I was one of those front rowers at Calvary in Costa Mesa. I’d say I believed about 90% about what you said, and it did cause me to get rid of all my secular music. Saying that, it was good for me to do it at that time! I was headed down a negative road and needed to commit to goodness and love, not aggressive AC/DC type lyrics (my friends did this too). Eventually I began to listen again (as an adult) and it was harmless yet wonderful music once again. We all have our past… #Grace 🙏🏼

They still say Hard Rock/Metal is "the Devils Music". Take a good look at Rap/Hip Hop. NO ONE SAYS A WORD ! AMEN 💀

Cheap Trick's "Gonna raise hell" is another song that has backwards messaging. I think most of these bands do a play on lyrics so it sounds like there is backmasking going on!

If you can get your hands on Gary Greenwald's series "Rock-a-bye-bye Baby" from 1983, it's a classic. There are a few clips on YT (about 13 minutes).

I’m just now seeing this in 2021, but I have to say, it takes a lot of balls to admit when you were wrong. Bob was the first person I heard play stuff backwards. I was only 8 years old and it scared the shit out of me. I grew up in a household that took it very seriously and had a mother who was constantly casting demons out of the house. I’m at an age now where I can give her a hard time about that point in our lives, but at the time, shit was DEAD serious and quite honestly, traumatic as hell for a young little me.

Very well put... When I was in college I created a program that would allow you to type in words and phrases as they sounded phonetically and the computer would say the word or phrase backwards... I do believe there is something to it but I agree with you. Thanks!

Thanks for realizing your mistake and moving on. I have discovered you, for the first time, today. I've listened to quite a few of your talks while working. I don't agree with everything I've heard, but I listen to some great preachers and don't always agree either. As I have often said, I believe we will ALL walk beside Jesus someday saying things like "REALLY? How could I have gotten that so screwed up"? I greatly appreciate your messages. Thanks.

Ha! Well said, sir! I remember that craze 30 years ago. I though it was a novelty then and still do. You can probably hear anything you want if you listen to enough things backwards.

You are the most sane sounding religious person I have ever heard on this topic. Exactly, all the crazy theories about messages being backwards, and your mind flipping them around, pure hocum. The whole notion sounds scary, but that's why it's so mystifying. I love your gentle calm demeanor when you say "enjoy your music", and although not religious, I agree totally, what is being said forward is what is important. I hope our friendship is one of the bright spots of those days. We never cared very much about the music part of your sessions...but we saw Jesus in you...and wanted more of Him. You touched our lives in many good and lovely ways..and NONE of them had to do with backwards masking! :)

We hear what we want to hear when you hear something backwards. Most people won't hear what you hear. If you tell someone "it says this", people will hear that. This was a court case for Judas Priest and the judge ruled it was all accidental sound. The first record with backward masking was the song "Rain" by The Beatles in 1966. People have heard all sorts of things in the forward playing position, but Lennon just sings "when the rain comes, they run and hide their head". You hear what you want to hear. You see what you want to see (how else do explain a Jesus face in burnt toast?)

I have always found it hilarious that people thought rockers were like scientist making stuff go backwards and forwards in a laboratory LOL. Most of them were so messed up they could barely tie their shoes. Let alone engineer a record to make subliminal messages

I remember in '93 when I was out of high school I heard about the Stairway To Heaven backwards thing. So I grabbed my record and started playing it backwards. All I could do was laugh my butt off. lol It cracked me up, to how silly the whole thing was. Something about Satan is going to hurt me in the toolshed, or some silly crap like that. Of course I was like, I better stop this or I am going to ruin my needle. lol Of course I heard about the backmasking about 3 years prior with a video my parents had me watch called "Hells Bells, the dangers of Rock 'N Roll" They made me watch it when I got into hard rock and heavy metal. There was a lot of silly stuff in it to say the least. I also remember one time when I first got the Metallica Black album when it was new in '91. And I flipped over my cassette to play the 2nd side with the track (Through The Never). And I was hearing the last track on the 1st side backwards (Don't Tread On Me). And it sounded like a bunch of gibberish and it sounded like Lars was pulling up his drumsticks. It was really weird that my tape player did that. Something I will never forget. lol

I remember you coming to my local church in Dubuque, Iowa back in the day and my mother was completely convinced that most rock music was of the devil for many years. I remember talking to my older cousin who was a huge Queen fan back then about Another One Bites the Dust and he pointed out to me that song when played forward was about shoting people dead and when played backward is talking about smoking weed. Why would the backmasked thing be far less harmful than what is being talked about when you play it forward? That kind of blew the entire backmasked thing up for me. Queen doesn't have very moral music if you just pay attention to what they are saying in their lyrics. There is no reason to be looking for sublimninal messages..

True story- in the mid 80s while being a counselor at our denomination's camps. It was teen camp and it was going great, the teen kids were good folk, came from good families etc... I had a cabin of randy guys who worry about nothing unitllllll the night after this damnable attrition happened. All that fool did was create in the minds of these kids thoughts they no business thinking about. A night of terror filled kids afraid to sleep, all the rooms like this as well. While the presenter God Botherer biped prolly slept like a babe. Terrible infliction of knowledge wrought on unsuspecting minds in teen years. If they weren't scared of God then, they sure were now. Yes, THEY do it on Purpose But I Also wrote out a little sentence, then wrote it backwards & then I tried to say these backwards words Forward as Best as I could, then I turned the cassette tape upside down (just unscrew the screws & make the actual tape loop Under, then loop on top), BUT, when I turned the tape backwards, the things I heard myself say (which was what I was going for, which was to Hear it said Normally When played forwards) it was NOT my voice Or what I had said...Instead it was something that HORRIFIED me to the Point where I NEVER MESSED WITH THAT CRAP AGAIN. Just curious why you regret it why? I think that back masking merely shows the truth that Satan holds sway over the world. What we put into ourselves is important. But people make more about it than necessary or not enough into it at all.
