I have footage on the CV axle replacement on a Nissan but my cameraman was so shaky I felt like the viewers might get nauseas if ai post it.

Just replace the boot, especially if there’s no noise

The ol’ tell tale grease slinging, & the clicker! Been a while since I’ve experienced that. I tend to own and work on more rear wheel drive vehicles than anything. Luckily my 4 x 4 Silverado hasn’t puked CV grease yet. Only 126K right now so the night is young.😂 Good to see you buddy! Looks like I missed a few. I’ll have to go back sometime tomorrow and catch up.👍🍻

Well, hit the jackpot today when finding your channel. This rules out whether I had a CV Axle problem or not. I don't. The problem is from tire noise (saw one of your other videos from a year ago) and not the bearing (did the bearing tests with the wheel still installed that you provided)

Sometimes they come out easy, other times they don't. Depends usually on the design.

Glenn hi my mom has a 97 ford escort I found grease all over her ball joint and thought it was coming from the ball joint so i changed it than i saw the grease come back all over the ball joint again so then i suspected the cv axle but i cant find a opening in the boot

Sometimes the hole can be a small slit between the cv boot ribs. I have also seen grease get out from a slightly loose boot clamp. Even a pin hole can spring a leak.

Hi Glen I bet many would be puzzled wondering where all the grease was coming from 😉 Yep the torn boot is not so obvious untill it's expanded . 👍

If you catch the hole before the parts are too worn--- you can stuff some more grease in there, wipe it clean, and glue it back together with some 3M PR40. You can even patch over it with a rubber bicycle tube or something (with the PR40). But that stuff glues rubber together like CRAZY. It's a little pricy, but you can see videos on here where they literally glue strips of cut up tires onto a bald tire, to make basically a homemade paddle tire and you can do burnouts on the street and everything and those rubber strips will NOT come off. It's legit, when it comes to rubber. Granted you could probably buy a new rubber boot for the price of the glue. lol.. (at $18 for a little bottle). but that's not the point.
@ozzstars_cars
@ozzstars_cars Год назад
I might get some PR40 just to play with. How do you stuff new greae into a cv boot without removing the boot to do it?
@calholli
@calholli Год назад
@@ozzstars_cars Well if there's a rip or a hole just pack it in there with your finger or shove a grease gun in the rip/ hole, etc... Otherwise, you can get a needle for your grease gun and use it to slip behind seals and even sealed bearings-- and you can just puncture the rubber and add grease that way (if there is no hole or rip). Then you just drip some pr40 on it, and it reseals the little puncture. I don't particularly maintain my stuff well enough to bother with these little tricks, but I've helped my buddies do it on their cars in a pinch. lol.. I'm kinda the same with my rifles. I dont' bother cleaning them usually-- and just run them until the barrels are junk, because I can easily swap out another nitride AR barrel for $60; so why bother babying it..
@ozzstars_cars
@ozzstars_cars Год назад
@@calholli now that you mentioned it I bought a grease gun needle a few years back. Now I just have to find where I put it. lol
