Anyone want to see Bad Boys 2? Independence Day: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ekp87nE7BtA.html Men in Black: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pmpkqrjkQWU.html
I don’t know what people are talking about. Bad Boys 2 is terrible. Bought it on DVD to watch with a date because it wasn’t available for rent at Blockbuster when it came out. Have never watched it again.
Bad Boys is a classic, one of the best buddy cop films ever. Will and Martin were hilarious together, they had such great chemistry and definitely check out Bad Boys 2 it’s even better.
This was the beginning of the Will Smith '90s buddy movies - Bad Boys (1995), Independence Day (1996), Men in Black (1997), Enemy of the State (1998), and Wild Wild West (1999).
I was a theater projectionist when this came out. Back then, Michael Bay wasn't a known quantity, so this film was coming out of nowhere. Back then, films came in canisters, about 4 reels you assembled back to front. So, my first splice I held to the light was a frame showing a huge fucking explosion! Right then I got super excited to see this movie. It didn't disappoint.
"He's so nervous!" That's Martin's 'almost-crying' voice 🤣🤣🤣 One of his better affectations usually deployed in desperation Martin's got a ton of great stuff, but try some of his buddy action-comedies. Nothing to Lose (Tim Robbins), Blue Streak (Luke Wilson), National Security (Steve Zahn), and of course the rest of Bad Boys.
This movie is INCREDIBLY 90's. Almost painfully so, but the chemistry between the leads still works, and Tea Leoni's voice still has the same impact on adult me as teenage me. Almost all the plot is ridiculous, but the banter is funny as hell.
O the plot is hilarious slim, but Martin and WIll, and a strong showing from the important supporting cast! And I agree, Tea Leoni was that, "O really now!?"
Jen's look of pure excitement, satisfaction and approving rolled into one when an explosion is on the way is just the best💥 enjoy the ride guys Jen had a blast with this one as did I 🙂 thankyou for the fun time Jen youre not only the best but also the hamsters happiness 🔥💙
I used to have the cassette tape (yes, I'm old) of the "Bad Boys" movie soundtrack in 1995, when the film was released, and I loved it! This first movie is still my favorite of the series, even though it had a lower budget. Sometimes less is more. Great reaction, Jen!! I hope you'll react to the sequels in the near future. 😊
Facts. It was originally written for Dana carvey & Jon lovitz. If u can imagine that lol. So it was definitely written for two completely different ppl. So u can probably 70% thank Martin & will for how good this movie is
@@franohmsford7548 I don’t think it was written as a spoof. I think they were supposed to be cops as well. If Michael bay hated the script it must’ve been reeaaaal bad though lol
Joe Pantoliano (Joey Pants) is so funny yelling at Will and Martin. His anger is great 🤬 He's a fun angry police captain, but when he gets mad I always think of his role in Risky Business 🤣🤣🤣 He's great in so much stuff, but I gotta recommend him in Bound, with Gina Gershon and Jennkfer Tilly. It's a tense crime noir 😎
Besides the obvious tittilation factor (no pun intended) of the premise, there's actually a great crime thriller in there. It's an early Wachowski film, and there's bags of style.
@@theaikidoka The Wachowskis had gone to a studio with the script for "The Matrix" but the studio was nervous about putting soo much money up for novice directors, so they filmed bound as a way to show some of their style and that they could make a movie well. And it worked, as the studio gave them the green light for "the Matrix"... The only sad thing is that "Bound" often gets overlooked as a result....
The gun the bad guy pulled out at the end was COP 357 Derringer. "COP" stands for Compact Off-Duty Pistol and was marketed towards peace officers as a backup gun. The gun breaks open (pivots) exposing the four chambers, allowing for loading/unloading. Pulling the trigger fires one round at a time. It didn't sell well. For not much more size and weight, you could just carry a revolver in .38 Special/.357 Magnum and have two more shots. Also, the bad guy was driving a Shelby Cobra 427 (replica). A real Shelby Cobra would have been worth about $500,000 at the time. If the name "Shelby" sounds familiar, it's because you already watched Ford vs Ferrari.
Definitely watch the rest of the Bad Boys movies. Also, check out the movies National Security(2003), All About The Benjamins(2002), Big Momma’s House(2000), Menace ll Society(1993), Money Talks(1997), Set It Off(1996), Above The Rim(1994), A Thin Line Between Love & Hate(1996), and The Nutty Professor(1996).
This film shaped Will Smith's career as a film actor and action star whereas he hadn't done many films before this as he was mostly starring on television at this time. Independence Day came out in 96 Men In Black the following year in 97
Please continue with sequels Jen! And not just this series of films. Your questionnaire about continuing on with other films, absolutely! You're such a thorough person anyway, I don't think you need to be told what to do. 😊 Always here for support and friendship 😊...Eric
I ended up going to the movie theater last night to see Bad Boys 4 after I noticed Jen uploaded this reaction which is the first film I have seen on the big screen since Oppenheimer last year. Everyone do yourself a favor...if you're a fan of this franchise, go see the latest installment. I promise that you won't be disappointed!
