I've been watching you since near the beginning of your blogging history. Your quality of video has gotten superb. These videos are quiet, respectful of the outside world, and yet so real and "approachable". It's not about trying to rack up x number of miles in a day, or seeing how far/hard you can push your body, it's about enjoying the process of being outside - quite literally noticing the small things most people just stomp past to get to the next peak. So thank you!

Why is it that my daughter and I can watch you build a fire or stir trail food, and it draws us in like a gripping moment in a movie drama? This certainly is one of your finest offerings, dear Dixie! And how kind you are to share baby names with us! I was apprehensive during my first pregnancy, but savored every moment with my second, in awe of the marvelous changes in my body, such as the dramatically increased efficiency in getting nutrients from my food. Enjoy those wonderful changes, Dixie. There is an old wives' tale that if you climb over your husband and get out of bed on his side, then go around and get back in on your side, he will have your morning sickness, lol. My dad was never superstitious, but he laughingly crossed my mom off every time she tried that. 😁. Blessings. 💗💙

I backpacked in the first trimester with each of my 3 pregnancies - Isle Royale at 9 weeks, Yellowstone at 11 weeks, and Pictured Rocks at 6 weeks. Congratulations on your impending arrival and on a great video.

It is an amazing event. I saw a total eclipse in Germany in 1997 or 1998. Of course, totality is incredibly impressive, but just as surreal is seeing the moon’s shadow rushing across the landscape just before totality. I just happened to look to my right and there it was screaming across the land. I can still see it in my mind’s eye.

Was in central MO for 2017, just on the side of the highway after speeding down I 70 trying to get out from under the clouds. Even though we were right next to the highway across the street from a McDonalds, it was such a mind blowing event. I remember sitting on the back bumper of my car with my partner inexplicably crying. Then went home to plan for 2024 immediately. We went to Austin for this one but because of the cloud cover headed up north for better chances and landed in Waco. I don't know how it happened but at around 85% of totality, the heavy cloud cover just VANISHED. Clear skies all during totality. I don't know what it is about a total eclipse but they really just change your mindset in the coolest way. I've been loving watching everyone's journeys and reactions to this one!! It's like reliving it just a little again. Loved all your time lapses and it's so great to see you out on trail again!! Tentatively planning to be in Iceland for 2026
@idahogie

We were up closer to Dallas ... and that clearing that graced your totality hit us just after. The whole "waning" part was clear blue sky. It was still an amazing eclipse ... we had lots of little windows that gave us views of the whole thing. Then right after I headed down to Big Bend National Park for 4 days of backpacking. That was awesome, too ... and a place I'll not likely ever get back to.

during the 2017 Eclipse, i'm convinced my family and 3 of my best friends had the absolute prime location to see it all from start to finish. i found out about the eclipse in 2011 and had 6 years to plan. it worked in every way imaginable. we were between Gregory's Bald and Joyce Kilmer on the Little Tennessee River. just us in a place that imo is even prettier and def far wilder than Cades Cove. (no need to ask me where, i'll never tell). The bears were out along with the otters, eagles, and deer. we were in max totality of i think 3:36 mins. that spot was one of the smartest plans i've ever had as a human being. i'm not kidding. no crowd so, we heard everything along with seeing it all. the cicadas and the swallows went nuts during totality. i was so stunned at the way the light got swallowed up by the moon that i almost forgot to take pictures after all that planning. i'm an East Tennessean from Townsend. i've seen some pretty incredible things in nature. i'm also a wildlife and landscape photographer and have been since long, long, long before it was "cool." i'm almost 60 years old and that day was the greatest natural event i have ever, or will ever see in my lifetime.

I was in MT and there was supposed to be 35% coverage- but at Glacier NP- there was too much cloud cover- so no sighting. Thank you- this was spectacular!!

Holy crapamoly! Thanks for this video Dixie. We only had 88% eclipse where I live in Northwest Missouri so it was great to experience the eclipse with you and Aaron vicariously! Thank you. 😊
