I camped at Douglas dam tail water campground last spring and did the same drive and checked out Cherokee dam campground. I did go to the dam store....LOL. In the winter when the water is down low, rock hounder's look for what is called "Douglas diamonds" which are naturally faceted quarts. Parrotsville on the Del Rio side, has a lot of beautiful country and old barns. We use to live in Oneida/Helenwood, TN.....where the Big South Fork National River and Recreation area. Hey, Give Cheezy Steaks in Sevierville a try. They are on Winfield Dunn Parkway and I think it was 1758.......They are really good! Only open Wed - Sat. Loved seeing the area again. I really miss TN and hope to be back for another adventure this coming spring. Be Blessed!

Really enjoyed your video. My wife and I have been trying to explore back roads when we come to the Smokies now, in town is getting way to crowded. We went to Metcalf Bottoms one day and grilled out instead of going into town and eating, had a great time. Thanks and have a great day.

I think the water that helps people is because of the high mineral content. Boy do I ever remember the Kmart subs, that was a highlight for us as we were growing up.

We only get a few days there during our vacation and we try to take at least one day to get out and explore beyond the touristy things and shopping! My husband's family goes way back in New Market. His grandparents used to own the home next door to Houston's Mineral Water and his grandfather was the first mayor of New Market. We drive memory lane when we're near New Market.

Hey guys, Just saw the other day the Hoagie shop has moved into a food truck style trailer. A friend of mine told me they had it on a facebook post.. I knew they had closed the store location. " I think the property was leased and sold" . Be looking out for their parking locations.

I love looking at old store fronts and barns. This was a great video. I remember the K-Mart subs and loved them. We have a place here in French Lick, Indiana that has Pluto mineral water. It doesn't smell very good. It is a natural laxative with the advertising slogan saying, "When nature won't, Pluto will."

I would love to see more videos of places off the beaten path near Gatlinburg and Seveirville. My husband and I are older and we love to go to the smokies but are really not interested in all the attractions that you have to pay to get into. We would rather just ride in our car and explore the back roads.
