Very impressed. Damn. Bootsy represented. I never got past that first stage and he does it like its nothing but on the other hand, as soon as i heard he beat battletoads, i knew he could beat this game cuz battletoads is a pain in the ballsack for real. Great vid
MrAdrenaline1982 lmao. I think I beat it. Manuals were the thing. From that, you just needed to know WHEN to use what ability or item or whatever. But...yeah....manuals
Whatever you can imagine...yes I was there, with this game and it was fucking brutal. Unlike Agon up there I thought manuals and instructions were for stupid people ...I was 9 lol
Another problem with this shitsplat of a game: Clara's tombstone on the game over screen reads 1855 even though the movie is set in 1885. Because, you know, it's not like the dates are important in Back to the Future or anything...
Well played, Bootsy! I liked how Bootsy just took the game apart systematically, never lost his cool, Mike and James were nattering and he just stayed in the zone.
I get a kick out of the fact that I remember all the things that they don’t about BTTF3. 😂 The derby hat that Marty was embarrassed to wear. The pie dish that was a frisbee. 😂
I got mad respect for Bootsy now that's for sure. He must be good at those kinda challenges and puzzle style games. He went into a total focused state while playing. Respect!
I'm so glad you guys actually bothered to try and play a game properly for once this time, instead of nitpicking about the tiniest things. Fucking massive respect!
Wait. If you do everything correctly in the last stage, you don't even see the DeLorean because the screen fades to black? What kind of level design is that?
I enjoyed this video, but I kind of noticed that as a "side-kick" Mike is a much better commentator and much more easily keeps a conversation going. James, at least to me is not as good when he is not the main focus, I am not sure if it is because I am more used to him as the "nerd" or if his type of personality just isn't showcased properly in this video. Nothing against any of these guys, it is a great video as usual and getting to see the guys hanging out with one of their real world friends in such a natural environment is always a positive. Seems as though Mike and James were correct in their assessment that Bootsy is a pretty damn good gamer, he flexed those muscles here no doubt.
How do you capture the footage from genesis? are you using the shitty composhit or RGB? Picture quality whit RGB is just mind blowing compared to composite and even S-video. Though american TV:s doesn't have SCART inputs like here in europe it can be little harder to use RGB.
NuffMan He's recording straight out of the tv, so that way he can plug in any consoles and record without any issues. Probably through a vcr hooked to a dvd burner.
Hes using various recorders for game play and wacthes it then writes dialog while doing so. He did a whole video about called the making of a nerd episode.
Back to the Future III is a really bad game, but I don't think it's as hard as people think. It only requires some memorization (and not that much) because the game is so short, that they needed to increase difficulty, so people couldn't beat it on their first try. I have a video completing the game and I must say that is not even in the top 20 of hardest games I've beaten. We must understand that James and Mike are not skilled gamers, but showmen and really good at that. Anyway, congrats Bootsy for demonstrating that is not as hard as it seems.
Landon Acornley Haha, well, you are right. But for example I like challenges and high difficulty in games, even if they are not very good. Most challenging games are not usually masterpieces. BTTF3 is one of the worst games I have ever played, but I enjoyed trying to beat it (not the game itself). I must say that I also enjoy good games, that I'm not a complete masochist, haha.
***** I didn't know that game. I have just watched the trailer and It's the kind of challenge I love. What a pity that the game is not available for PC. Thank you for the info :)
***** I haven't played Sonic 06, but it depends on the game. I don't usually like unfair games, for example, the CPU reading your inputs, random things, horrible controls...that sort of things. But there are some unfair games that are actually really good, like Turtles in Time (the arcade game). It's a fantastic beat'em up, but it's completely unfair. If you try to complete it with 1 credit you will see that the game is all the time trying to kill you with all kind of traps and things that don't depend on your skill. So, yeah, I'm with you, I prefer a fixed challenge that only depends on your skill, better than unfair games.
I remember getting this game from the video rent store and never ever being able to get through the first level. Yes, the legend is true: the hardest first level of all times! Congratulations Bootsy.
Bootsy is like the perfect gamer, and one that reminds me of myself. Just sit there quietly and keep doing your best. Ignore the annoying distractions around you, learn as you go, and just silently progress forward. And once you accomplish something, THEN celebrate and act the fool. Nice to see one of the hardest first levels ever finally get beaten, and the entire game in fact! Very impressive.
Faces of Marty and Dock takes me back to Undertaker's loss at Wrestlemania XXX,especially reaction of one guy,who revealed his favor for Brock Lesnar, who sensationaly won
Shi9k Sure was,you had to do like 10 challenges in a minute or something,it was rutheless. Kinda fucked up that if you don´t pass that level(wich is technically supposed to be a tutorial) you´ll never see anything else from the game lol.
