my school didn‘t have a no make up rule or a dress code really (the teachers would just make fun of the students with ripped jeans („were you jumped or did you fall?“) and crop tops („so did they run out of fabric for that shirt?“) the first few minutes to lighten everybody‘s mood before class)
Honestly,I don’t think any make up could be considered "pick me" anyone could wear make up and play w their beauty all they want without wanting and needing to be judge
Def agree. She does say in a comment section that she doesn’t know what a pick me is though. She thought it meant someone who stands out. It be like that
This is just my experience but usually the "pick mes" are the one's wearing no to minimal makeup - I remember them having the most to say about girls who were just experimenting or trying to have fun with their appearance via makeup. The girls in my high school who wore makeup usually seemed to be self aware it was a personal choice, meanwhile I witnessed many girls who wore minimal makeup publicly call out girls for wearing what they deemed too much makeup (even if it was just eyeliner and mascara). It's just so weird how much everyone reads into appearance.
@@kara6710 wear as much or as little makeup as you want. The point is that it doesn't matter either way. I (and I assume most others) don't judge people on appearance and immediately think "oh it's a pick me". Judgements are made only when an individual makes comments that show they find themselves to be superior to others for no apparent reason
I think it’s like a girly makeup- with pink, and a lotta blush and maybe the pick me says,” oh I don’t have an makeup on Jakey boo!” She has a full face of makeup 💀
@@lexy7168 nah she's not using it right. Pick me girls wear this kind of makeup and use it as a "see I don't NEED tons of makeup like the OTHER girls" type thing.
Remember guys, you wear what you feel is comfortable! Don’t worry about what it screams or what it might give off. If you wanna wear drastic makeup, you go right ahead! A more simple face of makeup? That’s great too!
@@katiebug906 ulta is (sometimes) cheaper and drug store makeup is really good. i recommend elf, you could literally find it ANYWHERE. a drug store, walmart, literally anywhere
@@Theothevaultscribe not at all, super hot, YES. but it does get super humid in a couple of places. unfortunately, it's humid-hot for 8 months where i live!
I love this girl, and dont think she actually had a bad intention in saying that, but it is genuinely impossible for makeup to make u a pick me and shouldn't be labeled as that. But other than that u rocked this look as usual
She mentioned in her Instagram post that she initially thought that "Pick me" referred to drawing attention to yourself. This is why she wanted this natural makeup to not be a "pick me" look. She meant to imply that this look would not draw attention to yourself, especially in schools where makeup isn't allowed and teachers would get students in trouble for it. Hope this clears up some of the confusion :)
I haven’t been in trouble for makeup, today I wore a black Smokey eye with orange glitter, giant wing liner and lashes with a black lip. Wear what makes you happy.
I don't understand how makeup can be pick me. Does she mean natural makeup? Are we now shaming girls/women for not wearing makeup or only wearing a little? Smh y'all are just sexist, a woman can't even exist without being criticized for everything
yea im confused on how you can look pick me when it's a mindset but ig her point is girls who wear makeup but pretend like they're not so they can tell everyone they're natural idk
Uhm I think it just simply means minimal make up for school. Not loud that you look like you're partying or in an event, attracting too much attention, instead of being a student - type of look. Nothing sexist or anything and because there are ladies who would overdo their look. I have no idea how ya'll get in that mindset.
@@pennyinheaven ok and what’s wrong with overdoing it? Why does that bother y’all? Stop shaming people for what they wanna do! A “pick me” is a mindset or attitude not fucking makeup! Now people are gonna go around calling people a “pick me” over some fucking makeup, like be fr some people just like makeup
@@Bowii3_ It prolly started because there are old school teachers/staff that are not comfortable with heavy make up on students. And there are prolly kids who overdo them unintentionally then get attention they didn't mean to happen. Ik it's just make up but TPO - time place occasion - applies on it too.
Dude I wear bright makeup all the time to school. It's a way to make a boring/sad/depressing day fun! Just because you're wearing bright or overthetop makeup doesn't mean you're a pick me at all.
I really like wearing bright colors like red and blue and yellow, but if you want a no makeup look, you go for it and you go slay. There’s nothing wrong with any style as long as you like it and you feel comfortable in it!
Pick me is an attitude/personality type. I can't think of a certain type of makeup that I would call "pick me". Wear whatever makeup you like as long as the school allows.
