The same black as MC-101, almost the same small as MC-101... but overall - nice drum machine. Let's see how it came out in AudioPlitz's video ;) [EDIT] 100% agree that it should be 299.
@@bernardlindeman739 I love Korg, but like Pilz said, it seems unfinished. maybe a firmware will do it good. Like the wavestate. I Loooooovvveee that machine.
Love having a gear channel that doesn't exist to sell me things! I understand the incentives that turn RU-vid into a never-ending tradeshow and I get the pressures creators are under. But the independence and humour of this channel really make it special !
Yeah I definitely agree. That certainly puts this channel above the rest. The endless roasting, the humor, the music and NOT trying to sell gear. It is definitely a breath of fresh air.
A year later & I still despise the flabby fuzzy fart kick. If there was a 3rd party kick synth plugin i'd go for it... But even at $299 (now) I still can't buy it... That kick ruins everything.
You actually demo'd this better than anyone else I've seen - you're the first RU-vidr who has made me appreciate this machine. There's still no way I'd buy it for it's current price, but it's also not as bad as I thought. The main issue for me is that Korg is so completely terrible in terms of firmware updates. Although I'm sure there will be a few updates, I doubt they will add very much at all
You called it, this is now selling brand new at outlets for $299 USD. Its actually what brought me here to check out if it was worth considering but I just get the feeling that is money I'd rather spend to getting a slightly better drum machine, or, honestly just sticking with what I have. I really love my Erica Synths LXR-02 Drum Synthesizer, and I can always spend more time with the samplers I have to fill anything that lacks.
Happy to see you had it pretty fast ! It sounds good in your hands, but it seems to be a legit "bad gear" product. If I had that money, i would choose the TR-8S... For the time being, i will stick to my TR-6S / M:Cycles / V Drum combo ! And besides, I can't wait to hear your future SH-4D review !
I echo the surprise of some in the comments at seeing the Drumlogue on the channel so quickly, but I'm here for it! Thanks for making me feel like my GAS treatment is starting to pay dividends. I'm now delighted that I didn't run out to get this thing!
fffiiirst ... To say that I love your work. Thank you, friday is an event thanks to you, and the fact that you make at least 3 superb tracks with all these synths drives me crazy. Big up !
For a company who's first product was a drum machine this product landed with a loud thud. Its basically a blown up Volca Drum (which I own). Even more disappointing are the influencers and music stores on RU-vid who have been less than honest about how really bad this machine is. I'm fumed that some infuencers and their gnomes have rebuked my criticism as I am a 'know nothing'. I have been working with electronic music for 48 years and my first store bought synth was a Korg PolySix. The light gray labeling on the shift keys on the brushed metal is a big ergonomic mistake. In less than ideal lighting/angles they are impossible to see. You can see this in some of the videos. For their asking price they could have laser cut the shift letters in the panel and filled them with acrylic, with a LED backlight, that would light up when you hit shift. I'm stunned listening to the factory programs about the lack of ethnic (Asian, African, Brazilian, Middle East) programs/kits. Clearly this is for IDM producers and the like. Well I do ambient music. So this one is a no-go. For 100 USD more you could buy a MPC One. First clue I am right about this: Look are how many are for sale already in the used market that were only used for a week. Second clue: Read the reviews on some of the major on line retailers. Thank you for your honesty and pointing out some of the other shortcomings of this product. I am not even sure I would have one if Korg sent me one free.
I think it sounds really, really good. Maybe a little stock sometimes, but for a good “sort of” different bread and butter option to a Roland TR-8s. It sits between the TR8s and Syntakt in terms of sounds to me. You made it sing! Great job as always. I’ll wait for the blowout.
I like your vids but on your drumlogue you Made a poor judgement. Have you checken al the in and puts and there functions? The dsp is 3x more strong then other logues. Perfect formfactor. Steady Knops. And all (even volume) knops Motion recordable There is no Deep menu diving If you know what to do. The sound is sick. Worth money allone for use as kick designer with adding Digital trancients. I can witte a whole list of what you forgot. I bought one, and 2 dates later a couple more! What a machine. Maybe you had the old firmware Or a bad comming out of your bed day 😂
@@AudioPilzwhat i really like is the small storage Space and makes me record to 32bit Then using the old sp1200 style and go from 33rpm to 78 recording. Smaller samples while in the drumlogue great tuning capability and amazing results
'i don't know korg's sales figures, but i wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see dromlogues actually go for 299 at blowout sales in the near future." black friday 2023 and i'm seeing them go for about $325-350 USD lol!
Last week I bought a memory stick and the store clerk laughed at me when I said I need one or two gigabytes. “Yeah they don't make those anymore“. Where did Korg even find 32 MB flash storage? What were they thinking???
You are quite a witty guy! My only complaint about your videos is that you torture us by flashing the memes on the screen for .00000006 seconds! You force me to listen to your videos at .25 speed, which makes does not sound nearly as pleasant as Josh Wink’s Higher State of Consciousness!
