This video answers the questions of if there is gold to be found in the Minneapolis St Paul area in Minnesota. Answer, there is. the gold here is flour gold left behind by the glaciers.
@@GlacialGoldHunter he means genuine i think, that's just some hip new shit people say to sound cool, no way hes able to quantify what he means himself.
@@DonOblivious gosh you’re good. 😆 that’s kind of scary. I’m impressed. But I was in the apartments next to it. The woodland apartments. Close enough though.
I loved your video and the information on the laws! Some of those details I never would have thought about! Glad your channel got recommended to me! Definitely subscribed.
Looks like you enjoy it, good job on the video, liked the funny.movie clips and humor, I am from southern MN never thought there would be pannable gold in MN. Interesting to see you found some, good job !
Can’t wait for more videos!!! I already learned quite a bit. My coworker was telling me about gold panning a while ago .. so I’m happy your video showed up in my feed. It got me excited to try it out sometime!!!! :) :)
I enjoyed your personality. Im from central Minnesota and people think im ceazy for gold digging in this state. Yoou are upbest, practical and have a refreshing srnse if humor.
Nice job of finding that flour gold. Maybe 2 bucks worth of gold but.....$10,000 worth of fun. And...that's what it's all about...having fun. Love your channel.
@@GlacialGoldHunter If you like hunting for gold, you would probably like Hunting for Yooperlites. I just took a trip with my kids and they had a blast. Check it out!
I'm in Indiana but have 2 sisters in Minneapolis and 3 years ago did sum panning there and didn't find up there, grew up in Duluth and moved down here in 1977 and graduated my seen your year
Another GREAT place is go find a gravel pit and ask for permission. They have done the hard work for you by digging deep. I have found really good gold in our area up here.
Best tool you had was two cans of OFF. As far as the rules go they are a bunch of buggers themselves. The lawmakers should be out there all winter melting ice to prevent it from disturbing the soil.
There's another hotspot in Minnesota on the Mississippi River. It's called Noren landing. I find gold there all the time. But the river's been pretty high lately
Yeah I was going to do a video on Mississippi River panning but the water has been so high I haven’t been able to. Last year was a drought and this year it’s a flood. Crazy.
@@GlacialGoldHunter down by Lake City, past Red Wing - it's a neat place, and Snake is right - deep in the mud at the bottom of that lake has to be a true fortune in flour gold.
If glaciers deposited gold into Minnesota's geologic nooks and crannies back in the day, then (thinking on a grand scale) might there be big chunks dropped up in the boundary waters and lakes regions? Like underwater? Would it make sense to dive for gold? Could the natural and limestone cave formations found in some places act as giant sluices? Thank you for your channel, interesting.
There is gold there but it’s not big gold so it’s probably not worth diving for. Not all gold deposits form big nuggets but there were and are producing gold mines in Ontario. At one time there was a gold rush around lake vermillion and rainy lake. It never produced much though.
Have you ever read the history of gold prospecting on the cannon river? There was a gold rush back in the 1800's and there is still a decent amount to find.
Grand Rapids Minnesota here. I have a pen set and a grader just like yours. I don't own a sluice box but I've been trying to get to the bottom of this crap myself
It’s hard because growing up in Saint Paul along the West Side in onto lily dale and pickerel I just seen too much fools gold so I questioned if we had real gold so thank you for the insight
Am I dumb or are your mats backwards? I would think you would want the spines of the divots to be receiving the flow of the water so that it rolls over them and creates vortices inside each divot, instead of running through the opening of the divots, then hitting the spine and just swirling horizontally
That wrapper said copyrighted 2018. So that doesn't mean it's been there since then but still, fun watch! I might go out and about some time to track down spots. Looks peaceful.
I want everyone who watches this to know, you cannot go to any stream in Minnesota to pan. You also CANNOT pan material that isn't under water. Taking from the bank like this is not allowed, per my emails with DNR: "Removing material from stream or river banks for gold panning is not allowed, due to erosion concerns and the disturbance to the natural river processes that shape the stream path, streambank size, and connection to flood plain. And when streams and rivers have bedrock or large boulders along their banks, the nooks and crannies that might trap gold and other heavy minerals are also a unique microhabitat to many important critters in the stream ecosystem." You also cannot pan any river. It must be Minnesota State land that isn't a state park. You *can* pan other rivers with permission from the land owner, but this doesn't seem like a legal location if I'm being honest. Also I can confirm that even a SMALL box is illegal. If you gold pan on private land, you CAN use a box, but only if none of the water reaches any source of river, and isnt a commercial operation. You cannot sell any gold you collect in Minnesota. I do applaud the effort of filling your holes, that is a good thing to do.
@@GlacialGoldHunter I understand your reasoning, but if it isn't currently under water you cannot do it. I was disappointed when I talked to DNR about it
I only left this comment to say "Minneapolis SUCKS". But great video! Good job, no one was injured and you made it out with your shoes! Next time, just stand next to a pawn shop for 20 minutes and youll have someone offer you some gold teeth
@@GlacialGoldHunter Thank you, I'm glad you got a laugh! But seriously, I genuinely enjoy your video's. Its nice to see genuine content creators coming up with something unique.
I know this isn't a money making venture for you, You're doing it for fun and adventure. But non the less, I'm wondering how much that days intake might have weighed. How much is it worth by that days gold value?
The wire isn't coated with plastic it's vinal. They started using that late 40s mainstream by 1950. Did they use plastic every house in the county would be burned down.
Sweet crick tho right in the metro area that's cool could here traffic on ur video. There's probably a hundred of them down there I just never pay attention when I'm there.
I live in Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Great video. I have some partially processed gold from electronics. I hit a wall processing them, You might make quick work of it. I would be glad to give you some if you want. If you send an email I can figure how to get it to you. My address is in my channel description.
They word the laws/rules in mn like they’re writing clues for the mn winter carnival medallion hunt, and when you email them to get a straight answer you get another riddle as an answer
If you can get down to the bed rock that's where the most gold will be found and you should not just toss your largest stuff mn. Has lots of different gem stones including diamonds so look a bit closer my friend
MN resident here. Haven't seen any gold but there are a lot of places where you can find used needles laying all over; maybe you can collect those? They'd be worth something except that the Lutheran churches will give free needles and crack pipes to addicts - you know - just like the Bible teaches. While you are here, don't forget to visit George Floyd Square.
@GlacialGoldHunter Your video was so very accurate as to central MN, I have cheated by digging low pressure areas in front of concrete slabs dumped on the bed of the Mississippi, there the specks are about 3 to 5 times better than what you caught, yet only worth the fun of finding anything, lol. The Pike River up by Embarrass-Biwabick or more south with the Zumbro river and you will find more.
Great video, but I have to ask , are you also a lawyer? Have you considered getting professional opinions on the laws? You might be just telling populist jokes, but in the end, have you really explored the full scope/impact of the ‘panning’ laws?
