I started this hike at the south end hiking in around 9.5 miles and set camp. Bring plenty of water because it’s not available on this route! I really enjoy going out solo from time to time. The more I do it, the more I like it! And West Virginia does not disappoint!

Nice video... the drone shots really take it to the next level! Ticks are terrible. Hope none of them hitchhiked home with you!

Thanks! Yeah they were bad in all the tall grass areas. I even used permethrin on my gear a few days prior. They didn’t care.

I just did that same hike last weekend. Well, I attempted it. 10 miles in my IT band revolted. Knowing I was going lame my 3 day 2 night trip became a short 1 night trip. I made to the overlook north of the road gate where I contemplated while reading lunch with a view. Doubled back to the 2nd overlook and set up camp. Great sunset. Had a bear near the camp which was great. Subscribed. Where did you get the pizza?

Thanks! I got the pizza at the country store at the seneca rocks intersection. Full disclosure it was one of the worst pizzas I’ve eaten. 🤷‍♂️

@@BackcountryTreks looked like a grade 2 pizza, just above a $1 Totino's frozen "pizza". That intersection is probably out of my way, I come from Goochland, through Franklin. A post hike pizza is great, I need find one for my next attempt.

There sandwiches and subs are better. 👍

These are some amazing drone shots. I really enjoyed the solo, quiet video of your trip. Never heard of this trail in WV, but would love to check it out sometime.

Thank you for the kind words. It’s a great hike! If you have Two vehicles or arrange a shuttle you can hike from one end to the other. It’s about a 25 mile traverse in total.

Wonderful video! Are you using any tick repellant or just routinely flicking them off? LOL. I'm originally from WV and spent an awful lot of time in the Seneca Rocks, Dolly Sods, Spruce Knob area as a late teen and young adult doing day hikes. I've recently decided I want to try some short, overnight backpacking trips and hope to do some in that area. I actually hiked North Fork to the rocks in 1979, my last year of high school. A couple lifetimes ago!

I typically treat my gear with permethrin but I don’t think I did prior to this trip. It was really bad through the tall grass! Lol Beautiful area to spend time in for sure! Thanks for watching 🍻🍻

@@BackcountryTreks you've got to be careful out there! I just did a kayak camping trip in SW Virginia and found a tiny tick on my scalp 3 days later. Sent it off to VA Dept of Health and just got confirmation it was a Lone Star tick. So now I'm waiting to see if I develop alpha-gal, or one of the many viruses that Lone Star ticks carry. :(