Thank you!!! It is scientifically proven that the most efficient method of watching is: watch once - enjoy the ride at full speed; watch twice - hover over the space bar
This is a big disappointment. Your original tracks, however, as usual, are not. When, as you've predicted, the prices plunge, I seriously question if these will be worth the investment in time, considering all the menu-diving involved.
I always have to wonder why the hell you would do that to perfectly good herring you could have made maatjes from. Pickled Herring SOUNDS almost as bad but the Dutch found a technique in the middle ages that makes it super tender and sweet
😅 This came to Bad Gear at warp speed yet a few people got butt hurt because of my critical assessment of Korg over the past several years. This is why we cannot have nice things 😅😂
@@AudioPilz so i just got it and man turn up master fx boost and it takes to next level this drum machine is huge and im out of my mind excited to own. Unbelievable how it was misrepresented on most videos
...this sounds like the nightclub that claims to be an alternative to the trendy, mainstream joints, but in reality is just as judgy and elitist...and the filter sucks. (But the vid was great and I...respected the jams!..this thing just isn't my cup o tea...)
Honestly I've never been more disappointed with a product. I was hoping it had a ton of customization, considering it was a 'logue synth, but it was just so painfully simplistic that it kinda ended up boring. Don't get me wrong, it sounds good and all... but theres not enough functionality.
I was actually hyped for this when they announced it... Wasted potential, i love the idea of blending samples with analog sounds but this is not what i expected at all...
AudioPilz Bad Gear is checking all the right boxes! LOL. My search for a MachineDrum without buying a MachineDrum Elekron. ;) This is getting close I guess.
I hope they make a follow up product that just has multiple user slots for drum engines. An open source drum machine would really be interesting. Maybe Arturia will beat them first with a DrumFreak that has multiple engine choices per drum channel.
At this point I think Korg and Roland have an engineering department in competition to see how fast they can tank their company. They are given incredible capabilities, and yet they want to see how terribly they can be implemented in desktop boxes. Everytime they put something out now it's like thanks we hate it. Florian somehow makes the best Jams regardless it's like Rembrandt using crayons on construction paper 😂.
Again, Korg missing the mark on a could-be-great release. Just seems like they said it was good enough, rather that it being genuinely good. I feel the same way about the Prologue; “you want how much $?!?” Half the price, would definitely make this cool, but seems like a TR-6 could get you further still.
Well, it IS Korg, after all...they actually PUT components in it. The Akai "critters" sound more like Akai popped the backs off of those and poured various bits and pieces in 'em with a funnel! Although...the Timbre Wolf still retains some abuse potential if you're shooting for something out of spec, sort of like RDJ's microtonal weirdnesses but you can have that sound right out of the box!
I actually liked the Drumlogue demos and then wanted one much more after I tried it out in person... Unfortunately for Korg I have just as little money as I do taste.
I had it, returned it in a week. The sounds aren't half that bad. They're really quite workable. Their layout and sequencer and "hidden under shift" functions however weren't. Close but no cigar.
Dammm you Pilzzz! I've been thinking of getting one of these and now I don't know which way is up or down. You can make a thrift store kids toy sound great so it's more confusing than ever. I've seen some vids on line of people making these sound insane, but I guess they are difficult to program like you were saying.
Oh great and wonderful Flostradamus! We are about a year in, and most shops have these going for around $400. Not the same as a Reverb Op-like blow out, but still worthy of consideration. Especially now that BooChow and others have released some compelling User made synths, and effects.
I was hoping korg would make an advanced digital drum machine that’s similar to machinedrum since I like volca drum a lot, and we got a new bad gear material 💀
You can’t polish a turd but I’ll buy one for 299. The words ‘too little to late’ really sum this up. And to think they could have actually made something special
this guy is like an american child who grew up in japan and had to learn the language from watching television. except he grew up in germany and had to learn english by reading reddit memes
We all knew this day was coming. Honestly I was wondering what v was taking so long. It's release day had me laughing because of all the ass kissing influences. Hell Honeysmack totally hyped this machine and ever since he did his release day video it hasn't been featured in anything else they have done videos on. It's never in their setup. 😂
Before I saw this (grateful to have your coverage, btw) I was saving up for a Digitakt. Now it appears that I'm ... still saving up for a Digitakt. Two months to go! Vielen Dank, Florian!

hey Man your guess was right! Now is just full of Drumloigues going for 299euro in the second hand market . Just realising now, how down went the price of this drum. It is incredible! This one was so much waited by the community and now is like 3 quarters of its original price. As much as you never find the perfect bass line ( I understand ) I also can't figure out which drum machine to buy. The Drums and Bass line; the easiest to make but still the dumbest things ever to like .
Was looking for a budget analogue drum machine and this looked so tempting, price tag was the only thing that put me off. Good thing I settled for a Behringer 606 clone instead, dodged a bullet!
