Finn what you shared in the first minute proves how mature you are. To realize at 17 that social media can literally consume you and then spit you out is good. The footage at the end brought me back to old home movies. The scenery was beautiful.
Loved the 8mm Finn. I'm a child of the 60s and 70s and boy did this bring me back to those early years! I saw lots of home movies back in the day on the 8mm format, most of them in b&w. It's also how a lot of footage was shot for our Canadian Public broadcasts. Thanks for this and I look forward to more of your unique way of telling stories. ❤🙏👍
I somehow managed to click here in 2sec on accident, rn it's 12:30am and I'm trying to learn a song called *pure imagination * singing and playing guitar
Wow, 8mm film! No sound, no going back to review what you took to see if it came out okay, no changing the ISO setting to compensate for lower light conditions. Well done, Finn! Proud of you!
love how every video you make feels very genuine, keep doing you bro, and never loose that positivity, you don’t how much you have helped me, thanks Fynn 💪🔥
Awesome video. Finn you brought me to tears. Not because I’m old but because the old film style you posted reminded me of my dad’s favorite past time of making home movies. I lost my dad last year so I can’t emphasize enough how your movies, and your time with your family is priceless. Safe travels .
im sorry to hear about your dad, im sure he’s resting peacefully 💙 Thank you for enjoying my creations, im glad they can provoke emotion, that means a lot :)
I came of age in the 70's. The 8mm films bring back the warmth of film in those days. Family times and general life. Thanks for allowing me to remember.
As a person who doesn’t know anything about cameras or filming, the few clips shown were soooo beautiful. It had the right amount of lighting (not too strong and not too dark), the texturing of the film with the streaks of white and blue made it look so domestic and homely, as well as the graininess of the film makes the clips seem sort of ’memory-like’ or ‘nostalgic’. The different shots (rolling countryside and still shots of the Zatara fam) added such a cool effect of encapsulating the beauty of human connection and nature. I like how the shots aren’t too long, it creates curiosity? Like, it makes you wonder how do these clips fit in with each other? I just love the movement and personality of the camera. The use of strumming a guitar was nice too, it adds an elegance and fragility to the whole video, Even the use of negative space was genius and the use of zooming in for certain family members and zooming out with the nature scenes to invoke a sense of belonging and purpose 😮
Old super 8 films of family holiday have a lovely emotive quality. I repaired a projector an old guy a couple of years ago and watched some film of kids playing with their dog in the 70s.the tee shirts were so cool as we're the striped drinking glasses, love your work lad. ☺️❤️
as a person who wants to collect cameras like these, you've just made me want to collect them more. amazing footage finn, loving this style of video that you let us watch. lesh go
Good to see you again! As someone who grew up hearing that clicking of an 8mm at every family gathering, where we had to sit through everyone's "adventures" inside their houses, it was a nice trip of nostalgia. Thanks!
Finn great video! The footage from the old camera is so captivating, can't wait to see what else is coming,, the second shot Kate and you interacting POV is such an amazing shot. Keep em coming man!
Not many people still appreciate the use of film. It creates such a character and energy that has been lost in digital media of trying to be the most brilliant and accurate.
Really love your videos ... they are just sooo original and captivating ... and such a great mix of stunning footage ... cool music ... great humour ... clever editing and content ... thought provoking serious narrative. You let the viewer in on a journey (on your personal journey ... at least the viewer is lead to believe) and that feels special. You are just sooo talented!!! Thank you for your videos Xx
Just love the old camera footage. Not sure how to explain it but love the color the little fuzz the little tiny glitches is it in focus Kinda, but not really but I really like it keep up the good work Fin. Been following your family for the whole time since you guys started RU-vid. I’m not young but it’s been interesting watching your whole family grow and each of you growing and maturing. Love you guys, smooth sailing.
I'm amazed how many young people are into film photography. When digital photography came along, I thought film was toast. I'm glad people still appreciate the analog look of film.
I'm not happy that your lens broke but kinda grateful for this beautiful 8mm film footage. Your videos are beautiful, genuine and just relaxing to watch. Happy to see you back and also great you took some time off :))
Aw, man, I love the 8mm film. My formative years were spent in Bavaria (south of Stuttgart, Germany) and that film had such a nostalgic feel to it. It reminds me of watching some of our home videos. Good to see you back.
Hello Finn! I have watched the Sailing Zatara channel for many years and love all you guys and enjoy living vicariously through the videos. When I retire in 6 years, I hope to buy a boat and sail or motor full time for at least a couple years. I also want to take time to RV across America... This is the first time I have watched your channel. I am VERY IMPRESSED! You have knowledge well beyond your years and your music is fantastic! Be encouraged Finn... you can do anything your heart desires. Do NOT move too quickly and test the waters before making a FINAL decision. Thank you for the joy you bring via your videos and safe travels to you and your family!
