It’s actually hilarious how the arguments devolve into this pattern: Joe makes a point about how Sal’s food item has a niche quality about it (can only be enjoyed at a certain time, or prepared a certain way, or found at a specific location) Sal refutes, claiming an exception to Joe’s argument, which, while valid, doesn’t defeat Joe’s point. Joe counters with an absolute (“Nobody’s ever done that”, “I’ve never seen that” “If you eat that you are crazy”) Sal doubles down, going even further until the point reaches absurdity. Joe gets frustrated and tries to reiterate the arguments to Sal, who gaslights Joe (“I never said that” or “that’s not what I meant”) Joe gets frustrated as Sal deflects and interrupts with multiple different points.

PSA : Eggs are not aborted chickens, this is a very common misconception, the eggs we consume are UNFERTILIZED, so essentially the non-embryonic egg of a menstruating hen. The only form of FERTILIZED egg eaten commonly is something like Filipino Balut.

Just wanna comment just post intro: This is one of the most important things to me about this podcast! The world is crazy right now and you guys stay away from truly dark/controversial things to keep joy accessible to everyone, and just argue about bacon v. cereal. It's like, co-regulating; allows people to take a breather and listen to cheerful (even friendly aggressive) banter, and experience humanity that way for a while rather than in the more divisive and grim ways. Genuinely, I don't know if the guys ever doubt whether they're doing something worthwhile here... but actually I think they are. Sharing joy is worthwhile; lifting spirits is worthwhile.

I love both, but personally, I have to be in a mood for cereal. I eat bacon and eggs for breakfast, with sausage as well, far more than I eat cereal. Certain cereals I used to love as a kid I cannot even eat anymore because they either mess up my stomach or they give me a gross after taste. I used to love Fruity Pebbles but it messes my stomach up and Apple Jacks are good, but I hate the after taste that lingers in my mouth from it. Only cereal I eat if anything nowadays is Rice Krispies, plain or strawberry, and Multi-Grain Cheerios.

Sal's argument that cereal can be a meal at any time of the day really falls flat. As Joe pointed out, if your family says your having breakfast for dinner, you're not thinking you're getting a bowl of cereal, and if you do get that, you're pissed and feel cheated. Bacon and eggs are food you look forward to eating, a meal you anticipate. No one is anticipating and eagerly awaiting a bowl of corn flakes.
