It was inevitable that at some point in the 'Hiking the Wainwrights' series I would end up back in the same place I was in March during that crazy wintery night. It was weird standing there in the camp that nearly ended it all!
Today was a typical British summer day. AKA sh*te! 😂
As always, thank you so much for watching; I appreciate all the support you have shown me over the years!

Really hope this hasn't annoyed the Achilles! We can wait for a walk. Your health comes first! Without your Achilles, there ARE no vids. Just thinkin' of your welfare, dude. Thank you as ever for another beautiful walk. The gifts Mother Nature blesses us with via your efforts is breathtaking.

our countryside is beautiful..we have a very unique landscape which varies so much...from the lake district and the yorkshire dales in the north to the beautiful norfolk broads and the peak district in the midlands/east anglian coastline...to the west country and devon/cornwall..its so unique as every region we have is far different from each other...however the north is so much prettier and better to visit as the south is far more populated...to our colonial cousins over the atlantic..they are always welcome...

Just subscribed, brilliant stuff, hard to imagine doing these walks in hobnail boots, tweeds, canvas Bergen, flat hat and a pipe, bet Wainwright took Kendal mint cake with him, and water in an old army felt covered enamelled water flask.

Love the lakes, although I don’t live that far away, I don’t get there as often as I’d like…and as I’m stuck behind a desk most days, it’s nice to go out on a virtual black crag walk…reason enough to subscribe I think 😊

On a family weekend away recently it was raining constantly so no one wanted to get out and I ran a route, the same first part of the route to Blea Rigg, but then turning towards Silver Howe. The whole journey was ankle deep water, basically the paths were rivers. Hilarious conditions. Loved every moment of this stunning place though! It’s my favourite part of the lakes.

So many sweet spots to pitch up but weather can change, usually the way grass blows and points is a clue to any slight hill that may shelter you from the elements

In the Brecon Beacons (I think) there’s some wonderful guys who are removing the bracken - with something that looks like it should be in a video game - and then planting native trees. Bracken is awful stuff for smothering the land and killing wild species. Maybe one day they can show us how it’s done!

Epicly stunning Mr Crag! As it happens, Tarn Crag was our 214th and final WW so that picture you showed that you took in the snow, well, we need to buy it as a momento of our completion (just gotta wait til we get back from hols, we're heading up to the Lakes on Wed, actually cannot wait!!). We love Far Easedale and the tarn, such a beautiful area (hence why we chose it to be our final). Epic :)

"I'm absolutely Hank Marvin" 😅, haven't heard that one for starvin' before. But I do like The Shadows, as I always enjoy your videos, especially when you take me home. ❤ I did that walk a few years ago with my sister, showing her the house where I was born (Thorney How) on the way. After leaving Easedale Tarn, I'm guessing we took the righthand path towards the crags. We then walked down to Stickle Tarn, down Stickle Ghyll and back to Grasmere via Chapel Stile, High Close and Red Bank. - Missing Grasmere Sports!

Thank You for another exciting, and picturesque adventure, BC. So glad there was no potential of you becoming a human kite this time! 😊 As an artist, and photographer, I totally agree with you, you just can't force inspiration. And you are so right when you say "And don't beat yourself up about it!" It's about balance, when you're in the flow, you will put the time in. When you're not, you rest. It all balances out. 💚

Memories. Done in three - Blea Rigg from Silver How and down by Easedale Tarn when the only hole in the cloud cover in Lakeland was over the Vale of Grasmere, High Raise and Sergeant Man in perfect summer blue and yellow from Langdale by Mill Gill (I will NEVER call it S*****e Ghyll) and Bright Beck, Tarn Crag on a Sunday out from Manchester following the ridge up from Far Easedale and crossing Fiddle Steps. It all looks very different now, even the most recent of those is over thirty years back...

You are such a nice person and your narration is so comforting. Thankyou for making these essential videos. (My only silly suggestion is I think you deserve a more theatrical hat. Sour Milk Ghyll apparently got its name from the white frothing waters and that it’s with Churn Milk Force but there’s the remains of a medieval fulling mill there and so I’ve always wondered whether it was called Sour Milk because of all the stuff (dung/urine) they would’ve used at the mill. Sorry it’s an absolutely pointless and abstract musing, I just love the etymology of place names. 😳
