The answer to all our old man ramp needs might be a progressive height mini. You could make the base 3' like yours, make the coping removable and then build progressively higher add on sections, 4', 5' etc, like your removable extension, but full width, getting steeper, even up to vert, if your transition radius is big enough, which yours seems to be. Sweet build. Very smart.

You must be sad to see it go but it’s been fun seeing you work tricks out on it. I’m just putting the finishing touches to my own little setup in my garage. I bought a 2ft x 6ft qtr pipe last year and have been building a 4ft wide one to go with it in my garage. They should have around 8ft of flat between them when set up. Being 2ft high they are REALLY mellow but as I am a total newb to transitions they should work for me. As you say though, it’s bloody tricky taking it to bigger ramps but at least gives you an idea of the body mechanic.

Hey Jon, Having recently discovered your channel, I am frothing on your clips. It gives me much hope! What you can do now with a level of comfort and style compared to your earlier clips is night and day. I am looking at a 2ft mini for our garage to consolidate the basics. I'd say I'm intermediate: I can drop in from a 7ft coping, carve frontside and backside in our local bowl, kickturn etc. but I can't do much on the coping apart from an axel stall drop in as the 3 and 4 foot copings freak me out in terms of trying rock to fakie etc. Do you reckon a 2 foot mini would be worth it for progression or too quickly outgrown? Keep up the great content, I love it!
@JonBishopSkate
@JonBishopSkate 11 месяцев назад
Many thanks for the kind words. Yes, I found having my own mini ramp supercharged progression. Not only do you get confidence from knowing the ins and outs of the ramp, but you also get to skate loads and I found I could sneak in 10 mins here and there as there was no travel time to factor in. I would never have grown out of mine, I still prefer to skate small mini ramps for learning. The only problem is they are hard to find in the wild !!
@aliciaking8695
@aliciaking8695 11 месяцев назад
@@JonBishopSkate ok you've sold me Jon! I reckon I could fit a 2.5 foot ramp, though it might be a bit tighter/whippy. But what you said makes sense and reduces fretting...rather than getting hung up on the perfect dimensions, you will learn to skate what you have.

This is sick! I’m getting one ordered shortly and will be going in a garage however I’m still worried about noise! I did watch your video on sound dampening which I’ll definitely be using some idea but I still want to take it to the next level, you think a layer under the carpet will work or not at all? And any advice sound proofing the garage, there are a few gaps between the roof and garage doors, not much but still enough for someone to complain, sorry for the long message, hope your all well man and still skating! ✌️ respect man
@JonBishopSkate
@JonBishopSkate 2 года назад
Hey dude Many thanks for tuning in. In terms of garage sound proofing the best would be sealed acoustic plasterboard. For my garage I used Rockwool sound slab insulation and 22mm Sound Bloc plasterboard. I can play drums in there now. If the ramp is inside I would stuff it full of carpet remnants. The only reason I didn’t use carpet on my ramp was I didn’t want to trap moisture and cause rotting. I also would fill the coping with concrete. If you are inside and take a few measures nobody will complain I shouldn’t imagine ? it’s just if you start building structures outside then planning comes into play ??!

@@CreateSniping4k in the uk no need for planning outside as it’s a moveable structure. Can’t imagine you need planning inside in the uk, You can do what you want inside? Just toilets and hand wash basins etc as that’s change of purpose for a garage ?

@kirrrbbby 3 года назад

@JonBishopSkate
@JonBishopSkate 3 года назад
Hey Dude that’s an interesting concept. I enjoyed having a moveable extension which sort of did the same job as your solution I think? It was ace for getting more speed and also provided a fun challenge to try and overcome the fear of doing the trick with more consequence. I’ve seen guys have a flat bank one side and a standard transition the other and that seems to work well? There is a local mini ramp here that is fully wonky and built on a slope. Not by design I don’t think, just a dodgy build? One side is a good 1/2 a foot higher? You’d think it was a nightmare, but guys just adapt to it? When I skate it I do stall tricks on the high side and use the extra speed for grinds and pop stuff on the low side? It’s takes some getting use to, but is really fun? I recon from watching other skaters that anything is workable. Perhaps not easy, but guys skate jersey barriers and walls so proves anything is possible?!!