Great to have you back. Agree wholeheartedly with your advice to disconnect at times to recalibrate without social media. Thanks for the film clips, I enjoy seeing things through your eyes. Thanks Finn
Finn, you're one of the most enlightened people I've ever seen on the internet. If not thee, most. Your videos are always interesting and well done and brother, you play a mean, mean guitar. It's my favorite instrument so, thanks for that!😊
Let me say that these are some of the best nostalgic videos that I love. I love every single one of your videos and I am super excited for the next one. Lesh go
thanks man he was on my tail in another vid and I half fell for it but I stopped it now he just does this thing when im actually trying to post a good comment@@TomCyr-ue4se
Love the 8mm - took me right back to early family home movies in the late 50's. An Atlantic sailboat crossing in December!!? Bet your Dad will want to test himself with the westerlies. Have fun
Glad to have you back. Smart to take a break from social media!!!! It can be so very toxic. I so love 8mm. Grew up with this images. Thanks for telling stories. ❤
Finn, I am glad that you are back after a month. I was concerned that something happened to you or your family. Looking forward to your next video. You are a master at cinematography, music, and engagement with your audience. Robert.
Finn, I love the 8 mm it’s so nostalgic. It’s good to see you again. It was a wise decision to take some time off and disconnect. I think we all need to do that from time to time. Very mature of you. With that said, you are definitely a cinematographer. In every sense of the word. Your videos always tell a story. And even more so artistically with the 8mm. Thank you so much Finn. Sending some sweet vibes from California.🤟🏻💜😎🐬⛵️🇺🇸
Wow. I don't know why i started to puddle up when I watched the 8mm footage. Beautiful stuff. Both the subject matter and quality of the film created something really special.
Fine work Finn. I said once before how I thought that type of camera fit your filming personality. I'm 70 years old, and I'm used to watching family films just like that. Brings back wonderful memories.
I really can't imagine how difficult it must be being your age with is much information that is thrust out there with news of the world, social media. We've been a species for over a few millennia not knowing what is going on in the world or at times even the next village. To knowing and being aware of absolutely every single minute detail of everything. I do think that is overwhelming for our ability to process such an influx of information. Equaling to such anxiety and this new phenomenon of so much mental health problems in people. We have not as a human race been able to adapt as quickly as technology has. So I do agree that until the human is adult is able to learn some sort of an ability to process and compartmentalize stopping social media and connecting to what is real and emotionally stable such as family and beauty. It is a sign of emotional intelligence to do so. Keep on growing Finn your a good person an have an amazing future ahead of you. P.S sorry for all the errors.
Wow! How is it that old film makes things more beautiful? I seriously almost cried! Somehow the old style film matches the vib of your family perfectly.
I love wearing my "LESH GOO" t and I love you. When you announced that you were sick I really felt for you. I know what that is like but can't imagine what that would be like on a boat. It is fantastic to see you again and know that you are well. When your blogs post my day is so much better. Thank you for sharing YOU !
Yeah, feel ya on this. Also, want you to know, Finn, that lot if us myself included, like your posts, enjoy sharing your travels and experiences and really do value your wisdom & insights. Hope to continue to hear from you and when you all can, come put in at Palm Beach inlet, in Fla (US East Coast) and we'll all have a cup of coffee! Snook fishing is great here as well! Much love & respect. 👊❤️💯💪😎
Wow, Finn, that footage was amazing! Gotta admit, it gave me the Feels. I, too was obsessed with cameras when I was younger. I had countless Brownies, and a coupe 1920s telescoping accordions! I took some pix with them, but those photos are long gone. Sux about your camera, hopefully you can get another, or get it repaired. Keith! You're the reason why Finn can't have nice things! LOL
I'm blown away at the filmmaking skills of this young man. Fanstatic cinematography and music thats blended perfectly. Really sets a calming mood that keeps you engaged as a viewer. Well done kid, you are very talented.
I'm old so I shut down Facebook back in June. Those blasted reels would suck me in for hours. It's good to see you back. We need more young people producing positive content. Keep up the good work!
Fun fact; the 78mm film video cameras that Hollywood studios used in the late 1960's had better image brightness and color balance than today's digital cameras used in the studios. Nice video, Finn! Always great to hear from you.
WOW Finn what a Great 70's-80's Vibe the camera gives off! Talk about Memories! Sorry about the Bad Luck but the Blessing you have #EVERYDAY with your FAMILY, FRIENDS and BOAT ADVENTURES Makes up for it! Thanks for sharing and bringing us along! God Bless Always! May HE Bless and Protect all of You Always! You are Always in my Thoughts and Prayers! #LYBM
You’re so awesome Finn! So intelligent and compassionate. It’s obvious your fans support you no matter what. 👍❤ I feel very proud of you for some odd reason young man! Thanks for sharing. 🙏🇺🇸
