22 Long Rifle handguns are still popular as an outdoors tool. Here we test a few different 22 Short and 22 LR loads for velocity and barrier penetration.
Nice to be able to comment again and give the thumbs-up you always deserve. I was permanently banned from RU-vid for giving a professional thought about the 2020 election, (no profanity, nastiness, etc. just my opinion). That was over 2 years ago. Well and behold, I pop on RU-vid today, cuz I still like watching some of their vids, (yours especially) and I noticed I could comment again and give a thumbs up or down. Not sure what happened, but it's nice to support the channels I believe are doing a great job. Thanks for the video and I'll be waiting for more great content. God bless bro.
I have the stainless one. Love it! Where I used to go deer hunting, there were a lot of squirrels. I used short HP's, as they were quiet and didnt seem to disturb the deer. Deer or not, I would come home with 2 or 3 squirrels. Also, using the mag cyl, Many woodchucks. Good show. Interesting test setup. Jerry
Good test. I was surprised that three cans were penetrated after going through the oak board! I love those Ruger single actions. Mine is also vert accurate with a 4.75 inch barrel.
Just wanted to drop in a comment about your NAA Minirevolver video... try out the black Hogue grips, they rock! Totally stabilizes the gun in the hand without increasing grip size. I have 2, the NAA22lr and the NAA Ranger II Breaktop, and they really feel great in the hand. Enjoy your videos, thanks!!
My Ruger Mkll ss with 6" bbl is really accurate, and seems to like those Federal 45 gr "Suppressor" rounds, CCI std 40 gr and, of course, Stingers. Might be a good comparison with those.
To work .22 LR needs to penetrate, so focus on the heaviest bullets, nothing under 40gr, and fast. This leaves the hyper velocity stuff like Velocitor, Interceptor (solid, not hollow point), and Winchester Hyper Speed, but the 45gr CCI Suppressor and Aguila SSS 60gr bullet is worth testing in the future.
Nothing fast? I figured a good solid bullet would still work. I did try to get some Aguila 60s but couldn't. With that said, I have a box of Federal Suppressor 45s that will probably make an appearance sometime.
@@professorpewpuew Speed is a factor, but weight is more of a factor when we're dealing with .22 LR and larger animals. The light and fast stuff is meant for varmints, but can work for self defense against people. I prefer 40gr hyper velocity tho.
