Looks amazing, creates an even lighting compared to just using LEDs yourself especially on the dpad

LED mods I've done before I've generally used cut-outs on the buttons, which isn't possible with Boxypixel shells, this looks perfect for a boxypixel LED mod - when my wallet recovers from the shell itself.

Broskies, any tips on spray painting the shells ? I love the color. I've been trying but I'm not to sure on the dry time before I flip it and paint the other side. Any advice would be appreciated 🙌

Hey I just got a new Gameboy color and the switch is really hard to turn on and off 🤷‍♂️ it’s all custom with a Q5 screen and gold buttons and the power switch is also gold and a clear blue shell it looks awesome

Great video! I just finished installing this, however, when I turn my gameboy color on, it shows power for 1-2 seconds then shuts off. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Did you add some kind of tape to the old power led contacts? There could be some kind of short there if you didn't.

Are they bright enough to shine through non-clear buttons? I have some custom printed gold buttons, they are plastic, but they aren't transparent. Also, does this mod significantly reduce battery life?

You may be able to see the lights outline the buttons but I doubt they would shine through the buttons themselves. This mod will affect battery life but im not sure how much. I dont think it would be enough to be concerned about though.

The power light on that mod does it also start to dim when the battery is low like the stock one? I ordered the mod but I’m worried for games like Pokémon that I won’t save it and the battery will just die on me

I don't believe it fades. If it does than all the button lights will fade with it. I have not tested this yet tho.

Any way to switch the button backlight off? I like the idea of being able to control it, dont always want it on all the time

It definitely does drain the batteries much quicker

Well doing it the old way may be cheaper if you already have the proper tools. Plus it's a great skill to have!

Im very new to this kind of stuff so please stop me if this question is stupid. Is that yellow piece you soldered in have the lights within it already or did you install the LEDs after you put it in and just did that off camera and the yellow piece just makes connecting them all much easier?

That yellow piece I put in already has all the LEDs soldered into when when you buy it. It's and all-in-one thing so you can just take it out of the pack and solder it to the board and you're done.

I mostly get them from ebay. I try to get them from my local game store too if they have them in stock.
