BACKUP CAMERA INSTALLATION--Hyundai Santa Fe Sport (Step by Step)

Today, we are replacing our rear back-up camera on our 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Base model (part #957602W650). We show you step by step how to remove the panels & tail-lights on the hatchback in order to replace the backup camera.
Please be mindful that even though some websites say a certain part is guaranteed to fit your vehicle by the year, make & model of your specific vehicle, it is recommended to remove the old backup camera, or the part you're working with to get the part number, this way your guaranteed to get the correct new part in return. We went on Amazon, and we searched backup cameras for 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport with our specific VIN, and the part I ordered said it is Guaranteed to fit my 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport with VIN. When the part came in the mail, the new backup camera fit in the existing hole on the hatchback, but the backup camera connector was very different and did not fit on our vehicle. So naturally we had to ship it back and get the correct part.
Technically, you do NOT have to remove the rear tail-lights, but it is recommended to remove to give you a little more accessible space when installing your new backup camera.

Thanks for the video! Just what I needed! Question... Is the 'bracket' that's holding the new camera in place the same one that is holding in your new one? My replacement camera did not come with a bracket and I don't want to tear things apart if I need a bracket. Thank you for your help! Keep up the great work!

Yes, the camera I purchased did not come with a new bracket, so I had to transfer the old one to the new one. But I have seen some new cameras come with a new bracket to attach. So unscrew the old bracket off the old one and screw it to the new camera and you will be good to go. Thank you so much for the kind words

Have you noticed on the image? Your backup camera image got flipped.. What should be on the right side of your screen, is now your left.... Guess you'll need to snap that white wire on the camera plug.

The image is perfect, maybe it looked flipped, but it's actually perfect. And you are correct, if the image was flipped, you would need to snip the white wire. The cheaper backup cameras usually have the image flipped. Out of curiosity what part of the video does the image appear to be flipped? When I tested the backup camera after hooking it up, I didn't hook up the rear panel back to the car, I let the rear panel hang. I just wanted to make sure it worked before screwing in the rear panel. Maybe that's where it looked flipped. Thanks for the comment

I have changed it, but it doesn’t work, do you know where is the fuse? I think that could be the problem

Every vehicle has a different location where the fuse compartment is located. The short answer is to check your vehicles owners manual to find out the fuse location. Usually, you will find a small fuse compartment under the steering wheel to the left or to the right, depending on what kind of vehicle you have. There should be a fuse diagram on the cover of the fuse compartment telling you which fuses are which. If your fuse compartment does not show you any information, you will need to check your vehicle owners' manual for further assistance. Let me know if you figured it out. Have a great day

We bought it from a private seller on Ebay. You are always better off purchasing a Genuine OEM brand camera. The cheaper cameras sometimes don't work properly with certain cars, even though the part number is supposed to match your specific car. I know from experience that most cheaper backup cameras will display the image left to right, instead of right to left, after it's hooked up. Their is a way to correct the camera display by snipping a looped white wire on the camera wire , but who wants to deal with that. Always but OEM to avoid problems, it may cost more, but you won't have any issues

I still don’t understand what you mean by prying the plastic clips upwards because mine will not budge at all. It looks like it needs to be squeezed on the sides then pried up.

Some clips need to be squeezed a wee bit. My clips needed to be just pryed up a bit. You do not have to squeeze or pry up those clips, but it makes the removal process that much easier. When you pry up, or squeeze the clips, your just lossening the clips a little, so when you pull off the aluminum or plastic panel on the other side, it will come off easier and there is virtually no chance of those plastic clips snapping. Like I said, you do not have to do that step, but you risk snapping the clips. You could basically pry up the clips that need to be squeezed, as well as the clips that don't have to be squeezed. You're just persuading or helping the clip move more easily when you pull the panel off. Know what I mean? Just pry and wiggle the plastic clips a little. You may not see them move much, and then you should be able to pull the panel off easier. Just make sure as you are pulling off the panel to be easy. Don't just yank it off with massive force. Also, make sure those 3 10mm nuts are removed before pulling off the panel. Let me know how it goes.

@@HM_RELOADED I eventually got it. Me and my friend had to find out the hard way that the camera wasn’t the issue. We replaced the camera and the screen was still blue. The wires were also giving it enough power so we are assuming the issue is more internal. Most likely taken place in the radio.

That's sucks, check for broken wires to the camera connector and the wires leading to the connector. I have seen broken wires since the manufacturer tucks the wire harness under a metal clip. Sometimes, the wires are pushed into that metal clip so tight, and cause a break down the line. Even though the wires should be wrapped with a wire lume or electric tape, sometimes a wire still breaks. This could very well be causing your issue. Let me know
