I am from HoustonTexas and I can say Blacks and Mexicans had switches in the 1960's. I remember those days. The Mexicans/Chicanos, they took more took more time to have shows, parades and put their cars out for people to see. That was on the north side of Houston. On the south side of Houston Blacks were doing their thing as well. Meeting at McGregor Park and rides downs MLK and Cullen street.

Lowriders started in Bellflower back in the 50s!! Larry Watson and those dudes were painting and lowering brand new Fords and Cadillacs while the hot rod thing was going on, not sure when hydraulics came into the picture but if you look into the history of the Bellflower car scene and go from there I bet you’ll learn a lot. My guess would be the East LA guys started installing hydros first but I can’t say for sure

If you ask someone Black, they'd likely say "Us". As a fellow lowrider, I'd be interested in knowing. But ultimately it would still be hotly debated.

I seen something on WeGoneRide I believe and some black dude who broke down the origins of how they inception came about and the first hydro pump was off a airplane or something to that nature.. wish I could remember the guys name.. he was even on ig showing pictures in the late 60s of original pumps and dumps time stamped from that time in his garage being one of two people I believe who had the blueprint on the engineering pumps and dumps, hoses, batteries etc .. we all pretty much watch the same channels, hopefully somebody can recall who I’m referencing

It's tied into our experience and discriminatory tactics especially in California It's OK for everyone to lowride but it's not OK for people to steal mexican americans history