This is a fun movie with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence! Luv their comedy! Took me a minute to recognize Tea Leoni. If you like cop buddy movies try "Tango & Cash" with Stallone and Russell! Or a good revenge movie is "Peppermint" with Jennifer Garner! Luv the new glasses Jen!❤
Great. Now I gotta watch the last two before you catch up. M. Bay loves his explosions! "The Rock," did he do "Armageddon?" BOOM! I can't recall his name off hand but the main antagonist in this plays an excellent villain. Definitely check out "Kiss Of The Dragon." Martin Lawrence = Blue Streak (heist movie). Will Smith = Focus (con movie, I haven't seen it but heard it's good), alternative "Seven Pounds!" More heist movies you'll probably enjoy, don't watch them all at once: "Heist" Gene Hackman, "Tower Heist" and "The Italian Job!"
If you haven't seen it. I recommend Starsky and Hutch. It stars Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson as cops. It is based on the 70's TV show. It also has Snoop Dog in it
Yes! I love that movie. Plus it was the only movie that I know of that had the Cadillac Cien concept car in it. I still wish they would've made that lol
I saw that movie on TNT I said that sounds like EWAN MCGREGOR and it was best line is when he sees a motorcycle and says I don't know what that is but I want one
You’re correct about the script, Jen! The script was originally written for Dana Carvey and Jon Lovitz, and you’re correct that a lot of the conversation scenes between Smith and Lawrence were improvised due to Bay not liking the script so allowed their comedic personalities to shine through. I hope you watch the rest of the Bad Boys movies (2 is my favorite and is definitely the epitome of Michael Bay’s style of ridiculous action, childish humor, and insane set pieces that defy normal narrative conventions. I am a huge Michael Bay fan, and will always recommend people see his first three films (Bad Boys, The Rock, and Armageddon). Pearl Harbor is definitely not good because the script and scope did not match Bay’s style of filmmaking (although the actual Pearl Harbor attack sequence is amazing). The Island, the first Transformers, Pain & Gain and Ambulance are absolute recommends from me. There’s no Director right now in Hollywood that I feel can command the action blockbuster void we have now in entertainment landscape, especially the way he films and constructs his movies. He’s truly a one of a kind. I don’t care for his Transformers films because I feel they inhibit what I love about Bay but they are the most successful and popular movies from him so if you want to go down that franchise rabbit hole, it’ll be a blast to see you reactt to them. :)
Bad Boys has maintained it's level of quality and entertainment. This franchise is what Fast and Furious wishes it was. Even with a new director with Bad Boys Ride or Die the vibe is still the same. Looking forward to the rest of the franchise.
Sorry, HARD disagree. The first two are fun, ridiculous excuses for banter and explosions. The recent movie really should not have happened - it lacked that special something and although there were explosions etc, it was like a band reunion where everyone is fat, slow and a bit out of tune compared to their prime.
I wish I could watch this movie again for the first time. Amazing movie, and seeing it through Jen's reaction, is amazing and fills me with joy! Gotta watch the other two now! Also, the amount of amazing actors in this movie, is really just low key awesome! And John Salley is a former NBA Champion, the tall computer guy.
Jen, you asked, "Is he like a basketball player?" That is John Salley, who played for a few NBA teams, including the Detroit Pistons and the Chicago Bulls. If you have not seen it, please watch and react to Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy in Life. That is one of my most favorite movies as far as comedies go, that is also a drama and/or thriller. Anyway, thanks for reacting to one of my favorite movies from back then, though. I had this soundrack back then on cassette tape and still do, but it is downloaded.
From the producers of Beverly Hiils Cop and Top Gun. Michael Bay's directorial film debut following music videos/commercials. Originally written for Dana Carvey & Jon Lovitz of Saturday Night Live (crazy). The movie itself is named after the song of the same name from the reggae group, Inner Circle. Became a single from 1987 and the theme of the COPS tv series (1989-2019). Since the mid-1980s, Martin Lawrence did comedy, Will Smith did rap since and both had hit tv series in the 1990s. Each was a star in their own right. Lawrence was the bigger film star and got the call for starring in Bad Boys. He was asked if there was anyone he knew who could share the screen/top billing with him and he chose Will. The film's success would be enormous, also raising Will's career in becoming a major box office draw and movie star. Spring 1995. Martin & Will as polar opposites with Comic timing, catchy lines, awesome action, very good camerawork. Loved Joe Pantoliano as Capt. Howard, always stressed or mad with Mike & Marcus. The female lead, Tea Leoni (Madam Secretary) was so hot and funny, legs for days. Part 2 (2003) was very good, Part 3 (Bad Boys For Life, 2020) was a real long time coming and worth it. The recent "Bad Boys:Ride or Die" is fantastic. Altogether $1 Billion worldwide. One of the best Buddy Cop series ever.
Martin Lawrence had to convince Will Smith to do this. He knew two of the biggest black TV stars on TV at the time would put butts in seats. He was of course correct.
I saw this as a kid and remember the 4 barrel gun being one of the most badass villain weapons I had seen at that time. And I had seen plenty of action films before then.
