
Spoiler for anime onlys (maybe I'm not sure) : If you watched season 2 we can understand that Daphne's authority isn't related to memories or more precisely it's not the main aspect of it. Also you have to understand that authorities were not created by the witches, they were passed down from them. An archbishop can be stronger than a witch and vice-versa the only difference is the title they have. Also each authorities is different from wielder to wielder so it's important to know the differences.
them starting the question “who…. Is rem” completely destroys the suspense when it should have been. rem? Whos that? His question is answered too quickly as if they knew he would ask a certain way
Before watching season 2, you should watch the ova first to better understand the story in this arc. Especially for the Re Zero Memory Snow ova, it has a story about Emilia's past
Memory Snow takes place in the 2 month time skid between arc 2 and arc 3 of season 1. It's Frozen Bonds OVA that is about Emilia's past. Both are important for season 2.