My school doesn't care at all lmao, no strict dress code (girls wear crop tops and don't get in trouble) and I wear BIG eyeliner, no one says anything bad and I've even gotten compliments from teachers
School makeup for me is "nothing for 4/5 days, then something wacky on Fridays". Something like bright orange lipstick, or spiderwed eyeliner, or jester triangles, or huge bright blue eye bags. Works great for me, lets me do something fun and eye-catching without really compromising my sel-image or having people only get used to what I look like in makeup. I get that it's not for everyone, but it's very fun and I'd reccomend giving it a try
Lmao everyone at school calls me a pick me. I wear a full face of makeup to school every single day, because I'm really proud of my skills and also, it gives me a reason to get out of bed
Girls at my school use a full face of makeup every day, and the teacher just says “I love your lipstick. Where did you get it?”. So I guess it’s fine 🙃
I think I learned to highlight my Cupid’s bow from you!!!! I’ve been trying to figure out where I got that from. Im so glad too because since I have a pretty defined Cupid’s bow, highlighting it really makes it pop and it makes my lips look really good
As someone who wears a full beat to highschool (foundation, eyebrows done, concealer, contour, highlight, complex eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick) it genuinely doesn't matter at all in terms of being a "pick me" or attention at all, BECAUSE I'VE BEEN IN WITH THE SAME KIDS FOR THREE YEARS STRAIGHT AND I ONLY TALK TO ONE PERSON, IN THE ENTIRE SCHOOL. AND IM THE ONLY ONE WHO DOES FULL BEAT, YET I DONT TALK TO ANYBODY AT ALL. It really doesn't matter lmfao
I used to study in APS and you know what we were not even allowed to wear studs in our ears. Reminder: the school uniform was fully covered i.e your head too. Under a headscarf, they would check if we wore any kind of jewelry. We were fined for that let alone makeup :/
aps as in army public school? i think the rules differ per branch and stuff, cause my mom studied in that system many years ago and it wasnt as strict, and now my cousins study in the same branch but it isnt as strict as your comment is saying, unless i got the school wrong of course
My art teacher has beautiful makeup. She only wears mascara eyeshadow and lipgloss, but her eyeshadow is pink and sparkly, and she just wears it on her lid. It looks so beautiful
I don't think wearing a lot of makeup screams pick me. Pick me is more like "yeah I'm wearing like nothing" when they clearly have makeup on. There's nothing wrong with wearing makeup bc I wear a shit ton of eye makeup but like when you're purposefully seeking attention from others for compliments by saying you're not wearing makeup is being a pick me
Y'all are lucky going to school wearing makeup my mom would literally wake up the same time with me so i didn't apply anything sus and apply a lot of oil in my hair and made two tight braids and also our indian uniform is not at all fancy it's literally salwar kameez so yeah
aww that's alright!!! this is the time of our youth and im sure everyone's going to remember these memories fondly when we grow up and we have our entire lives ahead of us to wear makeup and find our style!!!
The eyeshadow and the lipstick are pretty noticable and also I don't think any teenager has so many makeup products (specially me) because the only things I own rn are a few mascaras ,an eyelash curler some lip balms/lip glosses ,a skin tint and a highlighter
OKAY SOO‚ I'm in yr 8 this is my thing AND IT'S AMAZING I GET SO MANY COMPLIMENTS 🤭🤞 DO IT Eye lash curler Paw paw/Vaseline (put on after curling) MORPHE CREAM BLUSH IS UR BEST FRIEND IN THIS if you're feeling 💫cute💫 and ✨bold✨ I use the Maybelline concealerrr just two small dabs on each though And a non sticky lip gloss my one I use is the revolution shade watermelon btw And I waited 3 years to do this stuff it's all in the skin care please just do skincare 🤞🙏 and then maybe you don't even need this gorgeous queen 💞💞
I think pick me girls I remember would wear their makeup like completely bare face but bunch of blush that didn’t flatter their shade so like a strip of red blush ya know, BRIGHT WHITE HIGHLIGHTER everywhere just lines of it on their face, clumpy thick black mascara, and eyebrows and dry lips that’s all.
for me if i saw someone with that look i would think they would be wearing makeup me personally i wouldn’t classify that look as a “no makeup makeup look” but it does look really pretty and pretty natural
what is the stereotypical pick me makeup though? like, does it mean having light and subtle makeup? I think that's totally fine, wearing light and subtle makeup is okay and I think it looks natural and gorgeous. you can wear any type of makeup you want, just don't make other people follow your rules as well but shaming them for the things they wanna do, THAT'S pick me behaviour, by when it comes to makeup, there's no specific makeup that a pick me wears lol.