All I will say on Michael Bay is that to understand his humor you really need to see Pain & Gain. It's a very dark comedy on par with the Coen Bros (and actually based on a true story 😅)
Hey Ian, at the risk of being a know-it-all, I hope you hold your ax in a vice next time you sharpen it. I'd hate to miss you in the chat and comments because you lopped your hand off! :)
@@kevinlewallen4778 I was using it to chop wood for kindling at work to burn the wood from the framing we took down and I missed the wood and struck my hand fortunately as the axe was so blunt it only cut in about an inch in length and not that deep 👍 it's not something do often 🙂
Bad Boys II is one of my favorite movies. The series is definitely worth a watch. Sure they aren't the best movies but they are excellent at what they are going for.
Bay is fine doing his own thing, it's when he takes childhood nostalgia and tries to turn it into some ridiculous thing that people have a problem with.
This is Bay's "high bar". BB II is basically constant explosions and slow mo pans for 2.5hrs straight. If you come out without an ice cream headache you are a better gal than me !
Love the Bad Boys franchise! Probably my favorite alongside the Rush Hour movies. This was HUGE for me as a kid. Two of the best sitcoms in the black community being in a buddy cop movie was mind blowing. Loved The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Martin. Highly recommend watching the rest of the series. They're all good including the new ones.
Hi, Jen! This film was originally conceived for SNL funny guys Dana Carvey and Jon Lovitz. That version would have probably been quite different. See ya in the chat!
29:26: at the time of this film Martin Lawrence was one of the top entertainers/performers in the world. He had near-universal appeal, and definitely one of the highest paid actors in the industry, Will Smith was actually on the verge, while Martin was legit the biggest name, which at the time, it was common sense to give him top billing of such a multimillion dollar project.
The big hole in the door was caused by a shot gun. The small 4 barreled gun is called a pepper box I think. Each barrel fires just one shot. As the gun fires, the barrels rotate to the next loaded one. They were developed in the 1860's and aren't really used much today.
All 4 Bad Boys movies are good and worth your time. I look forward to your reaction to Bad Boys 2 and 3. Bad Boys 4, a.k.a. Bad Boys For Life, is in the theaters now.
Martin was a Bigger Name and more Famous than Will Smith back then when the movie was made, that was why Martin got his name infront of Will in the credit, believing Martin got paid more for the movie than Will too.
Mark Mancina's 'Bad Boys Theme' is fantastic - no, not the Inner Circle song attached to the show COPS, the instrumental music. Quintessential action music, with brass, wind, percussion and electronic elements.
Hi Jen ,, 😶🌫that was the 1st & as you may know there are 2 sequals so far with a 3rd almost ready for release , 🤩but what you may not know is there is a Tv spin-off series called "L.A.`s Finest" 😍This features Marcus Burnett`s Sister Sydney Burnett played by Gabrielle Union (who you have not met yet , she is in "Bad Boys 2") & her partner Nancy McKenna played by Jessica Alba , its not a bad cop show🤗
Commenting to comment, "Hi" Jen. I also hit like. Sad about Willie Mays 😢, but can't say "he went too soon" (he was 93). The Giants are my team and I saw Mays at Candelstick oh so many years ago.
Martin Lawrence was the top stand-up comedian at the time that this movie was made. Martin's box office numbers were higher than Will's at the time, too. Plus, Lawrence actually got the script first and got Smith cast in this movie.
@@lexkanyima2195 Martin was the comic relief/friend of the main character(s) in "House Party" and "Boomerang," so he added to the success of those films. And "Do The Right Thing" was an important Spike Lee film, so being a part of that movie also elevated Martin's status in Hollywood. He also had his stand-up concert film "You So Crazy" that made money.
Like all great moments, right on your forehead....Miss these old action movies. My lil sis was obsessed with Martin Lawrence when she first seen this with us.
I wish they had used a different title. Bad Boys (1983) is also the name of a too often ignored early movie which stars young actors Sean Penn, Clancy Brown and Esai Morales. I think more people would find this gem of a movie if the title had not been reused for the good, but not as great, buddy cop flick franchise.
Bad Boys (1983) is a very good movie. What you said makes no sense. This Bad Boys came out in 1995, how would this movie having a different name benefit the Penn movie that was released 12 years earlier?
@@adrianpeart Try doing a search for "Bad Boys" and see what comes up. Page after page of this franchise. Practically the only way to find the older Bad Boys is if you know it was 1983 or one of the actor's names. Get it now?
@@adrianpeart Because if you search for Bad Boys, this franchise is all that will come up for page after page, unless you know the year it came out or one of the actors in it already to add to the search terms. So, if you tell someone, "Hey, you should watch the original Bad Boys" they will never find it.
Entertaining reaction as always! Bad Boys is not a high quality move, but it's an awful lot of over-the-top fun. Of course, the movie only works because of the fantastic chemistry between Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. They are so good together. Bad Boys as a franchise also manages something that most franchises fail at: sequels made quite a long time after the previous movie that are just as much (or even more) fun (1995, 2003, 2020). I would definitely recommend watching Bad Boys 2 and bad Boys for Life at some point as well. I haven't seen the new one yet, but hoping it's up there as well.
