Well here it is 6th of March 2019 I watched your video during my lunch break at work. After work I went to the local Walmart found the Nido in the Latino Isle i purchased a small container of it purchased a box of Grape-Nuts I also purchased the cane sugar they had all three. I went home assembled it as you instructed. I was very pleased and amazed thank you for sharing your passion with others. I enjoyed it. And I will be using it and packing it future hiking outings. Great ideas and just what I was looking for. Here are a couple of additional backpacking ideas. Granola with powdered tang, very tasty cold or hot on a winter morn. Also Steel ground outmeal with chia seeds, raisins, brown sugar, butter buds or whatever. Prepackage at home and add water to it the night before, for a short cooking time in morning. Instant oatmeal is just a filler and should be avoided which is what it sounds like you do. Getting ready to try Nido for the first time. Thanks
@KurtPapke

I've heard of the Tang on cereal thing, but haven't had the courage to try it yet. I east the steel cut oats at home, but too much cook time on the trail. I'll have to try the cold soak some time. You'll like Nido, it's great stuff. Store in the freezer to prevent rancidity.

I do the same with instant oatmeal, nido, and fruit but I pack it in the bags like Mountain House comes in. You can buy empty bags on Amazon in different sizes. That way I just dump the boiling water in the bag with all the ingredients and keep my pot clean. The bags are tough too so I don't worry about flimsy ziplocs in my pack.

@@KurtPapke I found a way hot cakes are little to no more trouble than doing any other meal. Just requires a bit of prep time ahead. Sorry I can't recall brand name but there is a pancake mix that come in a plastic bottle that you just add water and shake to make the batter. Just take that and pour it into individual servings in small ziplocks. A serving is usually 2 or 3 hotcakes just open your zip lock pour in appropriate amount of water mix and pour and cook the hot cakes. No mess and as quick as boiling water. They are delicious and gives you a healthy meal and you can add dry fruit or what ever you want to add extra flavor in the batter or while cooking chocolate chips are yummy that way.