I think that the Nerd needs to play Takeshi's Challange, that would be quite entertaining. Or it could be played on here, either way it would be funny.
Me and some of my friends organised a night where we would do nothing other than trying to complete this game. It took quite a long time, but I finally got past the first stage, then the second. My friends were stunned, but it took us hours, unlike Bootsy here, though none of us could not get past the third stage. So, well done, Bootsy. I am the one who is stunned here.
I remember this game. I was about 10yrs old. My parents let me rent it one Friday night after I'd finished all my homework for the weekend. I eventually beat it, but it wasn't until Sunday evening of the same weekend. Anyway, this brought me back. Thanks.
Yeah, the game footage looked dark to me too. I noticed that while I was editing the video. I played the game again to make sure nothing was wrong but that's just the way it is. - Mike
Cinemassacre Hi Mike.......& James (i know hes lurking) lol. i know some games have been reviewed in the past, but would you guys consider doing some rip-off games, ive seen a game like BTTF, but i cannot fucking remember the name of it, my friend had it on super famacom back in the early 90s, Been a fan since 2006, one of the lucky few who have James's old email address from the first Cinemassacre web page, when it had like 5 videos on the site (i dont use punctuation) hehe Cheers guys
I swear to god I played that game for a full week once trying to just get past teh first level. I never managed it. I used a game genie to try out other levels eventually. But never beat any of those levels either. This is truly a sight I had written off ever seeing. Thank you, nerd.
Maybe do Knuckles Chaotix on 32x. Left it on the reddit page, but that's flooded with people suggesting 30-hour RPGS and Majora's Mask for some reason.
I cant explain how ridiculously excited I got when I seen this weeks James and Mike Mondays features Bad Luck Bootsy :) I think Bootsy just became Good Luck Bootsy after that accomplishment! I was just as stunned as Mike when that happened :)
Back to the Future 3 is my all time favourite movie, and when I found out this game was this week's video, I was like... Well, take the Nerd's reaction to "You're Winner" from Big Rigs, and you'll have my exact reaction. Also, to answer James's question, Marty has 3 hats in 1885. Hat 1 was given to him from 1955 Doc with his goddawful outfit... Clint Eastwood never wore anything like that. This hat gets left in the DeLorean after Marty runs away from the bear. Hat 2 was given to him by Seamus McFly. This is why Buford thinks he's Seamus in the Saloon. That dawg ugly hat. Hat 3? 1985 Doc gives him this after informing Marty that if he walks around town in his current attire, he's liable to get shot... or hanged. Also, I gotta question how many balls or brain cells cowboys have. They're fighting Clint Eastwood on top of a train, heading towards Shonash Ravine at about 50 miles per hour. And now that I've watched this twice, I can safely say that this ending was worse than BTTF 1's ending. And that was LJN standard. Couldn't we get, like, a 16 bit style cutscene of the DeLorean going through time?
I still have a week of college finals, I need more Cinemassacre videos to play while studying! Whether they're James and Mike videos or just videos with James or Mike talking about random things, they make studying less grueling! haha
Θοδωρής Καραπέτσας That was Maximum Carnage not Spiderman. Spiderman for the SNES literally titled "Spiderman" is the best LJN game that I have ever seen. It is much more fun than Maximum Carnage and is based on the 90's cartoon series. I hope James does get a chance to play it.
MarioMiyamoto Thank you! You know exactly what i'm talking about! For an LJN game it really isn't that bad. My only complaints were that Spider-Man looks like shit, and the controls are a bit shit. But otherwise, yes you are correct. It is the best LJN game i have ever seen and probably better than the ones the Nerd reviewed.
The gallon in "ten gallon hat" derives from the Spanish galón meaning braid. So a ten-gallon hat is a hat with a braiding around the brim. A ten-gallon hat actually only holds 3/4 gallon or 3 quarts.
You know this should be a regular thing, get Bootsy in to try to beat some of the hardest games ever. PS the looks on Mikes and your face when he completed the first level are classic! :)
I think it's bullshit when people say that the 90s were the best decade for video games. The vast majority of games sucked ass, just like now, and there were some standout games, just like now.
OmNomNomNomNom brosef there are tons of creative games now. They're drowned out in the media by the Call of Dutys but they're there. Minecraft is one of them. Even though I hate it, it's still good and creative.
I hate to say it but the best era's in gaming for me were the Ps2 era and N64 Both those systems had Amazing library's of games and because of that, those are my 2 favorite systems of all time to this day
