This was a solo backpacking trip in mid August 2022, it was roughly 20 miles out-and-back and a fairly challenging hike with an elevation gain of 3000'. The journey began with a shuttle boat across Redfish Lake, from there, it was roughly 10 miles to Baron Lakes. The lakes have an amazing fluorescent neon turquoise blue color and there are incredible views of the jagged Sawtooth Mountains along the hike. There are plenty of water sources and plenty of shade along the way.
We are Beata and Clint. We are a husband and wife that have embarked on a mission to capture the beauty of this little planet and to share it with you, in hopes of inspiring you to get out in nature, as we were inspired by others.
We enjoy day hiking, night hiking, backpacking, mountain biking; day or night riding, rock hounding, skiing, snowshoeing, exploring, and photography.

This was August 9th. It was quite amazing when the sun came out and made the water almost seem to glow.

We are happy you enjoyed the video. Stanley, Idaho, is such a unique area, especially Baron Lakes, because of the turquoise water and surrounding jagged mountains. It’s one of our favorite places to hike. 😊

This area looks a lot like Oregon's Wallowa Mtns. Maybe it's the same geologically (but not necessarily - Vermont's Green Mtns look like NY's Adirondacks at first glance but geologically they are VERY different).

Thanks for the comment! i’m curious what your thoughts would be on the Lemhi range. In our shadow Lakes video, you can see that the mountains are formed by stratified layers of rock twisted up on their sides. It’s an interesting area geologically.

I am sure glad I stumbled upon your channel. I wish I was 30 years younger and had access to the modern backpacking equipment available these days. I love the videos and if you would take a request I would suggest Airplane Lake or Arrowhead Lake in the Wildhorse drainage of the Big Lost. I can no longer hike and sure wish I could see them, maybe you two will give me the opportunity.

Hi Troyrider, thanks for the comment! Yes, backpacking gear has gotten so much better and lighter, thankfully. Great suggestions! We already tried to get to Arrowhead lake last year but we were thwarted by massive amounts of snow. Still planning on getting up there soon and making a video. I’ve never heard of Airplane lake, but we will check it out for sure. So much awesome stuff to see in Copper Basin!

Airplane lake is also known as Wildhorse lake.

50lb pack is crazy. You could easily cut that weight in half and have a much more enjoyable trip

For sure! This year my goal is 36lbs pack weight and also I’ll be 20 lbs lighter! Going to have to get a lighter sleeping pad at a minimum, so that’s going to hurt my wallet.

What was the mileage and elevation gain?

If you use the Redfish lake shuttle to take you across Redfish lake, it is just under 10 miles with 2800 feet vertical to Barron lake.

It is so beautiful out there! I did the wilderness loop starting at grandjean last summer. Prettiest and most epic hike I've been on. Great video.

WHAT ABOUT PREDATORS ? ANY GRIZZLYS BROWN BEARS OR BLACK BEARS MOUNTAIN LIONS OR WOLVES ?

@beataclintadventures304 Год назад
No, it’s not a National Park, but it is a Wilderness. Hunting is not allowed, but we’ve seen people fishing and riding a horses. Of course there are wild animals like bears and mountain lions so you do have to keep an eye open and hang your food in a tree using a bear bag. We hope you get a chance to explore this amazing area sometime in the future!

Where did you get your watch? It has all the information on it that I want when I go hiking.

Hi Joanne! My watch is a Fenix 6x Sapphire. Once the 7x came out, I was able to get the 6x for a lower price. It is so awesome! The battery lasts forever and it has full topo maps loaded on it. You can configure each screen with up to 7 data read outs. I’m really happy with it.

A bit of constructive criticism...make the music lower in volume, so it's background music, not on the same level as the narrative...seems to be the same case in other videos too...other than that, good job.

Thanks for the advice! The sound portion of editing is the hardest part to get right.
