I do not like this blj. It is slower than most bljs in super mario 64 speedruns. I will fucking die if I do a blj like this again in the future. This is not a society I want to live in, if that were to fucking happen again. I fucking hate Mario.

It's pretty much both. Using decompiled code from SM64, as well as Mario's assets being taken from a full ROM of SM64, the mod basically runs Mario's movement as though it is a copy of Super Mario 64. However, it's also obviously been programmed so that Mario can interact with Sonic Generations mechanics and geometry, and both Classic and Modern Sonic are replaced with the plumber, of course. In essence, it's Super Mario 64 (modified to interact with Sonic Generations) layered over top of Sonic Generations (modified to run Mario's character code).