I remember in highschool I didn't even wear makeup. Not just because I didn't really have interest in it but also because I didn't want to get up any earlier than I had to before school, lol. But if I did I'd probably have worn something simple and quick, like this
My makeup routine(starting with skincare, super natural!!) Peachy clean cleansing balm Byoma clarifying serum Bliss ex-glow-sion moisturizer Hawaiian Tropic cream spf 30 Neutrogena lip plumping serum Elf tone correcting primer Elf camo concealer (only under the eyes and only a little bit because the coverage is INSANE) nude eyeshadow great lash mascara tiny bit of blush on upper cheeks and nose (forgot the brand) Morphe lip oil Elf soap brow super natural and i wear it everyday also really easy to remove
The pick me stuff is getting out of hand, now it sounds like something people say to any girl that stands out even a bit on absolutely anything. That's bs.
At my school they don’t care if you wear makeup one of my favorite parts of getting up in the morning is doing my makeup and I love doing the whole thing and I don’t really get any attention for 🤷♀️
everyone saying which “type of makeup is pick me” but wearing makeup doesn’t make u a pick me, really shows how you guys dont know the meaning and just roll with it.
People really think making fun of “pick me girls” are doing something productive. I think we should stop labeling young girls and women negative terms. It’s spreading hate not combatting it. How many bad names can you think of for women…? How about for men? There are more than enough bad things women get called and this “pick me” nonsense is just another form of hating girls and women.
Do you get in trouble if you wear make-up at school in america??? Because I'm dutch and i have some people in my class(including me) who wear make-up. And we never get in to any trouble. I didn't even know that getting in trouble for wearing make-up was a thing. But anyways she looks beautiful as always
Unless you attend a fancy private school with special rules or a super cheap and crappy school no we usually don't get in trouble they can only dress code someone for their actual clothes not their makeup, hair or accessories. (Hope this helped)
Ok I know this is off topic but I am literally crying right now and I need to rant I just got a haircut for school which starts tomorrow. Just came back from it 5 minutes ago, I wanted like cute layers curtain bangs you know. When I tell you she gave me the most horrible, choppy, hideous haircut ever I am not kidding. I asked for curtain bangs and they look like real bangs I asked for layers she just chopped off my hair in different lengths So I am sorry that this is so off topic but I am literally going to die
if it’s not too long you could go short. same thing happened to me last year but it was really short, like pixie cut length, i just let it grow out tbh. looks fine now. you could also tie up ur hair.
@@ccasey08 hey ! i used to went through the same after getting self cut bangs- thankfully there were just mixed opinions but i really liked them so idgaf. i recommend tying them up and clip them back or just clip them to your hair. you can also use hair gel to stick them into other pieces of hair until they grow out !
hair grows back, so as bad as it is to deal with it, that’s all you can do - but there are ways to cover it up. and tbh, nobody cares how you look, everyone’s too invested in their own drama and life to really take notice (unless that person srsly has no life and feels as tho thats the only thing to point out, which happens not so often)
In most schools, do kids get in trouble for makeup? I’m a teacher at a middle school and some kids wear makeup daily. I also wear a full face daily and have since I was in high school. I even used to wear red lipstick everyday in high school a la ✨Taylor Swift ✨ But I have students that have full winged liner on daily.
Miss if your living in India..and attending school as well..here girls are strictly not allowed to wear any makeup..from college onwards one can opt for makeup..not in school..as we go there for study not to attend a fashion show..so impartial knowledge is much dangerous then no knowledge at all..
I didn’t even know that any makeup could “scream pick me”. Makeup is just makeup no matter how you wanna do it… I’ve never read someone’s personality based off of how they do their makeup.
I thought the term "pick me" refer to the behavior not the makeup 🤔🤔🤔 even tho you put on minimal makeup (or often time no makeup bcs yk, makeup is associated with girls and they want to be different with other girls), if you act like pick me girls then you'll called pick me 🙂🙂
Can we stop with the " pick me" shit It just turned into another way for people to shame women and young women for wanting to be wanted and thats not an issue
Wait y'all have makeup dress codes at your school? I went to school everyday for like at least a whole semester with some VERY intense makeup looks and graphic liner and it wasn't a problem. I know ppl that have gone to school in clown makeup and a lot of girls at my school wear huge lashes. Maybe it's cuz I go to public school????
How can one get in trouble because of makeup ???? Is it not allowed in America ? I'm from Germany and honestly sometimes I've been in school with a full face of makeup and no one cared
@@ccasey08 I'm sorry because they're literally so perfect. Especially for makeup. I know that the industry hasn't been kind to these eyes but they're honestly so pretty.
There’s no real makeup that screams “pick me” for anyone who’s worried they look like one. If you mention your makeup as a way to put other girls down you become a pick-me, but that’s because of how you talk about other girls makeup, not how your makeup looks.
