@@CatSchool Hi again! I was just wondering, do you think the acrylic sided backpack (same backpack you use in video just with acrylic sides) are just as good? I heard that the cat has more stability around the top when leaning on the top edge . . . because he may want to lookout while I'm walking.
My cat has no problem entering or leaving the backpack, but she is freaking out when closing the backpack or hearing any sounds out of the corridor because we live in an apartment and our door is right next to the elevator. I will practice confidence with the backpack open and taking her to familiar places around the place and in the balcony. Thank you for this in dept video, you are amazing.
I just adopted a cat a few days ago and I'm in the process of training him to go for walks and just ordered him a cat backpack. Thank you for this video 😁
Thank you for all your work. I used some of your tutorials to train my Furkot, and they all worked great. Most of all I love that you teach all this additional information, like what can motivate a cat, how to make it comfortable and interesting to them - thanks to that I was able to come up with some tricks of my own :). From this video I got information that is new to me - I can motivate my cat with his toys! I just made an experiment and my Furkot did all the tricks he knows while having fun with his willow withe! I have I feeling, that I finally find a way to get his attention during our walks. Thanks!
My cat is almost 6 months old! He already knows high ten, first bump, sit pretty, nose boops, he's half way got lay down and just started to teach him sit!!! Watching some of your vids for new trick ideas! Figure 8 through legs, roll over, the jump through arm loop are being added go my list, and a stay command would prob be helpful!
@Kate my cat it definitely bribed by treats he loves them! I got him when he was 8 weeks old so it was easy to teach him tricks!! I started by just refining what he naturally wanted to do then moved onto more complex things now he is a pro and does more tricks then my aunts dogs!!
I have the same backpacks as you shown in the video for my two kitties!! (they each have their own) I really love how the backpack has the back extension for more space and entries. We sometimes just place it in the house with the back extended for them to play as tunnels😂 Good to know that you recommend this too!! Thank you!!
Fortunately I didn't need to train my cat to jump into the backpack. She started doing it on her own since the third time I took her for a walk, but she was three months old. The thing I never tried doing is keeping the top of the backpack open like you do because my harness didn't feel too safe, maybe when I receive my Kitty Holster I'll try. What do you use to extend the leash? How long should it be?
Hi! I think I read on instagram that you were trying to make Jones jump into the backpack while it is on your back. (If I´m not mistaken). Could pleaaaase make a video about the process?🙂 Also, we have the same backpack... do you have any advice on how to teach our cat to sit on top of it/ our shoulder? He seems to have difficulties hanging on while walking. Thank you so much! And keep up the good work 😁👍
Thank you for these amazing videos. I just adopted a 1yr old abandoned kitty off the street. I decided I want to train him because he seems to be a very smart cat. I was wondering, would I need to have two different carriers for him for going to the vet and going out on walks/hikes? Just wondering if he will be less inclined to get in a backpack if he associates it with the vet.
Love, love love your video. I start training my cat and i'm feeling in a circus 🤣🤣🤣🤣. My difficult Is the toss part because he Is a persian and for him Is difficult eating from the ground so i feed him in his mouth. Ciao from Italy.
I’m gonna act like I don’t want my cat near it because she loves exploring what I try to keep her away from 😂😂😂 ( kk thank you for the tips I’ll be using them :) )
My cat hates me fussing with the backpack but is fine with jumping into the bag in the small position. I’m most likely only going to use it to transport him around to the vet and such, but do you think it’s worth to train him to be fine with me making the bag smaller?
Love your videos! Do you think there is a limit on how many tricks a cat can learn? Using your videos, my cat Baloo has learned 5-6 tricks, but I have a hard time teaching him new ones. It lookes like Jones know a lot more tricks.
What if my cat is blind and isn't able to see small items like the target stick to persuade her to go in and out of the backpack? Suggestions? Aside from just placing treats in the bag?
My cat will jump out of the top flap of the carrier, but she won't jump into the carrier through the top flap/opening. How do I encourage to jump into the backpack through the top?
I just started training my cat about 4 months ago and have successfully gotten her to sit and to jump over my leg (which we practice every day) but I noticed lately that she's been trying to bite my finger instead of putting her nose to it or following it. I tried to go back to stage one of training and just trying to get her to follow my finger with no other added instructions, but she'll still try to bite it. I also tried using a chopstick instead of my finger since I don't have a target stick and she'll try biting it after 5 or 6 times of putting her nose to it. I'm not sure if there are ways to get her to stop doing this? any advice is super helpful!
@@dependsontheweather There will be a moment between your cat approaching the stick and biting it. Click at that moment. If you need more help, please consider joining our online class and posting a video of your training.
I have the same backpack except that it has the window feature. My cat is comfortable in it at home, and she loves the extended feature, but if she sees someone while in the backpack she is more scared than she is in my screened in porch.
i have the window bag as well, and felt it left my cat too exposed to feel safe - i used velcro and fabric to cover the window, so that he can crouch and hide if he needs to. he's still not super confident outside but that's because i haven't spent a lot of work training him
Totally thought the same thing about the window feature! Was at a lost as to how to make her feel comfortable. Thanks for sharing about the velcro! I will look into that.
When training cats, we want to focus on what we want them to do instead of what we don't want them to do. Improve the environment where you want your cat to be and make sure to reward your cat with attention and treats for going in the right place.
