Alive outdoors so glad you're able to continue your lifestyle. I have a different situation no rods or pins but very low back pain due to spondylolisthesis. some strategy and seems to help for me I wonder if you do any specific exercises pre during and after your hikes

You’re an inspiration. I’ve always wanted to be outdoors and experience beauty. When I started I only found pain amidst the beauty and I’m trying to see the doctor and find a less straining job. I’m a nurse at a busy floor. It’s killing my back. I want to be a hiker but every strenuous hike gives me lower back pain. It’s daunting. This video gives me hope tremendously. Thank you

Thanks so much for sharing. I have chronic back pain too and it is challenging to go backpacking, which I love to do. It usually takes me several days to recover from the soreness and sometimes it makes me like an angry dog wanting to bite everyone because of the pain, like you described. I love what you said about taking care of yourself, especially mentally. I think it is most important along with having the right gear and knowing how to use them properly. Thanks again. :)

Thank you so much for this video. I am recently dealing with a bad back, and just had this awful feeling that my backpacking days are over. Going to keep at it.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I'm 3 years into my injury and have only recently come to terms with the fact that I've got it for life. I used to be so into extreme sports (skateboarding, surfing, rock climbing etc...) and have had to accept that I'll never do these things again. That in itself is a huge mental battle! Looking to the future, I know I need to do things that still excite me but are far less intense on my back. Hiking seems like a good hobby and fits in well with my job retraining (going from property maintenance into photography). I'm so glad I've found your channel as it's given me a bit of motivation, something that is hard to come by these days... I'm looking forward to watching more of your stuff and planning my first mountain ascent in over 10 years! Many thanks and keep up the good work ✌

I damaged multiple layers in my lumbar multiple surgeries and I now have a stimulator in my epidural space I still get nerve pain in my right leg. I have only started walking clean skin in the last eight months I’m not saying this to complain but rather let you know this is incredible encouraging to me thank you

Great video! I’m 41 and have similar issues. One of the challenging things I find is people who don’t have back pain don’t believe me that I’m always in pain. I’m finding peace with all this as I’m working around my pain as you mentioned. Light walking long distances helps me the most with long term care. Anyone having any advice for the knee pain I’m now experiencing due to my back pain. My chiro tells me it’s referral pain. Thanks again!

I have some degeneration in my lower spine. I went to a chiropractor who did an X-ray and found the degeneration. Seems to be caused buy being on my feet at work and being on my feet for 8+hours a day 5 days a week. Anyways this is a good video. Very informative. Thanks for the info.

Great info! Don't forget the straps just behind the shoulders. They cinch the top of the pack closer to your body as well. Think of a pack fitting like a glove to your back. The closer the glove, the better the hike. I think also with heavy items, closer to the back, but not on the bottom as it can also cause drag! Excellent video! Great Inspiration!

23 going into my 2nd major spinal surgery. I appreciate your knowledge. Love nature. I’m a Gardner myself and love to camp. I have a son I want to show how to camp the right way I did when I was a kid. I’m so nervous for this next surgery. Those first couple weeks are so so hard.

30lbs is still allot, i also have 2 bulging discs and one small herniatiin but i would not dare to pack more than 12lbs/ 6kg on my back, and that's with an expensive ultralight backpack and for a short hike

I also suffer with chronic low back pain and have for the last 16 years and can also hike without my back hurting me which is really crazy because you think it would be the worst thing for you but it hurts much more to sit in the recliner all day and pop pain pills like I used to

I am so lucky to find your video! Great information and exactly what I was looking for. I used to hike before I took an injury in my spin and both my knees. Usually, I go fine with day hikes and after seeing this video, I am going to try to hike for multiple days again. I have a tons of questions for you. :D How do you deal with numbness in the legs or the feet if it happens to you? To me, it might happen after the hike and it will go away after a few days. What worries me is that if it happens during a multiple day hike! Is there any sort of training that you do in your every day routine to help with the hike? Great video, I hope you'll keep posting your experiances

Came across this video. Very good tips. But what do I use if I do not do hammock camping? I see you have two mats with your backpack does that help? I tried both earth and air mats and I wake up constantly with back spasms. Will appreciate what ever advice you can send my way. Thank you.

@@aliveoutside248 it's not the same thing. And you know it. Stop with your excuses. You should have said find a branch not break one. Think about it for future reference. Just be a more compassionate human being towards all life. Do you eat chicken? How about feeding some pigeons on your next walk. Pass the blessing, don't spread the destruction. Still time to be decent creature who cares about nature while you are still alive here. Nature is your creator. Not some one book out of three which wicked men wrote to fool the sleeping masses. There is no God there, believe.
