Really someone complaining about fuck in free videos that have so much free knowledge. Worry about soaking up the information not someone saying a dirty word! Carry on Scott thanks for all this great info

Just want to say thank you for the great FREE content! Im new to RDS, and your videos have definitely helped guide me through the process of making the switch from irons..

Solid video, I have both in front of and behind. It really doesn’t affect me if it’s in front of or behind when shooting, but I will say this, in front of does offer a degree of protection for the lens however. It’s not super important, but it is something.

I have two RMR mounted Glocks, a 19 with the rear sight in front of the RMR and a 34 with the rear sight behind the RMR. My vision is also craptastic and like Scott said, I do not see the iron sights on either one unless I specifically look for them. The only difference I have seen is some holster designs work with the irons in front of the RMR better (Safariland 6354DO specifically) but minor modifications to the holster can fix that.

Nice info. I put mine in front just for protection. Battle werx charged $10 more dollars for that but I understand why because it’s a extra step in the milling process.

First time viewing your channel, and I will say I liked what I saw. It was a short video, but it was to the point, and well done. I am the same way, as I don't really look for my rear sight, so being rearward of the RMR is my choice also. I believe I will check out more of your channel. Thanks.

Ok, so here is a hot potato question which I hold you harmless for your answer. Would you run without any irons with an RMR on an EDC weapon? I found that having suppressor height iron rear of the optic ( Holosun 507cx2) and matching front post gave me bug-eyes when working with my optic. I removed irons and all the distractions are gone. Target -Dot -Press the shot- Done. Now as red dots have grown in usage and quality has increased across the board. Would it be foolish to trust only the RMR and ditch the irons? There are a lot of pros and cons. Many people run duty rifles with RDS only. I tried working with the different setups for MBUS on pistols and found it's really one or the other. My brain can't seem to ignore the irons, I took them off, and shot placement, groups, etc improved and continues to improve. And I know that if the optic were to quit, I would be up the creek. Thank you for your time.

You are seeing the irons because you are not target focus. By eliminating the irons you remove the symptom not the cause. To your carbine All the professionals I know run two sighting systems on their carbines. Dot + irons or dot + laser or LPVO + rds etc.

If you are still checking comments on a two year old video, I thought I heard you this in another video but do you recommend blacked out rear sights and tritium front? Or blacked out front and rear?
@ModernSamuraiProject
@ModernSamuraiProject 4 года назад
Chewbacca I like blacked out but I don’t really care.

Modern Samurai Project thanks for the reply. Thanks cool and fitting of your style brother. I know the vp9 2020 is weird in what taller sights work so I will likely go with blacked out rear with orange tritium front. Should work just fine. Appreciate your work my Jedi

Scott, out of curiosity - Why did you decide to switch from a comped G19 to a G34 for concealed carry? If grip length was part of the decision, would you ever consider a comped G19X? Or do you feel the uncompensated 5" barrel is superior to the 4" barrel w/ comp?
@ModernSamuraiProject
@ModernSamuraiProject 6 лет назад
Whitaker Behrens A Roland would be in Open division in competition. I would be mechanically outmatched. That being said, I am thinking of trying to make Master from concealment in Open...maybe with a comped 19x.....
@rudukai13
@rudukai13 6 лет назад
Modern Samurai Project Ah so it was a competition consideration more than anything else. If you were choosing a gun strictly for carry or for carry and to use in a competition where modifications didn't make a difference for which division you shot in, would you still choose the comped 19-sized pistol over a non-compensated longslide pistol?
@ModernSamuraiProject

What are your thoughts on sacrificing the rear sight to mount a red dot? I have a shield, i want an RMRcc for it, the only way to have it mounted is to replace the rear sight with a plate for the red dot. Is it feasable to just sacrifice the rear sight and use the rmr as a large ghost ring if it goes dead?
@ModernSamuraiProject
@ModernSamuraiProject 2 года назад
It’s feasible. Personally I would get a bigger gun so I would have to give it up.

I seem to be the only one who found Aaron's video to be pretty vague and unconvincing. I fail to see how you would be more distracted by a blank rear sight immediately in front of a transparent piece of glass vs. immediately behind the piece of glass. The glass is not a focal plane since you look through it, not AT it. The focal plane of the dot itself is the same as the target. The location of the glass makes no difference to how you focus on anything. The main advantage that I can see (which is never mentioned) is that your dot can be seen over your rear iron (instead of disappearing behind) if the iron is forward of the glass. This seems like a valid if not trivial advantage.
