This is a 5 day Backpacking trip in the Wind River Range in Wyoming from September, 2022.
We hiked nearly 45 miles and over 10k elevation gain over the 5 days of majestic backcountry magic.
Day 1 I drove from Denver to Pinedale, Wyoming where I met up with Dom and his wife Meagan and we shuttled a car at the Newfork trailhead where we would end our hike 5 days later.
We drove to the Elkhart Park Trailhead and started our hiking ending at Seneca Lake for night #1.
Day 2 we woke up and it was Dom's Birthday. We headed a few miles to Island Lake where we set up camp and day hiked to Titcomb Basin. The views in the basin were amazing and well worth the side trip.
Day 3 we set out from Island Lake and away from the crowds for the nest couple of days. We passed the Fremont Crossing Footbridge and headed up in elevation towards Jean Lakes. We hit the trail junction with Shannon Pass and Elbow Lake and headed left. The terrain was rolling and beautiful up here. We ended up at Pass Lake for our third night.
Day 4 we headed out from Pass Lake toward Summit Lake and eventually New Fork Park for our last night camping in the Winds. This was another big day with lots of exposure and a few more lake swims. We ended up camping below tree line and having a wonderful fire to enjoy our last night.
Day 5 we woke up to a smoky morning and 8 miles to hike out. We celebrated the hike with a couple beers and some food at Wind River Range Brewing.
This trip was an amazing experience. The itinerary worked out perfect with no days longer than 11 miles. We had great weather, food, libations, and great camp comradery.

Thanks Dany. Changing my channel name from "HikeWithMike' to 'TheWayOutdoors" did take away many of my viewers and content. Its been slow to rebuild the channel. Thanks for watching the video, as it is one of my favorites. What's a Birthday without a lot of beer? :D Cheers!

@@TheWayOutdoors Well, a Birthday without a lot of beer is nothing. I hope you keep on posting videos like this. I`ve never done any hiking, backpacking or canyoneering and I´ve never been to the US. But I love virtual hiking through all the stunning landscapes in the US, especially in Utah, Arizona and the Sierras Joey Coconato leaded me to your channel some time ago. Warm regards 😀😀

You got that right! It was fun starting the trip with Island Lake and Titcomb Basin, and venturing out away from people for the finale of the trip. Thanks for watching

Hobbs Lake is a better camping spot. I personally did not even see a place to camp on Seneca Lake. But it did get you closer to Island Lake. People camp on Little Seneca without any privacy. Island Lake has spots that once you are familiar with the area, you can get privacy. You did good with the spot you found. Upper Jean, Elbow Lake to Summit was way more cool than I expected. I started from Green River Lakes and have only seen New Fork on RU-vid. Looks pretty cool.

Thanks for checking out the video CDAFishboy! I imagine the backside of Hobbs has some ideal camping. I've watched a few of my favorite RU-vid channels where they camp in that area. Once we left Island Lake the crowds thinned out and everything beyond Shannon Pass felt more remote. My initial itinerary had us starting at Green River Lakes and ending at Elkhart. That would require a much longer shuttle. It was a great trip and the only thing I missed out on was Knapsack Col. I do plan to be back. Maybe the WRHR might be a future plan? Safe Trails!

@@TheWayOutdoors We camped on the south side of Hobbs Lake. There is a hump between the trail and two isolated camp spots that are hidden from the trail. The Winds are addicting. I crossed the Continental divide twice on a trip last year and missed a side trip to a lake I wished I had seen pics of it earlier. And now I have to go back as you do.
