I think you have some great pointers. I prefer to take my pictures with natural lighting. Still being able to mix different back grounds in when I don’t have time to get good light.

I’ve found a simple white bedsheet works really well (as long as your cake isn’t white lol 😂 Also, some home decorating stores will let you take a decent sized sample of wallpaper 😀

My problem at the current moment is that my hubby bought me a super nice professional Fuji DSLR and I have ZERO clue how to use it and I've SCOURED the internet trying to find help to no avail. So.....here I am with a camera that I KNOW takes beautiful photos, but I have messed with all the settings until now I have nothing but bright white pics. Lol. Idk what to do, but your tips here will help me make my phone photos be much better.

I struggle with inspiration for the back drops, I try to keep everything out of the picture that's on the counter but then you have my boring brown tiles staring back at you, so thanks for these tips! Also lighting is an issue, I'm trying to figure out the best ways to light it without crazy shadows or washing the cake out.

The yellow backdrop that you used is that paper or foam board and how did you get it to stay up.

with all due respect. you spoke so much of correct props setting the mood, telling the story. and right after that there is a cake on a box...in the forest...no forks...the story called "the cake was so bad we dumped it in the forest 20 miles away from nearest human being"?
